CL Announces Outstanding Batter Award
Friday, May 1st, 2082: There's nothing like putting up good, solid numbers in the last year of your contract. Today José Rivera helped his contract negotiations by nabbing April's Continental League Batter of the Month honors.

The St Louis first baseman put together a .364 batting average with 8 home runs, 25 RBIs and 22 runs scored.

Someone will surely be opening up the vault this offseason if Rivera continues at this brisk pace.


RL Choice for Batter of the Month is Desbiens
Friday, May 1st, 2082: When Carl Desbiens stepped up to the plate in April, he did it with confidence and today he was honored with the Republic League Batter of the Month award.

The young Las Vegas left fielder posted a .356 batting average with 4 home runs, 16 RBIs and scored 18 runs. Desbiens also worked pitchers for 10 walks to post a .423 on-base percentage.

Freedom Hurler Named CL's #1 Starter
Friday, May 1st, 2082: Veteran Dusty Young put together quite a successful stretch in April for the Washington Freedom, earning himself the Continental League Pitcher of the Month award.

Young racked up a 3-1 record in 4 starts, posting a 0.70 ERA over 25.2 innings and striking out 25.


Republic League Names #1 Pitcher in April
Friday, May 1st, 2082: Troy Bailey is at the zenith of his career and today he was selected as the Republic League Pitcher of the Month for April.

He made 13 relief appearances for New York last month, throwing 13.2 innings and collecting no saves, a 5-0 record, 15 strikeouts and a 2.63 ERA.

Continental League Names Rookie of Month
Friday, May 1st, 2082: Mac Gaston was toddling around on his tricycle when some of the guys he's playing against were in their prime, but the 22-year-old first baseman definitely knows how to get to first, second or beyond. Today he was chosen April's Continental League Rookie of the Month for his remarkable month of hitting.

In 24 games Gaston batted .333 for London, slapping 29 hits in 87 at-bats with 2 home runs, drove in 7 runs and scored 12 times.


RL Selects Rookie Star of the Month
Friday, May 1st, 2082: Juan Moreno's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young Waikiki third baseman has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month.

In April he was voted the Rookie of the Month Award.

During the month he hit .351 with 5 doubles, 1 triple and 4 home runs. Moreno also scored 14 times and drove in 18 runs.

May's #1 Batter Announced
Monday, June 1st, 2082: Seasoned by several years of professional experience, 29-year-old Bobby McCormick put together a solid offensive month for London and was crowned May's top batter in the Continental League.

He batted .368 with 9 home runs, 27 RBIs and 24 runs scored.



Posting a .346 batting average to date, McCormick has 14 home runs and 58 RBIs.


Red-Hot May Lands De La Cruz Batting Prize in RL
Monday, June 1st, 2082: Juan De La Cruz battered Republic League pitchers all May and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award.

"I've been around FOOL-X long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 29-year-old De La Cruz told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."

In 27 games, De La Cruz hit .324 with 7 home runs, 21 RBIs and scored 18 runs.

This season De La Cruz is batting .309 with 31 RBIs, 30 runs scored and 11 home runs.

CL Selects Ávila May's Top Starter
Monday, June 1st, 2082: Augusto Ávila nailed down May's Continental League Pitcher of the Month award today, adding pressure on London to get a deal done before the 29-year-old becomes a free agent.

Ávila seems unfazed by the talk. "We get a deal done or we don't," he told reporters, "I'm not worrying about next year. Worrying about next year isn't what wins awards, you know?"

He fashioned a 4-0 record, reeled off 28 strikeouts, worked 41 innings and held batters to a .208 average for the month as he posted a 0.88 ERA.

This season Ávila has a 5-3 record with a 2.19 ERA in 11 starts.


May's Best Hurler in RL is Webb
Monday, June 1st, 2082: Wayne Webb's been around the league long enough to appreciate the honor he received today. After going 4-0 in May, the 29-year-old Spring hurler has been named Republic League Pitcher of the Month.

He fanned 30 in 36.1 innings, logged an ERA of 1.73 and allowed opponents to hit .216 against him.

To date this year, Webb shows a 4-4 record, 10 starts, 60.1 innings, 52 strikeouts and a 4.33 ERA.

