In-Game Injuries

Marquis Daniels (Sacramento Kings)
Strained Abdomen, Out for 1-2 Weeks
"Yeah, getting an injury sucks, but I'm sure my team will be just fine without me. Besides, I get to see my family!"

Yao Ming (Houston Rockets)
Lower Back Straing, Out for 1-2 Weeks[
"It was a hard game and a hard loss. I'll be back soon."

Courtney Lee (Houston Rockets)
Broken Wrist, Out for 4-6 Weeks
"This sucks. I mean, it'll be interesting to see how the Rockets adjust with Yao and I out of the starting lineup. I just hope we can continue to win games. It's a shame that the Kings got the best of us since we were injured."

Post-Game Interviews

Alex Best (King's Head Coach): "Basketball is a physical sport, and rivalries bring that out. We had to prevent them from easy layups and low-post moves, so we fouled them if we couldn't stop them. That's fundamental basketball. Regardless of how we did it, it feels good to pick up our 4th straight win."

Jameer Nelson (Player Of The Game): "They fought hard and were tough opponents. But we're a different team from the last time and they didn't adjust to us well. It's unfortunate to see Yao and Courtney down after this game, but they were playing hard too, and I know there is no hard feelings."

DeMarcus Cousins (King's Role Player): "I felt we were in control most of this game, and that's a great feeling to have. When Yao had to leave, it left us big men open for a lot of possibilities. I mean we saw a great game from Thompson, Dalembert, and Greene!"

Shepard's Review
Rocket's Rivalry Leads To Fulds, Injuries, And A Kings Win.

You can see why Arco Arena is a hard place to play. Even against one of the best teams in NBA right now, they managed to rally at home and pick up a 19 point win. A lot of hard-played basketball down their tonight, yet the Kings were able to get revenge for the early season loss and pick up a win at home. I'm here to recap you on why the Kings won, and how hard the Rockets fought back.
  • The Kings took 16 more shots than the Rockets did. More chances lead to more baskets.
  • 7/14 and 50% shooting from beyond the arc for the Kings. Rockets were banging their head against the wall with only 2/13 from three point territory.
  • Rockets went to the line 7 more times than the Kings, and capitalized 19 points from the stripe.
  • 11 turnovers for the Rockets compared to the Kings 5. They needed to hold on the basketball better.
  • Rockets finally managed to snap the Kings 7-game blocking streak, outblocking them 9 to 5
  • Rockets were out-assisted 21 to 12.
  • DeMarcus Cousins, having another all-star game, got 6 rebounds, 2 steals, 3 blocks, and shot 7-9 to get 16 points, the game highest scorer.
  • Jameer Nelson scored another double-doubl, with 15 points and 10 assists.
  • Tyreke Evans had a great first half, and stepped back in the second. 2-2 from beyond the arc to snag 11 points.
  • Jason Thompson stepped up his game a little bit, grabbing a steal and shooting 4-9 for 8 points and 4 rebounds.
  • James Harden is pushing to stay in the starting roster, trying to prove his worth by snagging 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 8 points.
  • Eugene Jeter proving his ability as the 6th man by shooting 4-7, getting 4 assists and 9 points.
  • Samuel Dalembert was able to shine without Yao against him, snagging 3-5 shooting and 3 steals, even a block to add.
  • Donte Greene, with the most minutes off the bench (12), got 5 rebounds and 1 block.
  • Yao didn't do enough when he was in the game, 2-2 but only 7 points.
  • Scola did his best to lift his team, but fell short with only 12 points and 5-10 shooting.

Rockets are now 7-5
Kings are now 4-4

The Wolves were in disarray against the Clippers

Result: Minnesota 106 @ Los Angeles Clippers 123

December 20th, 2010. The Los Angeles Clippers hosted the Minnesota Timberwolves intent on revenge for the close lost they felt the last time the two teams met. This time the advantage would be purely in the Clippers court with the Wolves without the services of Kevin Love and Deandre Jordan.

