As much shit as I've given this series, hats off to Episode 8. The first truly great episode. About damn time.

Olivia Cooke was outstanding in last night's episode. She carried it.
Ignoring the obvious scene from last night that doesn't need to be mentioned, they've struggled to make Larys anything more than a cheesy villain that they constantly have to remind us is lurking in the shadows. |
The finale should be fun. It'll really kick off the entire series.

I'm loving the slow paced intrigue of the first 9 episodes. Reminds me of the early seasons, where there was maybe one major battle per season, not per episode.
And when people go to battle, they can be gone for 6 years, and it's not just a 5 minute segment of one episode. |
I wasn’t sure at first but I’m all for these jumps in time if it gets us through a few more bloodlines throughout the entire run of the show. The show has done a great job building up the main families. Would like to see a bit more from the auxiliary houses like the Lannister’s for example as the show goes on.

Great season. I feel fully invested and the story has been laid out well. The dragons are simply fantastic, and Vhagar is a world unto herself.

Predictable final episode, but very good nonetheless.
As ass as episodes 2-7 were, 8-10 saved the season and series |
I'm going to wait until the whole thing is finished so if they cock up the final season again* I don't have to watch it.
*This isn't just GoT. The Man in the High Castle was also superb until the last season (and especially towards the end of the last season) when it seemed like the writers had suddenly left for other shows. |
