CL Benny Myers Rookie of the Year Award Handed Out
Tuesday, November 18th, 2149: Reginald Oprel's age didn't show very often in his first year. The 22-year-old starter registered a 13-4 record this season in 26 starts. Over 166.1 innings he gave up 146 hits, struck out 149 and issued 58 walks as he held the opposition to a .233 batting average and fashioned a 3.14 ERA. Gibson Takes Home RL Gabriel Prado Award Thursday, November 20th, 2149: What does it take to win the Gabriel Prado Award? "It's not like I shoot for the Gabriel Prado Award," he said. "I have big aspirations for what I want to do in this game and what I want to achieve in a long career." The Winged Lingerines pitching ace made some of his dreams come true this year, winning 21 games and losing only 5. Sucks when you have a clean sweep of the awards and your team CHOKES in the first round.

Yeah Eddie there's something wrong with the world when something like that happens. :( But you'll be back for awhile for sure. It's your time to shine. |

File is up. We will do FA sim 2, spring training, and the draft Monday morning.
|
Chico and Chief writing some big checks. And don't think I didn't see that bigboy pitcher, Eddie :)
|
I got Tidwell back. Full circle, I guess. My pitching is still a LONG way from being competitive, though. There just wasn't much help available in this free agent class. I didn't want to overspend on Haney or on Rodriguez.
|
ugh, i wanted a nice, cheap 5th starter, so I offer Woodard(i think thats his name) a decent contract, and he retires, at 30!
|
that's right, Johnny he hates you. He just held a press conference saying, "If all I can get is a palce on the Marlboros, then I'm retiring!" :D
|
Quote:
What ya mean bigboy pitcher? |
Quote:
Meaning bought a pitcher with a big contract this last FA, but relooking at it, I see it's an extension...and a 4 year one at that. Hmmm only 4 mill a year. I thought it was more than that. I just like seeing people spend money. :) |
Quote:
Just extending my guys through their Arby years. Hopefully saving money..... |
Everyone has exported outside of the 2 teams that are in vacation mode. So I'm going to get started early today. The wife has me on a time frame today. She "has" to rearrange the house today. For my troubles she is going to clean my desk. My desk "needs" to be cleaned. Quick someone tell her job that she needs to not be laid off anymore. :)

File is up. We will sim the season tomorrow morning.

Picks a plenty! Including 2 SP in the first round! I'll take em! :)
|
File is uploaded again to reflect the trade. Afino and Lynchy MUST and I STRESS BOTH MUST download the file again and upload.

I hate that OOTP gives away my compensation picks for my own signings. In MLB, I believe, the only picks a team can have taken away for compensation are their own, original picks. I know we're not MLB, but we have always tried to model ourselves in that manner, and I know this happens not because of a design decision on the part of the OOTP team, but a lack of realization of how their free agent comp module is doing its job.
|
Quote:
I agree Chief. It needs to be customizable for each league. |
Wait! If you sign your own FAs you lose your picks??? How? Who do the picks go to? :(
|
If someone signs a FA of yours and you get a 1st round pick from them you will lose that acquired pick if you sign a type A.
|
So I lost a pick for re-signing Nieto? :(
|
Chief signed one of my players so he had to give one of his 1st round pick to me. The pick I received was the 1st round pick he got from someone else because they signed one of his type A FA.
|
Yup! And it wasn't even a very good Type A either. Why would Jose Gonzalez cost a first rounder, lol. Oh well... I really needed the pitching.
|
Wasn't it Hernandez that was a type A Chief?
|
Quote:
No, you're okay. You can resign your own players. It won't cost you a pick. |
Quote:
Haha it might have been. I signed several players this past sim. I signed multiple Type As. Hernandez I don't mind so much. He's a solid addition to the lineup. |
I'm almost certain it was Hernandez that was the type A. FTR I was hoping to resign him over getting the pick. I just tried to get him at a lower contract and it back-fired this time.
|
Still confused...
Quote:
It's sounding like you are saying you lost a pick for resigning your own player. Quote:
Which is why I asked this. Quote:
Yeah I know this part. Quote:
Ohhhhhhhh. I get it. I always assumed it did this just to balance out the equation. Makes since really. Otherwise it would probably run out of rounds. having to dig down into 4th and 5th and beyond (which doesn't exist.) If you don't want to lose picks, simple. Don't sign anyone that gets you picks or else release enough good A's that you'll get more picks to compensate. |
Man, for the first time I actually had to make a decision to cut someone because I ended up over the cap with my trade.
Granted, it was just my #6 RP, but still :) |
