CL Benny Myers Rookie of the Year Award Handed Out
Tuesday, November 18th, 2149: Reginald Oprel's age didn't show very often in his first year. He performed more like a veteran on the hill for the Noblesville Millers and today he walked away with the 2149 Continental League Benny Myers Rookie of the Year Award.

The 22-year-old starter registered a 13-4 record this season in 26 starts. Over 166.1 innings he gave up 146 hits, struck out 149 and issued 58 walks as he held the opposition to a .233 batting average and fashioned a 3.14 ERA.

Nelson Is RL's Best Rookie
Tuesday, November 18th, 2149: Larry Nelson put together some impressive numbers for Hartford to garner enough votes for the Republic League Benny Myers Rookie of the Year Award.

The Harpooners shortstop took the honor by hitting .301 in 161 games this season and finishing with 202 hits, 5 home runs, 75 RBIs and 105 runs scored.

CL Presents Outstanding Pitcher Award
Thursday, November 20th, 2149: The Gabriel Prado Award for 2149 has been presented and the Continental League winner is Maurice LaRose of Noblesville.

"It's always nice to receive an award like this," said LaRose. "I just hope I can improve on my performance next year and be in the running again," the Millers star told reporters.

LaRose excelled with an impressive 22-5 record in 32 starts. In 222 innings he yielded 182 hits and 45 walks, while striking out 196 and compiling a fine 2.51 ERA.

Gibson Takes Home RL Gabriel Prado Award
Thursday, November 20th, 2149: What does it take to win the Gabriel Prado Award?

Just ask Ben Gibson of the Ann Arbor Winged Lingerines -- the latest Republic League Gabriel Prado Award winner.

"My dad always told me to dream big and dream always," he said. "It's not like I shoot for the Gabriel Prado Award," he said. "I have big aspirations for what I want to do in this game and what I want to achieve in a long career."

The Winged Lingerines pitching ace made some of his dreams come true this year, winning 21 games and losing only 5. In 32 starts, Gibson registered a 3.05 ERA and limited other clubs to a .261 batting average. He fanned 127 in 218.1 innings and issued 48 walks.

Super Season, Blakeney Wins Hideaki Tanaka Award
Friday, November 21st, 2149: What a way to finish off the year -- being honored with the 2149 Hideaki Tanaka Award in the Republic League. It had already been a very special season for Ann Arbor's Larry Blakeney, but today's announcement really put the icing on his cake.

All season long Larry Blakeney gave opposing pitchers fits by hitting .340 as he collected 219 hits, 52 doubles, 1 triple, 36 home runs and 123 RBIs.

Yeah Eddie there's something wrong with the world when something like that happens.

But you'll be back for awhile for sure. It's your time to shine.

I got Tidwell back. Full circle, I guess. My pitching is still a LONG way from being competitive, though. There just wasn't much help available in this free agent class. I didn't want to overspend on Haney or on Rodriguez.

Meaning bought a pitcher with a big contract this last FA, but relooking at it, I see it's an extension...and a 4 year one at that. Hmmm only 4 mill a year. I thought it was more than that.

I just like seeing people spend money.

Everyone has exported outside of the 2 teams that are in vacation mode. So I'm going to get started early today. The wife has me on a time frame today. She "has" to rearrange the house today. For my troubles she is going to clean my desk. My desk "needs" to be cleaned. Quick someone tell her job that she needs to not be laid off anymore.

I hate that OOTP gives away my compensation picks for my own signings. In MLB, I believe, the only picks a team can have taken away for compensation are their own, original picks. I know we're not MLB, but we have always tried to model ourselves in that manner, and I know this happens not because of a design decision on the part of the OOTP team, but a lack of realization of how their free agent comp module is doing its job.

I agree Chief. It needs to be customizable for each league.

If someone signs a FA of yours and you get a 1st round pick from them you will lose that acquired pick if you sign a type A.

Chief signed one of my players so he had to give one of his 1st round pick to me. The pick I received was the 1st round pick he got from someone else because they signed one of his type A FA.

Yup! And it wasn't even a very good Type A either. Why would Jose Gonzalez cost a first rounder, lol. Oh well... I really needed the pitching.

No, you're okay. You can resign your own players. It won't cost you a pick.

Haha it might have been. I signed several players this past sim. I signed multiple Type As.

Hernandez I don't mind so much. He's a solid addition to the lineup.

I'm almost certain it was Hernandez that was the type A. FTR I was hoping to resign him over getting the pick. I just tried to get him at a lower contract and it back-fired this time.

It's sounding like you are saying you lost a pick for resigning your own player.

Which is why I asked this.

Yeah I know this part.

Ohhhhhhhh. I get it. I always assumed it did this just to balance out the equation. Makes since really. Otherwise it would probably run out of rounds. having to dig down into 4th and 5th and beyond (which doesn't exist.)
If you don't want to lose picks, simple. Don't sign anyone that gets you picks or else release enough good A's that you'll get more picks to compensate.

Man, for the first time I actually had to make a decision to cut someone because I ended up over the cap with my trade.

Granted, it was just my #6 RP, but still
