I hope they work out for him.

i called your bluff. hahaha

i can't go wrong with either of those guys. both are 30 or younger, signed for under $4million combined to play this season and under $5million combined to play next season. i'll see which one pans out (hopefully both) and resign each cheaply. they look like they'll easily transition to back-end of the rotation types, and that's best case scenario. i'm just biding time until i can aquire some better talent to feature as my #2 and #3. they'll be good stopgaps and considering i didn't have to give anything up to get them it worked out for me big time.

this now allows me to move Pablo Gonzales who i LOVE as my #5. i think that was the achilles heal of my team - #5 SP. last 2 seasons we've lost 20+ games from our #5, if we can get a guy who can go 10-10, 11-9 then we're very money this season. we got the MVP of the league in SS Crawford, John Hunt, 2 time All-star OF Joe Smith and all around threat 3B Arthur Summers. that's a very nice set of batters right there, and i didn't even have to mention Alfredo Lopez, one of the hardest hitting lefty sluggers in the game.

Exports from everyone except Columbus, New York and Rio Grande.

We also welcome back two previous owners this year.

Allpro, who beat me in the 1967 FOOL Classic has returned. He will be moving Compton back to Ann Arbor for a second generation of Ann Arbor Wolverines baseball.

Dark Cloud helped last year behind the scenes by keeping Compton competitive with minor signings and roster setting. He returns for good to take over the struggling New Orleans franchise. He will be moving them to Boston where they will become the Boston Bombers and try to provide a championship to a city that was once so close to the FOOL Classic.

It was a more practical consideration than anything else. At the point that I'm downloading the file and posting here and giving the BoD my .02 cents, it just makes sense that I'd run a team and make it worth my while.

Plus, if nothing else, I'm addicted to my own creation. So in this case, I'm not getting high on my supply, it's as if I've sold the business and I still get residuals.

Ok, I went through and removed all player pictures and forced the game to reprocess all pictures. If any don't look correct or have the caps, jerseys, logo or colors wrong in this file.. please let me know what exactly is wrong so i can address it. I don't necessarily see what you see, so you need to describe exactly what doesn't look right if possible.

Tommorrow night I'll be listing what new changes to expect for the next season (1982 and on), as well as commenting on any new league wide official polls that will be taken regarding any "hot issues". I'm going to try to set it so that type of news comes out every Thursday each week, so the Board has enough time to discuss anything that they find the need to leading up to that.

What, slinging $100,000,000 deals around isn't active?

I've been watching. Just not doing much... I kinda like how my team's sitting right now. Keeping an eye out for any trades that might be beneficial, but haven't seen any yet. I've got last year's pitcher of the year for 2.4 million for another year. Gotta love that!

Well I had my first real disappointments this offseason. Lost a couple of potentially great relievers who I had hoped might escape the notice of you guys. Wrong, lol.

On the other hand I'm extremely happy to be bringing in a great leadoff guy in LF Roussy, a bullpen anchor in Kiemon Ine, and my closer Fontenot from last season. In addition, I signed a fantastic extension with my SP Beens. Beens was making 8+ mil per year and took a pay cut to stay with the team. A 4 year deal worth just over 4 mil per year. I shored up what I think will be a core player for years to come, 1B Pila to a 4 year deal at 5.5 mil per year. A great deal for me, as I believe this 1980 RoY would command twice that in as little as year, maybe two.

With Roussy, Pila, 2B/SS Jesse Chase, and talented CF Fernando Herrera as a core going forward, Chicago is perhaps just one major hitter away from having the kind of lineup to compete with the top of the division.

The Black Sox pitching staff, however, will be a concern this year and next without Arrojo and Harpin to anchor top spots in the rotation. I had already anticipated a 4 man squad, but will now have to look hard at the remaining FA's to even fill out a reduced rotation. Audelo and Tarpin, from my AAA squad, may be pressed into service sooner than anticipated. 29 year-old Ite Beens will likely become the team's ace, and it is hoped that the aging John McDonald will remain productive in the last two years of his 8 million dollar contract. Fortunately, the Black Sox bullpen looks decent as they will be called upon frequently this year.

