What we have in the AL is essentially three pre-playoff series. Which is downright hilarious, it's as if the scheduling gods knew.

You have the current 2 v. 3, 4 v. 5 and 6 v 7.

So it's completely insane. At this point, a team out of that field is guaranteed to finish 2nd when all of this is done. What'll be more murky, is who ends up finish 3rd. There are a bevy of scenarios that I won't bother to replay out since no one is paying attention right now, that would otherwise determine who'd get into the post-season or whether we'll have any number of tiebreakers to sort all of the muckery out.

But enough talking, let's get to it.

If Cuyahoga wins tomorrow and St. Louis and Memphis lose, they're in the playoffs. Winnemucca wins any of the next two games at St. Louis and they're in automatically.

In the NL, Washington holds a 1 game lead for the top spot with two games to go over Carolina.

So Winnemucca clinched the 2nd AL spot. Which leaves Memphis and Cuyahoga tied for the 3rd wild card spot. They're playing each other, so the winner of that game would clinch the 3rd spot unless St. Louis beats Winnemucca, in which case we'll have a 1-game playoff in the AL for that 3rd spot, for the 2nd straight year. Oh, but it's not done. Because if Chicago beats Cleveland, they'll ALSO have 89 wins and then we'll have a 3-way tie for the 3rd spot in the AL.

Hooray tiebreakers.

In the NL, Washington just needs to win tomorrow or have Carolina lose and they clinch the top spot in that league.

So San Diego, Winnemucca and Cuyahoga -- all playoff teams last year -- return to the postseason, for the latter of the three, managing to do so despite switching leagues.

Well if nothing else, parity is alive and well in SLOP. This season will mark the sixth straight year a different team wins the championship and in fact, neither pennant winner from last year even qualified for the playoffs this season and so, it'll be a different cast no matter what. Since Winnemucca's three-peat, parity has ruled the roost.

Ok, so the file is up. I'll update the HTML in the morning. We'll sim the playoffs on Friday morning. It'd be fun to do a sim when people might actually be awake to see it. Officially the deadline is tomorrow night at midnight like normal, because depending on my schedule I might have to sim tomorrow night rather than Friday...but tentatively, I'd like to do a day sim on Friday for the post-season.

Dev is already updated though.

Congrats playoff teams.

That is unbelievable. 49-32 in the second half. Payroll of 22 million. How the F do we make the playoffs after dumping the likes of Pat Kenady, Chris Ross, and Jimmy Speegle over the last two seasons? This was supposed to be a 3 year rebuild.

Crazy crazy.

I had a strong feeling your team would do well in the NL. I didn't think it'd be this team though. I was amazed seeing them hanging tough all season, but it makes up for those underachieving juggernauts you had in the rough and tumble AL for a bit there.

Congrats to you.

Maybe something to check, but on my team salary page in game it shows Aiden Murphy is due $46.2m(A) in 1872.

I thought that was a typo at first....but nope.

Here's the best part:

Code:
Player IP H R ER BB K HR PI PS ERA O. Pesante 1.2 7 18 17 12 0 2 93 35 91.84

You'd think after that many runs, they'd try another position player

I tried the first half with just three starters just to see how the new settings would change things. We were seven games out at the break. I added a fourth pitcher and even though he went 7-14 we were able to pull out another playoff spot.

SLOP Box Scores, Columbus Crusaders at Kauai Emeralds, 09/11/1864

They actually did, that's the best part. 2 2/3 innings after that guy got torched and he fared better.

I'm going to sim the playoffs tonight. Tomorrow is going to be busy and I don't want to get distracted in the morning and have to wait until after the weekend.

So yeah, just an FYI.

Is fatigue going to be reset? I'm not sure why but all five of my starting pitchers are listed as tired right now, which I found odd.

I will take a look at the fatigue settings for next season. I won't change them for the post-season so it's consistent with how we played all year, but I'll probably adjust them slightly, because I want depth to be important in rotations, but don't want teams with five-man rotations having situations where they don't have even one starter who can go every 5th day (or 4th) because that's just not realistic.

Congrats to Carolina, winning the NL pennant for the 2nd time in 3 years and 9th time in franchise history.

Meanwhile, Washington loses in the NLCS for the 5th time in franchise history (dating back to the Los Angeles days) and for the 4th straight year in a row. Poor DC fans.

Carolina seeks their 4th SLOP championship in franchise history. Meanwhile, the Cuyahoga Spiders look to claim their first in the 4th year of the team's existence.