The first half was not even close as Eric Gordon went nuts, hitting almost every shot he made in the first and almost as efficiently in the second. Gordon would finish with 43 for the game, and 27 of those he scored in the first half as the Clippers would take a 68 to 52 lead into the main break. Blake Griffin was proving tough to stop for Beasley as well, who had shifted into the power forward position after Deandre Jordan's injury earlier in the season. Griffin scored 21 points on the night from 8 of 12 shooting from the field and 5 of 6 from the free throw line. Another highlight for the Clippers was the defensive play of Aminu who had five swats on the night.

There was no point in this game the Wolves were even close to being competitive. Isaiah Rider led scoring for the Wolves with 35 points, but they came from 12 of 23 shooting while also nailing 7 of 8 free throws. Given the difficult conditions and constant defensive momentum the Clippers had Rider could be forgiven for his below average shooting percentage. Unfortunately for Rider and the Wolves nobody else really stepped up to help out. Martell Webster, fully healed and back scored 16 points but did not know when to put his shot away, shooting an abysmal 3 from 11 from down town.

The Wolves were seriously missing Eric Bledsoe (rested due to twisted ankle), who helped restrict Eric Gordon last time the two teams met. Another issue for the Wolves was Jonny Flynn and his 8 turnovers. At first glance his 14 points an 17 assists would look good for the second-year guard, but the 8 turnovers are a reminder of his turnover issues and the growing concern amongst the front office that perhaps Flynn is not the guard of the future. Don't be surprised to see Flynn dealt for a top rookie point guard prospect at draft time.

This is the first time this season the Wolves have lost two games in a row and the coaching staff are hoping that a return home to face the Jazz will right the ship.

Season Record: 22 - 7.

Recap:

The Wizards dropped their second game of the season to the still-undefeated Raptors led by Demar DeRozan's spectacular shooting performance. Washington managed to stay in the game until the third quarter where they went ice cold, only managing 6 points. The 30 points put up in the 4th weren't enough as the Wizards dropped to 4-2 on the season with a 20 point loss.

John Wall continued his solid play but he got no secondary scoring. Josh Smith had another double double and solid defensive game but the Wizards would've liked more than 10 points. Elias Harris scored his first points of the season as well in limited action.

Recap:

The Wizards fall to 4-3 after losing their 2nd game in a row, this time to the Sacramento Kings. Defense was again the issue as the Wizards couldn't contain the young, dynamic combo of Tyreke Evans and last years Rookie of the Year, Seth Curry. John Wall continued his all-star play in this game, even netting 2 shots from 3 point range.

Despite the loss, the Wizards came out of this game with a possible trade partner in the near future. Eager to acquire defensive help, Chris Singleton stood out as a player that could step in and help Washington on that end of the court. Singleton, now in his 3rd year in the league is demanding a trade from the team. Increasingly frustrated by his role as the teams 12th man, he is willing to go anywhere as long as its away from the Kings organization. This is a player the Wizards will certainly keep their eye on in the coming weeks.

The Kings are extremely thin at the Shooting Guard position. A J.J. Redick for Chris Singleton swap may be possible. The Wizards are becoming frustrated with J.J. and his career low .250 3 point percentage. Those numbers aren't acceptable for a 3 point specialist like Redick.

Recap:

No shortage of offense in this game as the Wizards rebounded from the losing skid to bring their record to 5-3 on the season. A combined 72 points scored in the 4th quarter alone kept the fans on the edge of their seats throughout.

Yi Jianlian was on fire off of the bench in this one falling 1 point short of his career high. J.J. Redick came to play as well fresh off of trade rumors, he seemed determined to show that he is a vital part of this team and can still contribute.

Recap:

On the return to their home court, the Wizards got their second win in a row, in dominant fashion no less. The defense played well which is the most important thing to take away from this game. Struggling in the last few outings, the defense, led by Tyler Zeller shut down the Rockets in the first half and cruised to victory.

