6 minute mark: Cardozo just saved a sure goal with a great tackle as Christophe had beaten Blanco in the box.

8 minute mark: Sanchez with a breakaway.. he shoots from 12 yards out.. Blanco saves it.

10 minute mark: Trotta picks up a yellow for pushing Sanchez.. that is bad as Trotta is the only defender with the speed to keep up with Sanchez.

20 minute mark: Rodrigues throws it into to Rooney int he left half of the box.. he crosses it for the near post.. King outjumps Gavilan.. he heads it.. upper left corner.. GOAL!!!! 1-0.

30 minute mark: Blanco does a nice job of intercepting a cross before the striker can head it.

39 minute mark: Villa steals the ball and passes it to Mauro Di Mauro just outside the box.. he takes two dribbles just inside the box.. he shoots.. powerful shot.. curving.. upper left corner.. Blanco dives.. just past him. GOAL. 1-1.

Halftime: 1-1 tie. They have just under 60,000 fans here today.

51 minute mark: Ortega passes to king right of the box.. King with a crisp long cross.. far post.. Rooney heads it.. GOA.. NO! Whistle. Rooney is called for pushing the defender.. The announcer believes that was a dubious call by Michael Morris. King argues the call.. yellow card on King.

61 minute mark: King isn't playing well. Adriano on for him.

68 minute mark: Godoy on for Tamburini.

76 minute mark: Rodrigues passes to Rooney in the left half of the box.. he draws two defenders.. he passes it back to Rodrigues.. Rodrigues with a quick centering pass to Parker.. Parker shoots.. upper right corner.. GOAL!!!! 2-1.

80 minute mark: Trotta races back to catch Sanchez from behind to stop a breakaway!

81 minute mark: Parker passes it to Rodrigues.. he passes it back to Parker.. Parker passes back to Rodrigues in the left half of the box.. he shoots.. upper right corner.. GOAL!!!! 3-1. Rodrigues with a surprisingly good debut!

84 minute mark: Blanco with a key save on a Di Mauro breakway.

Game over. 3-1 win for us Huge win without a few of our big stars.

We outshot them 12-6 (4-3 on target)

Ortega wins MoM, 8 for form, 24 of 32 passes, 4 key passes, 2 of 6 tackles, 4 of 7 headers, 2 interceptions, 7 runs, 2 fouls drawn.

Rodrigues also had an 8 for form. 25 of 41 passes, 1 of 3 tackles, 4 of 6 headers, 3 runs, 1 assist, and a goal.

King had a 6. Everyone else had a 7. That game by Rodrigues *might* signal the end of the Downing era since I plan on letting him go via Bosman rules after the season.

My Physio tells me that Trotta and Cardozo both need rest.

Millwall has hired Rafael van der Vaart as their new manager!

The 35 year old former player has quickly moved up the managerial ranks.

Millwall is currently last in the EC.

Jan 13, 2019 -

Deportivo have offered 53 million dollars for Michael Oswald. That is an impressive sum for a guy who is primarily a rotator for me.. However, I love the depth he brings to the team and if Flores fails, he could become a primary starter. I counter by asking for 90 million.

Jan 16, 2019 -

Michele Amoroso said it was a dream come true to play for us, and he rejected offers from Tottenham and Arsenal to come join our club as a Bosman player despite my making it clear to him that he would not be a regular starter.

Today we host Aston Villa in an EPL Match. They are 8th in the EPL while we are in 1st. They are missing 3 of their top players due to injuries. However, they still have superstar striker Luke Moore who has 16 goals on the year. However with his top two playmakers missing, he should be easier to stop.

We are 4-6 favorites.

It's raining with temperatures in the 30's.

13 minute mark: Rodrigues passes to Flores in the box.. he spins away from a defender.. he shoots.. lower right corner.. GOAL!!!! 1-0. Flores with a great move!

Halftime: 1-0 lead. Our guys are just coasting.

We have over 78,000 fans here today.

65 minute mark: Rodrigues with good persistance, fights to get a ball to Flores in the box.. he shoots.. the keeper blocks it.. Adriano drills the rebound into the net! GOAL!!!! 2-0.

75 minute mark: Wright on for Adriano and Petit on for Salva.

Game over. 2-0 win for us

We outshot them 15-3 (6-0 on target)

Flores won MoM, 8 for form, 19 of 22 passes, 1 key pass, 1 of 1 tackles, 6 of 11 headers, 3 runs, 1 foul drawn, 1 assist, and 1 goal.

