CL Presents Batter of Month Trophy to Jones
Monday, May 1st, 2084: Though his face is weathered and his hands are calloused, Reed Jones can still get it done in FOOL-X. In fact, the 34-year-old left fielder for Havana was named the Continental League Batter of the Month today after putting up an impressive performance at the plate.

In April he batted .382 with 8 home runs, 16 RBIs and 20 runs scored.


Portland's Pilon Winner, RL Best Hitter in April
Monday, May 1st, 2084: In the last year of his deal with Portland, Matias Pilon has created some waves by winning April's Republic League Batter of the Month title today.

He put up a solid .448 batting average with 1 home run, 16 RBIs and 22 runs scored. He also worked RL pitchers for 20 walks and a .542 on-base percentage.

If he keeps churning out numbers like these, the 36-year-old is sure to draw some attention, when contract time rolls around.

Hubbard Earns April's Best Pitcher Honor
Monday, May 1st, 2084: Ray Hubbard's been around the league long enough to appreciate the honor he received today. After going 4-0 in April, the 34-year-old Washington hurler has been named Continental League Pitcher of the Month.

He fanned 34 in 34.1 innings, logged an ERA of 1.83 and allowed opponents to hit .186 against him.


April's #1 Hurler Announced: Reed Wins Award
Monday, May 1st, 2084: Carl Reed has been around the league long enough to know that relievers are often overlooked. That has never stopped him from doing what he does best -- and he did it extremely well in April and stole away with the Republic League Pitcher of the Month award.

The Beach Boys bullpen ace collected 7 saves and 12 strikeouts in 16.1 innings, holding the opposition to a .135 average and posting a 0.00 ERA and a 2-1 record.

Monday, May 1st, 2084: Juan Pérez earned Rookie of the Month honors in the Continental League for his exemplary performance in April.

The St Louis second baseman racked up 24 hits, clubbed 1 home run, drove in 6 runs and tacked on 14 runs scored for good measure.


Republic League Names Rookie of Month
Monday, May 1st, 2084: Enrico Escobedo earned April's Rookie of the Month honors in the Republic League for last month's performance. The boyish Cleveland first baseman might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level.

Escobedo hit .312 with 3 home runs, 19 RBIs and 12 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award.

London's Okada Top CL Batter in May
Thursday, June 1st, 2084: Seasoned by several years of professional experience, 31-year-old Motonobu Okada put together a solid offensive month for London and was crowned May's top batter in the Continental League.

He batted .280 with 9 home runs, 25 RBIs and 22 runs scored.



A look at his current stats shows Okada with a .283 average, 15 home runs, 41 RBIs and 38 runs scored. He has played in 54 games.


RL's Top Hitter Announced
Thursday, June 1st, 2084: Dana Barrett is on a tear! After posting a .417 average in May, the Spring designated hitter took home the Republic League Batter of the Month award handed out earlier today.

He cracked 50 hits with 3 home runs and 27 RBIs and scored 20 runs. The 27-year-old also collected 11 free passes and posted a .466 on-base percentage.

So far this season, Barrett has recorded a .361 batting average with 79 hits, 6 home runs, 38 RBIs, 32 runs scored and a .412 OBP.

Rodríguez Top CL Pitcher in May
Thursday, June 1st, 2084: It was a very good month for Sergio Rodríguez in May. The 35-year-old veteran starter for the Stafford Terriers outpitched everybody -- young and old -- to claim the Continental League Pitcher of the Month award earlier today.

Rodríguez ran up a 4-0 record in his 6 starts during the month. In 45.2 innings he fanned 44 and recorded a 1.38 ERA.

In 11 starts this season Rodríguez has rung up a 6-1 record and a 1.71 ERA.


Spring Starter Named RL's Best Pitcher
Thursday, June 1st, 2084: Veteran Gonzalo Rodríguez put together quite a successful stretch in May for the Spring Lions, earning himself the Republic League Pitcher of the Month award.

Rodríguez racked up a 5-0 record in 6 starts, posting a 2.72 ERA over 39.2 innings and striking out 15.