John Wall led the way with the second highest scoring outing of his career. Only having 2 turnovers was a step in the right direction as the turnovers have been an issue so far in his young career. Tyler Hansbrough played well off the bench.

Recap:

The New Look Spurs were taken out on their own court tonight. In only their 10th game together after a partial rebuild, the Spurs came out of the gate hot but fell off soon after. By the time the 4th quarter hit the Spurs lack of depth showed and they fell without putting up much of a fight.

John Wall stuck his name in the MVP discussion with a brilliant performance, dominating his old career high in scoring and nearly touching 60. The Wizards noticed early they weren't going to get the calls and get to the line so John Wall went to work from mid range and showed off his newly developed jumper. The scoring outburst partially was because he had to take over. Josh Smith was off early on, as was most everyone else. Despite the offensive struggles, Smith did well on the glass and blocked 5 shots. Austin Daye was the only other bright spot on the offensive side of the floor inching closer to the starter SF spot by the day.

Look Ahead:

If Marvin Williams continues his lackluster play, Flip Saunders is more than willing to give Austin Daye his shot at the starting role. He feels Daye offers a much more dynamic game than Williams. Williams' scoring touch could be more potent off the bench. Saunders is thinking coming off the bench the only thing he has to focus on is scoring, and that could help him and the team.

J.J. Redick played well in one game after the trade rumors started, and then quickly went back to the poor shooting that has plagued him all season. If that continues, Washington will be forced to try to move him. Marcus Jordan has played well in the time he has filled at SG when Kentvaious Caldwell takes a break. His performance will help soften the blow of J.J.'s loss. A perimeter defender will be priority if a trade does happen.

Post-Game Interviews

Alex Best (King's Head Coach): "This game came down to the final quater. Who could perform better. I'm glad we could sneak the win out from under these guys, but they were draining the better looks and playing the better defense. Heck, they might have won if they never fouled us at the very end."

Jameer Nelson (Player Of The Game): "It always feels great to get a win. I felt confident out there, and my team mates really helped me out. It was a good game overall for both sides."

Tyreke Evans (Key Player for the Kings): "I can see why people THINK Andrew Bogut is a good shot blocker. He basically punches you every time you go up. I'm glad the referees didn't allow him to play dirty. This isn't football buddy, keep your hands to yourself."

Jon Ratski's Review
Bucks Break Down Before The Kings, 3rd Straight Win At Home.

Another great win by the Kings. After struggling in the first half, they managed to key some key stops and kept giving the ball to the hot hands of Jameer Nelson. Coach Best did a great job keeping fresh players on the court, and they outlasted the tired Bucks in the 4th quater. Fundamental win, with goods and bads.
  • Another blocking show, 5 for the Kings.
  • Bucks threw there bench out there more than their starters it seemed. 29 fron them.
  • Both teams go a lot of turnovers, 17 in total.
  • Bucks could not stay out of foul trouble. Bogut being the bad boy with 5 fouls, all of them shooting.
  • Jameer Nelson proved that he is a great fit for this young team. 6-9, 2-3 from beyond the arc, with 7 assists and 2 steals.
  • Eugene Jeter picking up some slack as well, going 5-9 from the field and 2-3 from beyond the arc (first game he's done that well) and 14 points.
  • Tyreke Evans did well to step back and let Nelson take the spot light. 4-10 from the field.
  • Thompson keeps proving why he's in the starting lineup. 3 blocks, and 5 rebounds. 10 points.
  • DeMarcus Cousins also had a step-back game, only shooting 3-5, but getting 4 from the line after getting 3 fouls out of Bogut.
  • James Harden did well, 1-2 from beyond the arc and throwing out 2 blocks and 4 rebounds from the SG position.

Buck are now 1-1
Kings are now 3-4

Post-Game Interviews

Alex Best (King's Head Coach): "These are the games that coaches dream of. The starting 5 dominated on offense, and the bench 5 dominated on defense. Everyone knew exactly what they had to do to win, and everyone did it well. I don't have a single complaint against any of my players."