Schmidt had an 8 as well. Godoy had a 6. Everyone else had a 7.

Rodrigues did enough to get at least one more start at some point in the near future if Pinna is injured or needs rest.

Oops, forgot to post the preview and post-match results of the last 3 days. Nothing big happened except Liverpool added a talented left winger (but he is slow) for 15 million dollars from Atletico de Madrid. The preview talked about our upcoming match against Chelsea at home in the 4th round of the FA Cup:

12 minute mark: Cech makes a pair of acrobatic saves on shots by Adriano and Heller.

26 minute mark: Trotta with a great run down the left sideline.. he crosses it to Godoy.. the keeper is out of position as he tried to intercept the cross.. Godoy shoots.. a defender blocks it and knocks it wide of the net.

34 minute mark: Ortega with a corner kick.. Cardozo heads it.. upper left corner.. GOAL!!!! 1-0.

Halftime: 1-0 lead. We have a sellout of over 91,000 fans here today.

65 minute mark: Blanco with a pair of key saves on shots by Adu and De Weerd.

73 minute mark: King on for Adriano and Boogaart on for Miller.

81 minute mark: Blanco tips a point blank shot from Adu over the bar.

87 minute mark: Ortega passes to King 25 yards out.. King with a spectacular dribble around Woodard.. another great move completely fakes out Cech.. he shoots into the open net! GOAL!!!! 2-0. King made that happen

Game over. 2-0 win for us.
Ortega wins MoM, 10 for form, 20 of 21 passes, 3 key passes, 1 of 2 tackles, 1 of 4 headers, 3 interceptions, 19 runs, 2 assist.

Blanco, Cardozo, Schmidt, Downing, and Rooney all had 8's for form.
King also had an 8 off the bench. Everyone else had 7's.

Jan 20, 2019 -

Roma offered 21 million for Pinna. That is an easy offer to reject.

Another unfavorable draw in the FA Cup as we missed getting several EC teams (including Hull who I would have loved to play.) Instead, we will travel to play Arsenal.

Michael Heller hurt his knee in training today and will miss at least a week. This includes our key matchups coming up with Chelsea. Heller has told the media he is very upset that he was hurt and hates to miss those matches.

Newcastle has spent 38 million dollars to sign Yoann Klein from Reggina. Yoann is a VERY talented right winger who is from France and is only 26 years old. He is entering his prime, and is a very good acquisition. He doesn't have top speed or physical abilities, but he is good in those areas. However, he is a superb technical and mental player. Very nice pickup for Newcastle.

Adriano had a shutout for Brazil in their 2-0 win over Peurto Rico in the North American Gold Cup Match.

Aston Villa have offered 4 million dollars for Anthony Petit. Since, I'm again relying on him with all of my other defenders tired, I decline the deal.

Today we play Chelsea in the second leg of the Semi Final of the English League Cup. We are tied 1-1 on aggregate. However, several of our key players are hurt or tired..

InjureD: Heller, Barbosa, and Kompany.

Injured: Adriano

Tired: A bunch of guys..

Crud. Flores twisted his knee in that match and he will be out 2-3 weeks.

Salva and Trotta need rest.

We will play Arsenal in the English League Cup Final. The match will be at Wembley on Feb 24, 2019.

Jan 25, 2019 -

Lazio has offered 25 million for Pinna. I turn down the offer.

Helder Barbosa has resumed full training.

Milan has offered 25 million for Pinna. I turn down the offer.

Arsenal has signed left winger John Hall from Aston Villa for 32 million dollars. Hall is very good, but I like Newcastle's signing a bit more.

Jan 27, 2019 -

Roma has fired Lorenzo Scarafoni. Diego Bortoluzzi is the favorite to be hired.

Today we host Chelsea in an EPL Match. This is our 3rd match in a row against them. This is our 4th match against them in our last 6. We've won 2 of those 3 matches and tied in the other 1-1.

We are even odd favorites at home.

It's raining with temperatures in the 40's.

They aren't starting Adu today. Interesting lineup. Cartier is starting at their lone striker position.

7 minute mark: Miller with a long pass to Rooney left of the box.. he shoots a powerful banana shot.. upper right corner.. Cech saves it.

38 minute mark: Ortega is tackled in the box by Woodward.. Penalty awarded! Ortega will take it.. he steps up confidently.. blasts it into the upper right corner.. GOAL!!!! 3-0. Ortega's 5th of the year.

