It was an awesome August for
Bill Sawyer. The young
London starter surprised opponents all month and today was announced as the Continental League Rookie of the Month.
In 6 starts he registered a 4-1 record and racked up 50 strikeouts and a 0.98 ERA in 46 innings.
Sawyer has fashioned a 11-8 mark for the season, 3.39 ERA and thrown 180.1 innings in 27 starts. Opposing clubs are batting .225 against him.

What a fantastic August it was for
Mi-yuan Yap! The
Maricopa right fielder battered Republic League hurlers for a .336 batting average as he easily claimed the Rookie of the Month Award.
He tallied 2 home runs, 15 RBIs and 26 runs scored in the month-long assault. Yap also had 18 walks for a .423 on-base percentage.
If he continues to outpace the rookie class like this, he could very well be the 2118 Kien-lung Teng Award winner.
To date
Yap has chalked up a .296 average with 13 home runs, driven in 52 runs and scored 111 times.