May's Top Rookie Named by CL
Monday, June 1st, 2082: In May José Sosa of St Louis was the cream of the crop among first-year players. The Continental League has named this talented hurler the Rookie of the Month for his remarkable performance.

He recorded 5 wins and no losses in 6 starts. Tossing 34 innings he fanned 28 and walked 9 as he compiled a solid 2.12 ERA.

This year Sosa has compiled a 7-0 record with a 1.88 ERA.


Top Republic League Newcomer Named
Monday, June 1st, 2082: Youngster Juan Moreno emerged as the latest Republic League Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Waikiki deserved the honor, batting .270 with 5 home runs and 20 runs batted in. Is the month of May a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Moreno enjoy the limelight.

In 2082 Moreno has hit at a .306 clip with 66 hits, 9 home runs, 38 RBIs and has scored 28 times.

CL Honors McCormick, Best Hitter in June
Wednesday, July 1st, 2082: Hot-hitting left fielder Bobby McCormick of the Bishops really pounded Continental League pitchers in June, winning the Batter of the Month award.

He hit .385 with 3 home runs, 21 RBIs, 28 runs scored and 7 walks to finish with a .405 on-base percentage.

This year McCormick has socked 115 hits in 320 at-bats for a .359 average with 17 home runs. He is getting on base at a .405 pace and his totals also include 79 RBIs and 68 runs scored.


Rodríguez Claims RL Batter of the Month Award
Wednesday, July 1st, 2082: Ann Arbor's Jaime Rodríguez wowed sportswriters in June with an award-winning performance. For his standout play he was voted the Republic League Batter of the Month.

He rang up a .444 batting average with 3 home runs, 25 RBIs and 25 runs scored. He also had 11 walks and a .496 on-base percentage.

In the 2082 season Rodríguez is hitting .368 with 5 home runs.

June's Best CL Hurler is Weareorwear
Wednesday, July 1st, 2082: Harry Weareorwear has made fans throughout FOOL-X take notice over the past month with an exceptional 4-1 record. No pitcher in the Continental League threw better in June, garnering him the Pitcher of the Month award today.

In 6 starts Weareorwear compiled a 1.90 ERA, putting up a 4-1 record, striking out 26 and tossing 42.2 innings.

Weareorwear has started 16 times this year, pitched 106 innings, fanned 57 batters and walked 25. His current record is 6 wins and 6 losses with a 3.91 ERA.


Webb Earns June's Best Pitcher Honor
Wednesday, July 1st, 2082: Spring starter Wayne Webb really put the chill on opposing teams in June and today was acclaimed the Republic League Pitcher of the Month.

He excelled with a 4-1 mark and 1.36 ERA in 6 starts. In 39.2 innings, he fanned 34 and walked 16.

Webb has gone 8-5 this season with an ERA of 3.15 and 86 strikeouts in 100 innings pitched. Other clubs are hitting .267 against him.

Bungay Selected CL's #1 Newcomer
Wednesday, July 1st, 2082: Vincent Bungay is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest Continental League Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers.

In June the Stafford hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .280 average with 28 hits, 1 home run and 9 RBIs.

Presently Bungay is batting .240 with 1 home run and 27 RBIs. He has played in 79 games and scored 32 times.


Flores Receives June Rookie Award
Wednesday, July 1st, 2082: Raúl Flores earned June's Rookie of the Month honors in the Republic League for last month's performance. The boyish Maricopa left fielder might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level.

Flores hit .297 with no home runs, 13 RBIs and 15 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award.

This season Flores is swinging the bat at a .304 rate with 88 hits in 289 at-bats. To date he has hit 3 home runs, scored 40 runs and driven in 33.

Okada Grabs CL Best Batter Award for July
Saturday, August 1st, 2082: Motonobu Okada relied on a .336 average to become the Continental League Batter of the Month. He had a good July, going 36 for 107.

He finished with 8 home runs and 24 RBIs, scored 19 runs, and had a .383 on-base percentage.

This season Okada is batting .277 with 119 hits and 16 home runs. He has scored 61 times and has 77 RBI.


Perkins Top Hitter in RL in July

He also rang up 3 home runs, 22 RBIs and 20 runs scored.

If Perkins keeps up this pace, he'll cost someone a lot of money.

So far this season, Perkins has recorded a .325 batting average with 130 hits, 8 home runs, 60 RBIs, 62 runs scored and a .409 OBP.

