You lose cap from cutting or trading players, just the portion under bonus for future years, all future bonus money counts against the next year. If you cut a player who has $3mm in bonus for the next 4 years, then you would lose the $3mm for the current cap plus $9mm against next year's cap.

Right thanks, is the loss of cap proportional so in that example: Yr 1 I would lose $3m, Yr 2 $3m plus an extra $3, total $6m, Yr 3 $3 plus an extra $6m, total $9m etc
Thanks |

Ignore that message, I understand/mis interpreted your reply sorry! So all cap space is made up after 2 yrs? If a player had 3 years with $2m in bonus, then i would lose $2m yr 1 and $4m yr 2??? Is it therefore only bonuses that count towards the cap or do salarys count but not count for lost space?

An overarching way of looking at it is this:
1. When you pay a player a bonus, that money is his, and his forever. Sign a player to a contract with a $10M bonus, and he gets that $10M immediately and you're responsible for it on the cap. If it's a 5-year deal and you keep him all five years, it's $2M per year. Cut him early and you're hit with the rest of it. 2. No *salary* in contracts in FOF is guaranteed. Cut a guy with 3 years left on his deal and none of the salary hurts you--just the bonus.

That makes it simpler, thank you both so much for your help. Being from England and a rugby league fan (where only the salary counts and the whole system is completely different) it can get quite confusing! Thanks again

There are better leagues than the OSFL. Used to be one of the best until Aston left but it's going down hill fast

I took over now, we started with a new live staff draft and got 2 new managers. OSFL isn't dying anytime soon. Feel free to comeback if you want Last edited by Sharkn20 : 05-11-2017 at 07:49 PM. |