Tyreke Evans (Player Of The Game): "There's a few issues I had. Derrick Rose attempted a windmill dunk when they were down 20. Who does that? I'm glad we blocked that shot. He couldn't do anything. Then he throws up a full-court shot at the last second? Down 20? Who does that? I'm glad we dominated this game."

DeMarcus Cousins (Role Player): "I'm just glad I could contribute. When I joined the Kings I was afraid Evans would be doing everything and coach wouldn't let the rest of us play. That's not the case though and it makes this game even more fun to play."

Jon Ratski's Review

The Chicago Bulls looked like a disorganized high school team this game. Derrick Rose was trying to lift his team up, and couldn't do so. The Bulls even flashed a few pretty dunks (or at least attempted to, Derrick Rose's windmill dunk that was blocked by Dalembert from behind.) The King's just showed the rest of the NBA that those teams with one star can be beat. Teams with 5 are the ones that are hard to stop. So here's the good and bad!
  • Blocks upon Blocks! Kings got 8 compared to Bulls 2. 5 of those 8 came from the King's bench!
  • The Bulls couldn't hold on to the ball. Except for Noah, every player on the starting 5 turned the ball over two times each.
  • Bulls didn't have a bench, only scoring 5 compared the King's bench putting up 24.
  • The King's shot 70% from beyond the arc! Coach Best is doing a great job changing the King's one weakness.
  • Kings continue to out-assist every team they've played so far, getting 19 compared to the Bulls 12.
  • Tyreke Evans was fantastic, snagging 18 points with 7-12 and improving beyond the arc, shooting 3-4! He even got 2 steals and a block. His improvement has been quick.
  • DeMarcus Cousins is slowly becoming the team's #2 guy, pulling down 8 rebounds and shooting another 80% game, going 4-5.
  • James Harden, fresh out of Oklahoma, contributed well, shooting 4-10 and rebounding 6 times! When you can get the SG grabbing rebounds, you're in a good place.
  • Jameer Nelson was lights out from beyond the arc, draining 2-2 and 3-5 overall. He also got 7 assists. He's been a great addition to the team.
  • Just when you thought Jason Thompson would be outshadowed on the starting roster, he snagged 12 rebounds and shot 3-7. Great job from the big man at power forward.
  • Samuel Dalembert was phenominal on defense, grabbing 2 steals and 3 blocks! Perfect shooting too, 2-2
  • Eugene Jeter still producing, 2-7 with 4 points and 2 assists. Not bad for the young PG off the bench.

December 18th, 2010. The Wolves went into the fifth game of their road trip hoping that soon some minor injury woes would be over, with Martell Webster responding better to treatment for his back ailment, although Deandre Jordan still appeared to be a week or two away.

It was a tight contest through the first half with the Wolves leading by five points at the break with Beasley dominating on the boards and on the scorecard. Coming off the bench Eric Bledsoe was scoring well, 14 points in 7 minutes action, until he had to leave the game with a twisted ankle. This threw the Timberwolves rotations into mayhem, coming into the game with only 10 players really capable of making a contribution and having that cut down to nine was disastrous for the young pups.

Denver led by Wilson Chandler (27 points, 5 Rebounds) and Nene (16 points and 9 rebounds) started picking the reeling Wolves apart, taking advantage of their tiring legs and unfamiliar rotations. The Wolves looked to be headed to a double digits defeat as the Nuggets held on to a 12 point advantage with two and a half minutes to go. Coach Kurt Rambis used the final time out at this stage to give his team a breather, not realising how much this would come back to haunt him.

From the 2:03 moment in the fourth Isaiah Rider went on a tear, nailing 5 trey's and an and one to bring the Wolves within two as Lawson missed one of two free throws in the last 3 seconds on the intentional foul. Unfortunately for the Wolves having no time out meant they could not advance the ball and set up for an inbounds play. Flynn passed the ball to Rider, but he could not get his shot off on time and the Nuggets would be victorious on the night, 101 to 99.

