So I have debated for a while if I should post this or not. It's been difficult to determine if it was appropriate, but ultimately I decided that the person impacted was mentioned frequently enough that readers probably deserve to know.
Shortly after graduation, Ross Valdez went on a hike with his father, and tragedy struck. Ross' dad suffered a massive heart attack. Ross attempted CPR on him for 45 minutes before paramedics were able to get to the scene. The funeral was last night, and almost the entire swim team was present. Bear got back home last night after 1 A.M.
We have offered to help however we can, but they live almost 2 hours away, so I don't expect them to ask for anything. I don't believe Ross' mother works, so I'm not sure what the family's plan will be. I'm assuming she'll move in with extended family somewhere. I hope Ross' future isn't derailed by this, as he was applying to medical schools at the time.
