Historical League Entering Its 17th Season

We are the Alternate Universe Football League (AUFL). The AUFL imagines a world in which the NFL expanded in 1983, adding four USFL clubs to get to 32. The league just started its 17th season -- 1999 -- and is in Staff Hiring. The league sims 3 games a week (MWF) during the regular season.

Dolphins 1998 record: 13-3. If you want to win now, the Dolphins are your team. 1999 top draft pick: 1.29. We have an owner for the Dolphins.

Patriots 10-6. Another strong playoff team. 1999 top draft pick: 1.24. We have an owner for the Patriots.

Bills 7-9. Strong offensive talent led by QB Jeff Garcia. 1999 top draft pick: 1.14. We have an owner for the Bills.

Bengals 7-9. A stout defense led by DE Chester McGlockton. 1999 top draft pick: 1.18.

Saints 7-9. Offensive talent like QB Elvis Grbac, RB Eddie George, and WR Hines Ward. 1999 top draft pick: 1. 15. We have an owner for the Saints.

Raiders 5-11. A struggling team but the best 1999 draft pick at 1.05. We have an owner for the Raiders.



The AUFL has a mix of veteran owners and new players, so all are welcome. Dawgfan19 (49ers) and The Duke (Jets) just faced off in the 1998 Super Bowl. J David Baker (Broncos) is in the league, and the AUFL uses his database. The world-renowned Firefly (Showboats) is a founding member, and draft guru wesley3044 (aka Bighouserulez) is the Packers owner.

This was the first league I joined after only a few weeks owning FOF. I've been the GM of the Arizona Wranglers for 2 years now. It's been a great challenge trying to turn the team around, drop some ageing talent, and compete in one of the tougher divisions.
If you want a similar challenge I would highly recommend the Saints. The division has been dominated by the Showboats and Falcons for so long. Both have recently won the Superbowl. Atlanta has gotten younger last year so dropped off the pace a little but this would be a great division to join.

As Rip said the Dolphins are exceptionally talented. The Bengals and Patriots reached the playoffs. The Bills are 1 year removed from a Superbowl loss so are also very good.
The Raiders have a lot of cap space so you can totally transform the team whichever way you want to play.

All the teams are really good and could do with some TLC. Plus its a great, friendly league

Hey Rip I have a guy who is brand new, buying FOF tonight or tomorrow, He wants the Raiders. ( very trustworthy guy he will take them. )

and another guy I work with has the bug for the game, likely will take the Bills. I need to show him the available teams tomorrow.

The Saints are taken and we have a possible owner for the Raiders. That leaves the Bills and the Bengals.

The AUFL is in late free agency, so there's still time to grab the Bills or the Bengals for the 1999 season.

Two prospects the Bills just drafted are DE Jevon Kearse 37/55 and S Jason Perry 19/60. The Bengals picked up DE Tom Beauchamp 29/56 and T Jon Jansen 33/47 in the just-completed draft.