Halftime: 3-0 lead for us.

Jan 28, 2019 -

Now that his WP has been approved, Liverpool has signed 26 year old Brazilian Midfielder, Edson from Real Madrid for 31 million dollars. Edson is a superb passer and a very good defensive midfielder as well. A nice pickup for them.

Jan 29, 2019 -

Boogaart, Ortega, and Godoy were all selected to the EPL Team of the Week.

Roma has hired Stefano Colantuono to be thier new manager. The manager had Torino in 2nd place in Serie A, and has really re-established himself as a pre-eminent manager.

Jonathan Spector has been signed away from Bolton by Wolfsburg on a Bosman signing. Wolfsburg is currently 15th in the German First Divison.

Milan has hired Elio Gustinetti to be their new manager.

Today we travel to play Charlton in an EPL Match. They are in 12th place and are playing good defense lately. Their offense is poor with only two players really scoring. Striker Jafeth Asprilla leads the team with 7 goals in 29 starts. Jafeth has become slow at the age of 34, but he still is a dangerous shooter. Playing alongside him, Japanese striker Satoshi Sato has 4 goals and 3 assists. Satoshi has very good speed, agility, and strength but is a technically below average player. Keeper Jamie Bird is playing very well the last few weeks. The 21 year old Welsh keeper is ascending in the EPL and could become a hot property very soon. Steve Gardner and Michael Spence lead a very solid defensive line.

We are heavy 2-5 favorites.

It's sunny with temperatures in the 40's.

Away on International Duty: Adriano

Today we host Sunderland in an EPL Match. They are in 17th thanks to the worst offense in the EPL. Striker Pierre Michel has more goals than everyone on the team put together. If we can stop him, we should get a clean sheet. Their #1 keeper, Andrew Collins, is hurt and they will have a hard time playing their best defense today. They will probably start Paul Clarke in goal. Paul is a 22 year old English keeper with potential, but he is still below average in skill.

We are 4-7 favorites.

Post Match Info:

Pinna has picked up a 1 match ban for 5 yellow cards.

My physio says that Salva, Miller, Cardozo, Schmidt, and Godoy all need rest.

Feb 3, 2019 -

Petit injured his calf in training today and will miss 2-3 weeks.

11 of my players have been called up for international friendlies on the 6th.

Feb 4, 2019 -

Ortega was selected to the EPL Team of the Week.

Feb 6, 2019 -

Adriano Pinna was very emotional after his first start at Left Wing for Italy in international competition. He thanked me for giving him the confidence with my regular use of him at Manchester United.

International Play (friendlies) outstanding performances:

Michael Oswald had 2 goals for Germany in their 2-0 win over Morocco.

Schreurs had 2 goals for Holland in their 2-2 tie with Turkey.

Italy lost 2-0 to Spain, but Pinna and Tamburini played well for Italy.

Salva also played for Italy, but not well.

The Italian Manager has annoyed me by not pulling Salva after 45 minutes like I asked.

Feb 7, 2019 -

Michael Wood injured his knee in training and will be out 7-10 days.

Bristol City wants to borrow my speedy youngster Mark Hall for 3 months. They have good training facilities, so I agree.

Feb 9, 2019 -

We travel to play Birmingham in an EPL Match tonight. They are in 15th place thanks to a very suspect defense that has let down a decent offense. They have 3 goals scorers with over 10 goals. However, their top goal scorer, striker Carl Rook, is out injured. Their #2 striker Jose will face plenty of attention by my defense. Striker Barry Johnson has 10 goals from his #3 striker position and he will be asked to step up tonight. Danny Taylor is by far their best midfielder. Tehir defense is a mess, as Rune Almenning Jarstein is having his worst season, but he had his best performance last game with a 10 for form. Hopefully, we can bring him back down to earth.

We are 1-2 favorites.

It's very windy with temperatures in the 30's.

Mark Hall has agreed to go to Bristol C on loan.

Feb 12, 2019 -

Vincent Kompany has spent over 5 months recovering, but he is now back in full training.

Adriano Pinna has come into my office requesting a new contract. He feels he is performing much better than his contract pays him over the past few months.

Pinna has 5 goals and 9 assists for us this year and he is only making 15,000 dollars/week which is much lower than my other stars.

He wants a new 3 year deal starting now that will pay 73k/week as well as a 1.5 million dollar signing bonus and a 3k/assist bonus. He also wants reassurances that he will continue to start. I decide to give him all of his requests.

