Actually, you would be surprised. They probably don't know it as well as those kids do but I really wonder whether our students are taught sign language at elementary school levels. I often times see students using it.

This show has become a guilty pleasure for me.

Hopefully, it does well and stays on the air. I read that each show costs about $3-million to produce.

Yeah exactly, I liked this little attention to detail. And their signs weren't perfect either.

Can't wait for the next season, such a great show. There were two scenes that had just crazy intense vibes coming off of it in the past few episodes:

Spoiler

I think Shue is great at making facial expressions.

edit: I was listening to part of the second volume of the Glee soundtracks, and am so disappointed that Imagine doesn't have the deaf guy's voice over-top of Mercedes. I thought that added a ton to the song.

I am so glad I discovered this show.

The funniest part to me was when the principal says "you have shamed William McKinley" and Sue says "he was a failed president"

Fun episode tonight -- I'll be looking forward to its return. In the meantime, hopefully it will show up on Netflix streaming, so I can see what I missed from the beginning since I've only watched the last 7 or 8 episodes.

Man I've really started to get into this show. It does have guilty pleasure written all over it. The Sue Character is fantastic. The insults she drops are just too much. During the first episode, I thought that she would be too over the top for me. Now I just love it.

There will be a complete season 1 DVD release too, I'm sure.

I noticed that they do not have a blu-ray release date for just the first part of the season, but I expect there will be one once the complete season is finished.

I suspect it has to do with them being uncertain whether they were going to get a full order of episodes. Fox probably had the 13 episode DVD ready before the show even launched and if it failed, then that would be it.

Former “Saturday Night Live” star Molly Shannon has joined the cast of Fox’s “Glee,” playing an astronomy teacher beginning in May. Shannon’s character will be an enemy of Jane Lynch’s cheerleading coach.

Yeah, I liked the Sweaty Balls skit they had once and Molly Shannon was part of that... but other than that, she's annoying. This could be bad.

I like Molly Shannon pretty well, except when she overdoes it (which of course she did a ton on her later SNL years, when things started to go in the shitter). Hopefully, the directors will keep her from going overboard.

Great second half season so far .

Have the GaGa episode on DVR and am interested to see it. I enjoyed the NPH episode from the week before. Also glad they gave the Jesse St. James storyline more heft than simply he really loves Rachel... but when the glee writers stray into "after school special" they tend to pull away from the edge just in time.

Glee was picked up for it's third season, pretty big accomplishment for a show that hasn't even finished it's first.

I thought there was a Glee thread, but I couldn't find it, and didn't want to start a thread just for this 'tidbit':

The director of the season finale was...THE Joss Whedon!

Never mind. I thought last week's Neil Patrick Harris episode was the season finale. Guess I'll have to find this week's episode somewhere.

I thought last week's episode (the Lady Gaga one) was really bad. Didn't like the Kiss songs, didn't really know the Gaga songs and I don't like the show tunesy songs. This one seemed a lot better to me.

1. Borrowing from Joe Posnanski's blogs about infomercial products that are designed to alleviate problems we never knew existed, I feel like the entire premise for this show is forced. First, I didn't even know such a thing as glee club existed in real life, and second, if it does (or you can relate it to other "nerdy" endeavors), I never knew such hatred existed for it, not just among students (pretty much a given) but even educators. Seems to me like a false premise to begin with, and pretty ridiculous, IMO.

2. The freaking football player with the overbearing dad who yearns to be a singer but is torn between the two competing interests in his life, one of which he hides in his shower...hm, where have I seen that played out recently? OH I KNOW! HIGH SCHOOL FREAKING MUSICAL! Pardon me, but I'm not watching a show that regurgitates the Zak Efron character and passes it off as something novel. It 2-dimensional, easily-identifiable characters like this that turned me off of scripted TV to begin with.

3. To some degree, I've got the same problem with using Don't Stop Believin' as the signature song of the show. That song has had such a resurgence of popularity in the past 5 years that it is beyond jumping the shark. First, the White Sox used it during their WS year, to the point where they brought Steve Perry out of hiding to sing it, then of course The Sopranos made it hugely popular by using it in the series finale, it was added to Rock Band, and this year, it was performed at the Super Bowl and on American Idol. And now, this. Is that anyway to showcase creativity, by running with such an obviously popular and iconic song? Completely turned me off of this show.

I've been bombarded by commercials for this show for so long that I had all of these detailed thoughts about why I would never watch a show I wasn't going to watch in the first place. I love me some advertising!

pretty much agree with these points. These soundtrack songs also sucked back when they were called Kidz Bop.

This show would NEVER have made it if not for Sue Sylvester. And that's how Sue ... C's ... it.

Um... that's kind of a silly statement. Like saying "How I Met Your Mother" would NEVER have made it if not for Barney Stinson. Of course the favorite character is important to the success of a show.

I don't think so. The show's about a Glee club of misfits and their director/coach (whatever you call it). She's a supporting character, not a main character. While not unheard of, I think it's a rare show where one supporting character props up the whole show and, IMO, keeps it watchable.

While she's not part of the Glee club, she is the main antagonist. She is not some side character.

Exactly, and Lynch was the one of the highest billed actors on the show prior to its start.

I mean look at any promotional posters for Glee. Jane Lynch is all over them.
