Riley Nelson played just bad enough to keep it close, but was clutch in the end. Sloppy game but an exciting finish and another 10 win season for the Cougars.

Cody Hoffman and Kyle Van Noy just sophmores too, both these guys will play in the NFL.

That was a fun little game. I do hate all these games being back loaded into a couple of days go. So much empty space in December.

Which school's fans are using those d*** cowbells? They made this game unwatchable.

The cowbells alone place Miss State 4th on my most hated teams list....I thought the SEC had banned those :hrmph:

Did you really think there was a chance that Wake fans were using cowbells?

I'd be fine with a death penalty punishment for the damn cowbells. Those things make vuvuzelas seem tolerable.

For the UT fans out there, how long does he have left?

Even if it means Arnett would go to State instead of Michigan, it's a classless move on Dooley's part.

I wasn't going to watch this game - but as a big 10 fan I had to at least watch the first quarter. Iowa's defense playing tough so far to keep them in it. The interception returned inside the 10 yard line is the difference so far. That and the failed 4th and 1 within the 10 yard line for Iowa.

We'll see how much longer Iowa's defense hangs tough.

I thought this was a bad match up for Iowa. It would be nice to see some offense out of them at least.

Coach Doofus should be secure until at least another 5 win season is complete (and judging from the schedule next year 5 looks about right with 6 max). He's hanging on at this point because of the rapid changes from Fulmer to Kiffy to CDD, not because anyone paying attention thinks he can actually handle the job (at least I hope no one still in power in Knoxvegas is that stupid)

That said, I don't know that I'm bothered by this a lot right now, at least not without being sure that there isn't more to the story. It's easy enough to take the reason for the transfer request at face value but that doesn't make it the right assumption either.

For as little faith as I have in Doofus, I don't find myself having much more in the motivations of the average player either.

Nice win by Rutgers over Iowa State last night to go to 9-4 on the year. It doesn't mean anything, but it's RU's 5th consecutive bowl win and a nice end to a season where most pundits picked the Scarlet Knights to finish dead last in the Big East.

First play of the Sun Bowl kind of sums up the GT football fan experience.
(50ish yd completion to Hill, called back for offensive PI)

No shock that most of the Husky defensive staff has been fired as of today. The only one to survive was DL coach Johnny Nansen and that's probably only because he's the recruiting coordinator.

Big Ten could be 1-3 out of the gate depending on how well Illinois does. Not the team I would want to have playing to decide that fate. I know UCLA is bad as well, so I think that's some sort of small hope there, but this is a coaching staff which some of it was protesting coaching in a bowl game due to Zook being let go. As screwed up as both of these teams are, we get to see which one is worse off today.

OMG, GT not only took the lead over Utah but just extended it to 14 with a pick six.

The TD pass that put them in front was the first time the Jackets have had a lead of more than four points in a bowl game since the 1st quarter of the 2007 Emerald Bowl.

The last time the Jackets had a 14+ point lead in a bowl game was the 4th quarter of the Gator Bowl 1/1/07 ... they proceeded to give up 21 unanswered to WVU in a 38-35 loss.

No lead is safe with Al Groh as your DC. Another bowl, another example of the glistening mediocrity of GT football.

I'm honestly disturbed by what went through my mind after that 4th quarter.
I don't think I've ever had a less humane thought in my life, to the point I'm actually bothered by the fact that I went there.

As bad as I think the Big Ten might be, I think the Pac-12 will end up being worse. UCLA went 5-4 in conference play. Illinois went 2-6. Illinois up 20-7.

Illinois wins 20-14. The drive where UCLA was first and goal only to go backwards, have a dropped TD pass, and then miss a field goal hurt.

The PAC-12 south was a mess. UCLA was a bigger mess than Illinois was. UCLA's 5-4 record also came at the expense of missing Oregon and Washington

After losing the Kraft Bowl to Illinois, UCLA is a lot like Brian Scalabrine: 6-8 and crappy.

Penn State Nittany Lions quarterback Matt McGloin out of TicketCity Bowl - ESPN

Looks like Bolden will be the QB against Houston. I'm not sure PSU's defense was good enough to keep them close even before the fight, but this just feels like a really bad situation for PSU now.

Nice way for Keenum to end his college career (assuming he keeps this up). 17-0 Houston now and PSU still trying to pick up its first 1st down.

Told y'all PSU was a joke. Quality win for 'Bama, indeed.

edit: that's one heck of a return though

Keenum with 381 Yards at the half. I hope Penn State scores a couple times just so that he can go for 600 or sth crazy like that.

Wisconsin scoring as much as they did in both games against MSU is looking good now. Both defenses are stout so far. Field position game right now and MSU not taking advantage of better field position as of late.

edit: and two plays later touchdown GA on a bomb.

Hail mary to close out the half for South Carolina to give them the lead at the half. Sheesh. A little push in the back before the ball came down but horrible defensive play by Nebraska. That will probably seal the deal.. we'll see if Nebraska can turn this around.

And as I type this, Georgia with a 90+ yard punt return for a touchdown.

Not looking good now for the Big 10.... not that it was expected to look good. Ouch.