Rider scored 20 of his 28 points for the night, in the final quarter, including 18 in the last 2 minutes. Beasley backed him up with 20 points and 10 rebounds, while Bledsoe's 14 in 7 minutes was the next best for the Wolves. Jonny Flynn scored 9 points and had 15 assists, but his turnover rate continues to be a problem, he had six on the night.

The Wolves only have two games in week eight as they wrap up their road trip against the Clippers before returning home to face Utah. The Wolves are now 22 and 6 on the season.

December 15th, 2010 Minnesota 120 @ Phoenix 85
December 17th, 2010 Minnesota 96 @ Portland 86 [SIMMED]

The Wolves debuted a new starting five for the game against the Warriors, following the injury to Deandre Jordan in the previous game against the Chicago Bulls. Jonny Flynn, Isaiah Rider, Wesley Johnson, Michael Beasley and Anthony Randolph ran out against the Warriors.

The Warriors broke out of the gates early, looking to start stronger than they did in the two teams previous meeting. Monta Ellis (28 points) and David Lee (18 points, 9 rebounds) were the go to guys early in the game as the Warriors pushed themselves out to a 5 point lead at the first break.

The Wolves fought back to tie it up at the half on the back of a solid team performance, with several players looking to do their bit. The Warriors were not to be deterred though as when the third period closed they were back in front by three. It set the scene for a classic struggle in the fourth quarter, with rookie point guard Eric Bledsoe forced to spend some time playing the two spot he relished the opportunity and continued his recent run of good form, scoring 8 of his 22 points in the fourth as the Wolves pressed their advantage.

When the Wolves finally hit the front, try as they may the Warriors just could not bridge the gap as the Wolves held on for a three point victory. Isaiah Rider also scored 22 for the Wolves, Beasley 20 and Wesley Johnson 18. Depth player Rashad McCants took advantage of his opportunity to get some decent minutes by nailing two trey's in the game on his way to 8 points on 3/3 shooting.

Photobucket
Wes Johnson had 18 points against the Warriors

The Wolves hit Phoenix after defeating Golden State and systematically pulled them apart. It was a case of a three headed beast for the Wolves in this game with Rider scoring 35 while Beasley and Bledsoe each added 27. Flynn had 14 assists and Telfair 11 on the back of some serious shooting performed by Bledsoe as he developed his role as the backbone of the second unit.

For Phoenix Carter scored 20 points and Channing Frye recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Pietrus scored 18 off the bench.

Photobucket
Beasley scored 27 in the big win against the Suns

The Portland game was simmed because I had played halfway through the third quarter when my xbox froze, I was trailing by four at the time and quite enjoying the challenge, however when I tried to replay I found myself bored and thus I simmed it and the Wolves were simmed the victory. Roy scored 33 for the Blazers and Rider 20 for the Wolves.

One more Game to come in Week 7, the Wolves at the Nuggets... that will be written up in the next entry.

During the first game of the week the Timberwolves turned the tables on the Knicks, who had defeated them earlier in the season. Isaiah Rider provided a dominating performance for the away team, scoring 30 points while dishing 10 assists and shooting 7 of 8 from the free throw line. The other pleasant surprise for the Wolves was the continued improvement shown from Eric Bledsoe, who managed to score 22 points in 19 minutes of action shooting 10 of 19 from the field, while also handing out 7 assists. Deandre Jordan and Anthony Randolph provided solid defence, each snaring 3 blocks.

Photobucket
Bledsoe scored 22 for the Wolves.

The game had been pretty even in the first half, but the Wolves blew it open with a 32 points to 19 effort in the third, from which the Knicks were never able to recover. The Knicks, already without Amare who was injured the last time these two teams met, lost Landry Fields early to a 2 week injury. Knicks faithful would be forgiven for thinking the Wolves had it in for their franchise. Unfortunately for the Knicks the Wolves shut down Carmelo Anthony, while top scoring with 17 for his team, shot a terrible 7 of 27 from the field. Chauncey Billups continued to showcase his veteran leadership with 16 points and 10 assists, although his shot selection from distance had a lot to be desired, shooting a paltry 2 of 10.