In 11 starts this year Rodríguez has recorded a 6-2 record and a 4.48 ERA.

CL Spotlight Shines on Rookie Star
Thursday, June 1st, 2084: In May, Denny Robinson had an exceptional month at the plate and hit his way to the Continental League Rookie of the Month award.

Last month the 29-year-old St Louis shortstop played in 28 games and hit .265 with 2 doubles, 2 triples and 7 home runs. Robinson also scored 13 times and drove in 23 runs.

This year Robinson is batting .242 with 11 home runs and 36 RBIs. In 53 games he has scored 23 times.


RL Selects Rookie Star of the Month
Thursday, June 1st, 2084: Ryan Hopper was toddling around on his tricycle when some of the guys he's playing against were in their prime, but the 23-year-old first baseman definitely knows how to get to first, second or beyond. Today he was chosen May's Republic League Rookie of the Month for his remarkable month of hitting.

In 25 games Hopper batted .295 for Spring, slapping 28 hits in 95 at-bats with 9 home runs, drove in 22 runs and scored 10 times.

Hopper is currently hitting at a .257 pace with 12 home runs and 29 RBIs.

Jones Earns June's Top Batter Prize in CL
Saturday, July 1st, 2084: When guys like Havana's Reed Jones win Batter of the Month awards, it just makes you feel good. In a productive June, the longtime Continental League veteran toyed with opposing pitchers all month long, collecting 33 hits in 98 at-bats.

The veteran left fielder hit for a .337 batting average and collected 7 home runs, 17 RBIs and 20 runs scored.

Jones is currently batting .327 with 16 home runs, 46 RBIs and 51 runs scored. He has 92 hits in 281 at-bats.

Saturday, July 1st, 2084: Despite the number of years he's been in the league, Dusty Young still gets excited when he puts together a quality stretch like he had in June. The 32-year-old starter for Washington was named Continental League Pitcher of the Month earlier today.

He collected 4 wins and no losses with 28 strikeouts in his 5 starts, putting up a fine 0.59 ERA in 30.1 innings of work.

This year Young has worked 91 innings with 79 strikeouts en route to a 9-3 record and 2.67 ERA.


Zein Best RL Starter in June
Saturday, July 1st, 2084: Amlak Zein hasn't been around the big leagues long enough to know that youngsters shouldn't be winning Republic League Pitcher of the Month. But when you put up numbers like his, you're going to get some notice.

Saturday, July 1st, 2084: During the month Juan Pérez socked and slapped the baseball all over Continental League ballparks to pull in a majority of the votes for the Rookie of the Month award.

In June the second baseman for St Louis collected 23 hits, 2 home runs, 11 RBIs and 9 runs scored. He batted .250 with a .327 OBP.

Tuesday, August 1st, 2084: Félix Gonzáles walked away with the Continental League Batter of the Month award for his solid work with the stick in July.

The Plantana left fielder hit .346 with 8 home runs, 24 RBIs and 25 runs scored.

This year Gonzáles is hitting .268 with 20 home runs.


Jaime Rodríguez Winner in July
Tuesday, August 1st, 2084: There's nothing like putting up good, solid numbers in the last year of your contract. Today Jaime Rodríguez helped his contract negotiations by nabbing July's Republic League Batter of the Month honors.

Tuesday, August 1st, 2084: Tak-wai Qu will be bringing July's Continental League Pitcher of the Month trophy home to Stafford. He excelled all month long as he kept opposing hitters guessing, reaching and hoping.

Qu started 5 games, going 4-0 with 20 strikeouts in 32.1 innings as he compiled his 2.51 ERA.

This season Qu has compiled a 7-2 mark with a 3.46 ERA.


Beach Boys Reed July's #1 Pitcher
Tuesday, August 1st, 2084: High pressure game situations don't seem to affect Carl Reed, the bullpen ace of the Waikiki Beach Boys. He regularly is put to the test and he regularly makes quick work of the opposition. In July, he was honored for his outstanding relief work. The Republic League presented the Pitcher of the Month trophy to him.