Feb 13, 2019 -

Today we host Manchester City in a rivalry EPL Match. We are in 1st while they are in 9th. Their top striker, David Miller, is out with an injury. Their top midfielder, Paul Simpson is also out with an injury. They will be relying on the defense to keep them in this match. Libis Andres Arenas has been very good the last few weeks.

Today we play Arsenal in the English League Cup Final in the first big step to repeating the Quad. Arsenal is currently 4th in the EPL and they have been hit hard by some injuries. In fact, 7 guys on their squad are currently injured. Their top player is striker Christophe Sanchez who has 15 goals on the year. He is questionable due to a thigh injury. Keeper Warren Norman has had a phenomenal run of games in the last 2 weeks, but hopefully we can crack him. 3 of their top midfielders are out injured this game. Their #2 and #3 Striker are out injured and as a result, Hatem Ben Arfa will probably play striker this match.

The board is thrilled with my performance as manager.

Oddly, no awards were named for the month.

Here is a look at the table (we should only need 3 more wins to secure the EPL Title):

Today we travel to play Coventry. They are in 19th place. The only player we have to watch carefully is striker Wayne Worthington who has 16 goals on the year. Otherwise, most of their offensive performers have been below average. Defensively, Martin Scott and Cyril Munoz are average at best. Their keeper has been having a lot of problems too. In fact, the press has questioned if Tedeschi should be starting in goal for Coventry any longer.

We are 4-6 favorites.

It's overcast with temperatures in the 50's.

Injured: Cahais, Miller, Barbosa and Flores.

Today we play Liverpool in a big EPL Match. They are 2nd in the EPL and a win against them will effectively lower our clinch number by 2 games. They have had a good year led by a diversified offense. They have 7 players with 8 or more goals. Stephane Dalmat is having his best season ever. He is 26, and he is playing a very complete game this year. He has 17 goals, 9 assists, and 5 MoM awards. He is fast, skilled, and can shoot distance accurately. Jose Angel is a 28 year old striker who has really stepped up this year for Liverpool. He is fast, dribbles very well, shoots well, and can set up his teammates. He has 12 goals and 6 assists in 21 starts. Dutch Midfielder Bobby Hey is having one of his best seasons too. His long range shooting ability has netted him 11 goals along with 6 assists. Chris Taylor is doing well in goal, but some games he gets bombarded with shots and seems to let in a soft one now and again. However, he has been phenomenal in his last 3 matches.

We are 5-4 favorites at home.

It's overcast with temperatures in the 50's.

Today I manage Portugal in a home European Championship Qualifying Group 3 Match against Slovakia. Slovakia's only star is striker Jan Kovacik who has 1 start for Aston Villa this year, but is a decent player.

I've implemented a 4-4-2 that is similar to what I run at Manchester United, and have abandoned the 4-2-3-1 that Portugal was running before I took over.

We are 2-5 favorites.

Today we play at Middlesbrough in an EPL Match that should secure the EPL Title if we win. Middlesbrough is 12th in the EPL. Their best player by far is my former midfielder Jamie Cook. Cook has 5 goals and 12 assists for them this year. Jan Lastuvka is playing well in goal for them the last few weeks. Andrea Salerno is their leading scorer with 11 goals. Andrea is a 22 year old Italian striker who is going to be a world class striker if he continues to improve. Charlie Wilson is using his speed and strength to provide solid defense.

We are 4-5 favorites.

88 minute mark: I've never seen that before! The keeper took a free kick from deep in their zone, but he hit it low and Flores headed it towards goal. From 45 yards out, the ball bounced towards the goal and rolled into the goal before the keeper could catch up to it! What a fluky goal by Flores! 1-1.

Game over. 1-1 tie.

We outshot them 9-8 (5-3 on target in their favor)

Charlie Wilson, their defender, won MoM, 8 for form. 25 of 33 passes, 6 of 6 tackles, 9 of 11 headers, 5 interceptions, 1 foul drawn.

Kompany had an 8. Adriano (GK) had a 6. Everyone else had a 7.

Flores, 7 for form, 17 of 21 passes, 2 key passes, 0 of 2 tackles, 2 of 5 headers, 2 interceptions, 2 runs, and 1 fluky goal.

My AM Antonio Alvarez rejected his offer. He wants a higher base salary which my board doesn't want to pay

I offer him 27,500/week and 1.35 million signing bonus. Both are as high as the board will allow
