Ed McGinnis of
Havana.
"It's always nice to receive an award like this," said McGinnis. "I just hope I can improve on my performance next year and be in the running again," the Banana Sluggers star told reporters.
McGinnis excelled with an impressive 18-11 record in 33 starts. In 233.1 innings he yielded 222 hits and 62 walks, while striking out 193 and compiling a fine 3.09 ERA.

Ann Arbor Wolverines have a rising superstar or maybe even a budding Hall-of-Famer in the making.
It's
Freddy Castillo, this year's Republic League Mauro Morales Award selection. This blossoming hurler wowed fans, peers and sportswriters with a fabulous performance.
Castillo compiled a 18-5 record in 38 starts, tallied 236 strikeouts in 227.2 innings and recorded a 2.65 ERA. Other clubs managed only a .233 batting average against him.
