To follow on to Bucc's Live Aid posting, the performance that vaulted U2 to superstar status:

Is there another song from a band (besides the Grateful Dead) that seems to always sound better live than "Bad"?

Buccaneer 02-23-2007 10:16 PM

in person than live. I'm buzzed but I can't folow that./

in person refers to a concert, as opposed to a vinyl, CD, or 8 track recording

"Live" is the name of the song.

:D

cartman 02-23-2007 10:25 PM

Or maybe I'm the one that's buzzed.

The name of the song is Bad, and it is most famous from the Wide Awake in America album, titled as "Bad(Live)". The studio version on "The Unforgettable Fire" is nowhere near as good as the "Live Aid" or WWiA versions

Buccaneer 02-23-2007 10:49 PM

Sabres/Senators brawl from last night. Not the greatest fight but one where you get to see the goalies go at it. Then goalie versus player. First 2 minutes is all you need.

To continue the music theme:

Too bad their lead singer, Brad Nowell, OD'd before they truly hit it big. They had the makings of an awesome band. Their eponymous major label album is still in my regular rotation.

IT'S BIG BANANA DAY.

I remember my daughter was watching this show when it originally aired. I was in the other room or something, and man, it's horribly perverse when you listen to the episode rather than watch.

I'm really upset after watching this.

Someone must have been spying on me, because I sing this very song verbatim every time I'm about to take a lady to pleasuretown-Population: Her

I think it would have been even more awesome if when he put it in drive and hit the gas, the car just flew through the projector screen.

really old video of the Ben Folds Five and "Philosophy" from a British show; amazing how young Ben looks here. Still, great sound and great (if a bit dangerous for the seizure-prone) video...

I grew up as an LSU fan, but I've gotta give Chris Porter credit for this dunk he put on the Tigers back in 1999:

Pumpy Tudors 03-21-2007 08:54 AM

Also, here's Tracy McGrady's 13 points in 33 seconds... IN ITALIAN!

The final minute of commentary is the best. With about 1:00 left in the video, the commentator screams something that sounds like "SAN ANTONIO PATOOTIE!" Then, a few seconds later, he speaks a few words of English that I will never, ever forget. :D

Copy and paste the Embed code to the right of the video into the post.

Be sure to highlight the code and click the "remove link" button in the WYSIWYG editor, too. That's the part that I didn't do at first, and it completely futzed up my post.

Nice. The best part of that clip (OK, maybe second-best) is the reaction of the crowd & bench.

Yep, it's very cool. That's the kind of dunk that would just get you out of your seat. The LSU players on the court looked like they couldn't believe what had just happened, too.

MJ4H 03-21-2007 10:45 AM

That dunk was pretty sick.

Pumpy Tudors 03-21-2007 11:04 AM

Watching that dunk again, I see Stromile Swift just putting his hands up and bracing himself for the thunder. I love that dunk.