The biggest offseason news in Chicago of course is the last minute deal with the Boston Bombers to send star players Arrojo, Harpin, and Rasmussen in exchange for basically a song. While appearing one-sided on the surface, the deal will allow Chicago to reload immediately next year with talent from the VL as well as FOOL league free agents. Because of the double digit contracts of Rassmussen and Arrojo, Chicago would have had to wait at least 2 more years to begin building up the core of a future FOOL Classic champion.

With the deal done to send Arrojo, Rasmussen, and Harpin to Boston, the Chicago fire department has had to step up patrols of the many bridges in the the Windy City as a another season of sub-.500 baseball looms on the horizon. In an attempt to calm the many would be jumpers, the police have repeatedly reminded them that the season is just a day long in the FOOL League, and far less than the 80+ years of torment that the neighboring Cubs have foisted upon the city. This had a unexpected consequence as Cub fan, reminded of their teams ineptitude---lined up on the bridges next to Black Sox fan. Meanwhile, the Bears superfan, being of a rough and tumble sort, and drunk from drinking beers at Ditka's all morning, did not help the situation as they chanted "Jump! Jump! Jump! Jump! Baseball is for da sissy's! How bout Daaa Bears!"

It's going to be a long year...ah...day...in Chi-Town.

Yeah dude, you have your second 2-blue number pitcher. You're right, you can now challenge the Pooners....the BRIDGEPORT Harpooners.

My export was in earlier. Too bad I couldn't get any outfielders last night so I only have 2 who are major league ready. Tried to sign some tonight, if I don't get one or two I may be highly screwed.

I'm here if anyone wants to talk trade. Lots of pitcher talk--but they're still all on my team, so obviously nothing has happened yet. If you're looking for pitching, PM me--now!

this now allows me to move Pablo Gonzales who i LOVE as my #5. i think that was the achilles heal of my team - #5 SP. last 2 seasons we've lost 20+ games from our #5, if we can get a guy who can go 10-10, 11-9 then we're very money this season. we got the MVP of the league in SS Crawford, John Hunt, 2 time All-star OF Joe Smith and all around threat 3B Arthur Summers. that's a very nice set of batters right there, and i didn't even have to mention Alfredo Lopez, one of the hardest hitting lefty sluggers in the game.

Heh...never got back to you on this, Anthony. I really do wish you luck with those guys. I have a certain type of player that I like, so if I acquired them, they're my type of player. And if they're there in ATL long enough, I grow attached. Hate to see talent wasted at AAA, and that happens alot with my teams. So I am rooting for them, and I hope they do well for you.

Probably going to need more time, assuming the draft list gets funky on me like it usually does. I am trying to get it set, though. I'll post. Sorry.

A little bit of housekeeping to start. I'll mention most of this again at the end also just to make sure it is seen.

- Remember the VL will be disbanded on Sunday's sim (FOOL CLassic sim). Additional free agents will be in the pool after that sim if anyone plans on saving money for any of them.

- There is an official vote regarding the possibility of playoff expansion posted on the forum. It will expire in one week, so please make sure to vote.

- A new measure called "New Owner bailout plan" has been created and will be added to the stickied Rule book post. Any new owner that joins the league is entitled to cut at no cost $20million total value worth of contracts as a 1 time option during the FOOL Classic sim of their first complete season in the league. This does not apply to old owners coming back or old owners switching teams. An owner can cut more than $20million worth of contracts, however any overage would have to come off of the following season's salary cap. As a one time exception, Chicago Black Sox will qualify for this during the 1981 season as they joined the league during the financial changes but too late to take advantage of dumping players that other teams had prior to the rule changes.

- Starting with the next board of directors vote/term, the board of directors will be changed to a 6 season term with a rotating schedule of every 2 years a different board member is up for re-election. More info regarding this will be posted at the time of the next scheduled election/nomination.

I swear if you sign the ONE guy I offered to, my head is gonna explode. Grey matter everywhere. This offseason has just plain sucked.
