Been $1.65 for about a month at the QT by work. I went there to get a free drink from their app and to get gas. I forgot to get gas.

I just saw $1.49 as well.

Woot. Less than $20 to fill up.

My wife said she heard gas would drop to $1.00. I dont think I believe that. But wouldnt that be mind blowing.

This whole cheap oil/gas thing is so ridiculous. Yeah, I get it, there's an over supply at the moment with full tankers floating around etc. But it's not like there is any more oil in the ground than there was 3 years ago, and it's not like demand has dropped (or will presumably drop) so significantly that we still aren't headed towards a crisis point in the not-so-distant future.

All these cheap prices do is dissuade increased investment towards alternative fuels. Ultimately I think this is setting our society and possibly economy back several years, and perhaps worsening the impact of the eventual 'oh shit the oil is almost all gone' moment.

TBH I'm okay paying more for gas to support our alternate gas/energy initiatives ... even if this includes helping our fracking industry. I want us to be independent of the ME.

Oil crashes to $30 a barrel - Jan. 12, 2016
Quote:
Oil plummeted below $30 a barrel on Tuesday for the first time since December 2003. The latest wave of selling leaves crude oil down 19% this year alone. It represents an incredible 72% plunge from crude oil's June 2014 peak of almost $108.

"The fundamental situation for oil markets is much worse than previously thought," Barclays commodities analysts wrote in a client note.
Crude oil declined 3% on the day to settle at $30.44 a barrel, marking its seventh day in a row of losses.

Gas dropped from 1.99 out here to 1.76 over the last couple days. Nuts.

Although, y'know, a lot of the glut/cheapness is Saudi Arabia going "we can take this pain longer than you can, shale oil peeps." They're trying to force US suppliers out of the market before they cut back on production, since it would take those suppliers like 18 months to restart the wells.

It's a fascinating game of chicken that's probably going to cause pain down the road but in the short term my wallet appreciates it.

This is apparently a local price war, but verified at 78 cents.

In the background, you can see the Michigan state flower - the "For Sale" sign.

That is really funny, I hadn't heard that one before. I'll have to add it to the North Dakota state tree - a telephone pole south of Fargo.

Starting to see sub-$2 in Maine.

I can't believe I'd ever see the day where the gallon dial is spinning faster than the dollar dial in some parts of the country.

If the Middle East actually had a middle class, they would be totally screwed by this. But since its basically all elites and a horde of peasants, it should affect them too much.

Oil prices crashed another 7% on Wednesday and broke below $27 a barrel for the first time since September 2003. It's currently trading at $26.30 a barrel, down an incredible 29% since the beginning of the year.

$1.46 at the Airport Shell in Green Bay, but I filled up for $1.55 because I'm dumb and got on 41 N instead of taking the back roads home.

41 is faster and my toe hurt. I just wanted to get home and soak it in the tub as soon as I could, but I knew I needed gas. And as soon as I rolled down Oneida and saw the $1.55 I knew I'd made a mistake.

Not a catastrophic one, mind, but at these prices, that's almost a whole extra gallon of gas!

$1.99 in San Jose, which is unreal. Gas hasn't been this cheap here since about 2003.

Why is premium so expensive? The gap is roughly 60-70 cents now.
