Thinking about a new laptop this year. I'm a Thinkpad and XPS fan (its gotta look good also!).

I'm thinking about the 2018 XPS 15 (which isn't on sale yet in the US) because it'll have a big screen, good graphics for game playing (e.g. combining an Intel chip with a new RX Vega M GL).

Most of the 2018 Thinkpads have the Intel 620 but there are some with the MX150 which from my research isn't that great compared to RX Vega M. If the Thinkpads were magically paired with the RX Vega M (probably next year), I would jump on it.

Main concern is Dell had problems with throttling, overheating, coil whine etc. in 2017 XPS's. So I'll wait for the user reviews before buying.
