In May he was voted the Rookie of the Month Award.
During the month he hit .384 with 5 doubles, 1 triple and 3 home runs.
Mateo also scored 18 times and drove in 16 runs.

Jim Burgess just sewed up the Rookie of the Month trophy for May.
Over the past month the 24-year-old first baseman for
Chico hit .329 with 23 hits, 7 home runs and 21 runs batted in. He also logged 6 walks and compiled a .377 on-base percentage.
Thus far this season in 41 games Burgess is batting .306 with 12 home runs, 37 RBIs and 22 runs scored. He has 41 hits in 134 at-bats.