Photobucket
Rider top scored with 30 for the Wolves against the Knicks.

The first time the Wolves faced the Durant-less Thunder, they had blown them so far out of the water it was hard to imagine what was to come in their second match up. The Thunder, on the back of an exhilarating performance from Russell Westbrook started the game on fire, playing impressive defence while also scoring efficiently. The Thunder had shocked the Wolves, and took a 33 to 19 lead into the first break.

Opening the second Westbrook and James Harden continued to tear the Wolves apart, stretching their lead over the Minnesota team to 22 before the young Wolves led by Eric Bledsoe started to chip away at the margin, reeling it back to an 8 point deficit by the half. Bledsoe combined well with Sebastian Telfair who managed to dish 7 assists in 9 minutes of game time. Wes Johnson provided the defensive impetus to fight back amassing five steals and two blocks during the game.

Photobucket
Flynn throws down a dunk during the fightback

The third saw a back and forth affair as the Wolves pushed hard to cut the margin. The Thunder held for a while, but the Wolves finished strong to once again cut the margin by four, meaning they only trailed by four points going into the final quarter. Westbrook and Harden continued to play well, ably supported by Nate Robinson who scored 19 points on the night, but the tide had turned and Rider and Bledsoe tore the Thunder apart on their way to a 33 to 20 point quarter and a 9 point victory.

For the Thunder Westbrook scored 29 points while dishing 12 assists (however he had 10 turnovers) and Harden scored 25. For the Wolves Bledsoe backed up his 22 point performance against the Knicks with the team high 27 points. Rider scored 21 while shooting terribly from beyond the arc (1 of 6) and Beasley scored 18. Jonny Flynn recorded 7 points and 13 assists, in another excellent effort directing the team.

Photobucket
Bledsoe top scores for Wolves with 27

Despite an awesome 46 points from a completely unstoppable Rip Hamilton (who kept Detroit in the game until the final quarter, the Pistons just could not stay with the Wolves who went with a complete team effort to ground the Pistons down.

Photobucket
Rip, ripped into Wolves, scoring 46 points

Michael Beasley scored 20 to lead the team, while also grabbing 8 boards. Rider scored 19 and Martell Webster returning from injury scored 18 off the bench, although continued to complain of a sore back after the game. Anthony Randolph also added 18, 8 boards, 3 blocks and 2 assists on his way to the player of the game performance (although best individual performance was that of Hamilton by far).

Photobucket
Randolph was named player of the game

Eric Bledsoe struggled during his appearance, only scoring 6 points, but he did dish 10 assists, one shy of the assists dished by Flynn who also scored 6 points. Despite this lesser performance, it is understood the Wolves are viewing Bledsoe with one eye to the future. It has been said that Flynn, while prolific with assists, doesn't look to score enough at times. Bledsoe has a smooth shooting touch and at 19 years of age shows a lot of promise. Will be interesting to see how the Wolves progress in the future at the point spot, especially with several solid point guard prospects in the draft.

The final game of the week saw the Wolves meet Chicago and just never get out of second gear. The Bulls, lead by a dominant Derrick Rose (20 points, 12 assists, 5 steals) and Luol Deng (31 points) took a 12 point lead into the half and despite the best efforts of Isaiah Rider (40 points), nothing the Wolves did could allow them to peg back the margin, especially after Deandre Jordan went down hurt in the second period. Bledsoe scored 17 points on the night, and Martell Webster put in a shocking shooting performance on his way to 12 points and it was at this stage the Wolves made a decision to not play any hurt players in any subsequent games, the risk was just too high.

Rambis had this to say post game, "That Rose kid is just amazing, his vision is incredible. We didn't work hard enough tonight and we settled for too many deep looks rather than pushing into the rack. JR was the only guy out there willing to work hard for us in the paint. There just are not too many nights a guy drops 40 and his team loses by 17. A few guys will need to take a look at themselves after this performance.