The Beach Boys reliever had 2 saves, pitched 16 innings, struck out 15 and walked 3 en route to a 4-1 mark and a 2.25 ERA.

Up to this point in the season, Reed has fashioned a 10-7 won-lost mark, made 52 relief appearances and rung up 15 saves. He has a 1.97 ERA and has allowed 52 hits over his 64 innings of work, struck out 67 batters and walked 10.

Tuesday, August 1st, 2084: 22-year-old Tak-wai Qu is deceptively poised for such a young man. In 5 starts he bagged 4 wins in July and took home the Continental League Rookie of the Month Award.

The Stafford hurler logged a 4-0 record, 20 strikeouts in 32.1 innings, held opponents to a .220 average and compiled an ERA of 2.51.

This season Qu has gone 7-2 with an ERA of 3.46, posting 85 strikeouts in 112 innings.

Tuesday, August 1st, 2084: Hui-ying She's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young Portland right fielder has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month.

In July he was voted the Rookie of the Month Award.

During the month he hit .337 with 8 doubles, no triples and 5 home runs. She also scored 12 times and drove in 26 runs.

Currently She is hitting .284 and has collected 22 home runs, 75 RBIs and scored 59 times, while playing in 105 games.

Friday, September 1st, 2084: Vincent Bungay of the Stafford Terriers recorded a .385 batting average in August. His hitting spree racked up the Continental League Batter of the Month award for his trophy case.

The Stafford second baseman battered opposing pitchers all month, accumulating 1 home run, 18 RBIs and scoring 23 runs.

Ann Arbor's left fielder put together a solid month with a .441 batting average, 10 home runs, 32 RBIs and 22 runs scored.

For the year Desbiens has hit .334 with 30 home runs, 115 RBIs and scored 94 runs.

Rodríguez Top CL Starter in August
Friday, September 1st, 2084: Sergio Rodríguez took home the Continental League Pitcher of the Month honors in August. After all these years playing ball, the 36-year-old veteran still enjoys the game as though he'd just broken camp for the first time a month ago. He's a bit older now with a few more aches and pains, but the old man has reason to celebrate, having gone 4-0 for Stafford last month and claiming the Pitcher of the Month award.

He tacked up a 1.52 ERA in his 6 starts, tossing 41.1 innings and striking out 30.

In 27 starts this season Rodríguez has chalked up a 13-2 record and a 2.10 ERA.


August's Top Starter is Chapman
Friday, September 1st, 2084: Nelson Chapman nailed down August's Republic League Pitcher of the Month award today, adding pressure on Waikiki to get a deal done before the 34-year-old becomes a free agent.

Chapman seems unfazed by the talk. "We get a deal done or we don't," he told reporters, "I'm not worrying about next year. Worrying about next year isn't what wins awards, you know?"

He fashioned a 5-0 record, reeled off 14 strikeouts, worked 33.2 innings and held batters to a .272 average for the month as he posted a 2.14 ERA.

His record this season is 12-8 in 27 starts and Chapman has a 3.73 ERA.

CL Names London's León Top Rookie
Friday, September 1st, 2084: Youngster Vicente León emerged as the latest Continental League Rookie of the Month today. The young man from London deserved the honor, batting .380 with 2 home runs and 8 runs batted in. Is the month of August a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let León enjoy the limelight.

Thus far in 2084 León is hitting .279 with 6 home runs, 46 RBIs, 43 runs scored and has compiled a .347 OBP.


First Baseman Nabs RL Rookie Award
Friday, September 1st, 2084: Raúl Manuel is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest Republic League Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers.

In August the Portland hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .252 average with 26 hits, 4 home runs and 21 RBIs.

So far this season Manuel is batting .236 with 16 home runs, 57 RBIs and 72 runs scored. He has 112 hits in 475 at-bats, 24 walks and a .275 OBP. Manuel has played in 110 games.

OK guys I have a huge problem. When I lost that game it makes me tied with Stafford so I'm not sure how to get around it. Luckily I saved the game before the 1 game playoff. So have to figure this out.