Well December didn't go as well as we had hoped. We finished the month going 7-9, not nearly as good as we would like. Hedo spent some time out with injury in November and is again hurt at the end of December. He suffered a broken hand and will be out 4-6 weeks. Earl Clark will take his starting job and Mo Evans will give us some minutes off the bench.

Phoenix offered Josh Childress and Jared Dudley for Hedo and Jake Voskuhl. I rejected at the time because I don't like Childress much, but I may have to reconsider that offer when Hedo is healthy. He just can't play the defense we need and his offense is so inconsistent (I cannot make a shot with him when I play).

Hopefully this next month will go a little better, we're currently sitting at the 6th seed in the East and will need to move up if we want to succeed in the playoffs at all.

Post-Game Interviews

Alex Best (King's Head Coach): "This was the kind of game I saw the King's playing even before I joined the staff. All of the starters were working well together, and we just got a lot of great looks both on offense and defense. Expect more wins just like this in the future."

DeMarcus Cousins (Player Of The Game): "This was a fantastic game. It feels really good to finally get a win under our belt. It was a close one, but we managed to hold out and win. Just a lot of fun out there."

Tyreke Evans (Role Player): "They played a little dirty once they saw they were losing. I mean, my contact with Lawson near the end of the game was no accident. It's just sad when a team does that."

Jon Ratski's Review
It must feel great to finally get a win under their belt. The Nuggets stuck with the Kings for most of the game, actually shooting better then they did. Down by 3 with 20 seconds to go in the fourth, the Kings gave the ball to their new PG Jameer Nelson and he made a clutch three point shot to tie and send it into overtime. Then, in overtime, it was all Cousins and Evans, managing to sneak out the win. Let's see what was good and bad about this game.
  • A win's a win, even if it's only by one point.
  • The Nuggets made 2 more shots than the Kings did, shooting 49% to the King's 47%.
  • The slight foul advantage lead to the win, Kings going 10/14 on the line to the Nugget's 8/10
  • Nuggets managed to out-block the best blocking team in the league, 6 to 1
  • Kings finally got it going in the paint, scoring 44 down low.
  • Tyreke Evans came close to a Player of the Game performance, shooting 60% on the field with 8-9 at the free throw line, landing 21 points.
  • Cousins could not be stopped, going 10-13 and snagging 6 rebounds.
  • Although his shooting was rough, Nelson hit three's when it counted, going 4-18 on the floor and 3-8 beyond the arc.
  • Thompson and Garcia still hiding in the shadows, both only scoring 4 points with less than 4 shots each.
  • Dalembert had a great day off the bench, shotting 3-4 and adding 6 points to the total.
  • When two players manage to score over half your teams points, you'll win. Nice play from Evans and Cousins.

The end of November has come and the Magic are sitting fairly happy at 13-5. Only the Knicks and Mavericks have more wins with 15 each, however the Knicks have played 20 games and the Mavs have only played 17.

As you can see we are getting pretty respectable stats all around. I would like to see Dwight's scoring jump up a bit and that just means getting him more touches as he is shooting over 50 percent.

We have the second most productive offense at 105.7 points per game and the ninth best scoring defense at 96.1 points allowed per game. Only three teams win by more points per game than the Magic.

We have the best three point percentage out of any team at .394 but the second lowest free throw percentage at .707.

Overall we're doing well to start the season, but we really need to work on hitting our free throws and making sure we hit the boards hard. I'm going to push for more post touches for Dwight and continue to work to develop our players. Dwight will be helping tutor Michael Beasley and Brandon Bass in their post defense skills and our coaching staff is Earl Clark to develop his shot.

Rafer Alston has been signed to a 1 year deal using our mid level exception to help our point guard play off the bench. He's been in Orlando before and is familiar with our team and staff and should provide some good minutes for us.