July's Premier Pitcher Announced By CL
Saturday, August 1st, 2082: As Ernesto Maldonado hoisted up the Continental League Pitcher of the Month trophy for July, rumors have already begun to swirl about whether he will leave Oshawa once his contract is up at the end of the season.

Maldonado put pressure on the Mullets to keep him around by posting a 4-0 record and an ERA of 3.07 over 41 innings last month. He also rolled up 30 strikeouts, increasing his value both to Oshawa and to every other team in the league.

In 21 starts this season, Maldonado has recorded 9 wins and absorbed 8 losses. He has pitched 131 innings, allowed 118 hits, struck out 118 and has a 4.40 ERA.


Rattlers Starter Wins RL Pitching Award
Saturday, August 1st, 2082: The Republic League announced the winner of the Pitcher of the Month Award for July.

It went to Miguel Angel Bojórquez of Maricopa for his outstanding 4-1 record and 2.82 ERA.

Bojórquez also chalked up 5 starts, 38.1 innings and 24 strikeouts.



Looking at his season stats, Bojórquez has won 13 and lost 5, collecting 95 strikeouts and 28 walks in 142.2 innings with a 3.34 ERA.

First Baseman Nabs CL Rookie Award
Saturday, August 1st, 2082: A veritable toddler to the Continental League, Mac Gaston just sewed up the Rookie of the Month trophy for July.

Over the past month the 22-year-old first baseman for London hit .289 with 28 hits, no home runs and 12 RBI. He also logged 5 walks and compiled a .330 on-base percentage.

So far this year in 104 games Gaston is hitting .260 with 2 home runs, 34 RBIs and 40 runs scored.

Saturday, August 1st, 2082: Raúl Flores of the Maricopa Rattlers has been honored as the top Rookie in the Republic League.

Havana's Kono Top CL Batter in August
Tuesday, September 1st, 2082: One of the more consistent batters in August, Havana catcher Shinsui Kono grabbed Continental League Batter of the Month honors by hitting .378 with 42 hits in 111 at-bats.

He racked up 9 home runs and 28 RBIs, scored 21 runs.

Kono is hitting .279 so far this season with 79 RBIs and 70 runs scored. He has 140 hits including 22 home runs, 58 walks and .354 OBP.


De La Cruz Crowned Top RL Hitter in August
Tuesday, September 1st, 2082: Today Juan De La Cruz was voted Republic League Batter of the Month for September. During the month the 29-year-old Cleveland catcher compiled a .400 batting average.

Most importantly for the Naps though, he also posted 11 home runs, 29 RBIs and 23 runs scored.

Tuesday, September 1st, 2082: Charlie Clements of Washington had an outstanding August with a 5-1 mark and was chosen the Pitcher of the Month in the Continental League.

He topped off the month with a 1.82 ERA in 6 starts, tossed 34.2 innings, fanned 28 and held opposing teams to a .267 average.

Salamanca Wins CL's Best Bat Award
Thursday, October 1st, 2082: Though his face is weathered and his hands are calloused, Claudio Salamanca can still get it done in FOOL-X. In fact, the 29-year-old shortstop for St Louis was named the Continental League Batter of the Month today after putting up an impressive performance at the plate.

In September he batted .333 with 5 home runs, 20 RBIs and 24 runs scored.

Looking at his present stats, Salamanca has compiled a .285 batting average in 158 games with a .402 on-base percentage, while hitting 31 home runs and driving in 109 runs.


Latour Named RL Batter of the Month
Thursday, October 1st, 2082: Harry Latour got another reason to celebrate today as he followed up a great month of September at the plate by winning the Republic League Batter of the Month Award.

During the month, the Spring center fielder hit .368 with 10 home runs, 23 RBIs and 21 runs scored.

Martínez Takes CL #1 Pitcher Trophy
Thursday, October 1st, 2082: Edgardo Martínez has been around the league long enough to know that relievers are often overlooked. That has never stopped him from doing what he does best -- and he did it extremely well in September and stole away with the Continental League Pitcher of the Month award.

The Freedom bullpen ace collected 10 saves and 16 strikeouts in 16.2 innings, holding the opposition to a .155 average and posting a 0.54 ERA and a 2-1 record.

Martínez has made 69 games so far this year with 38 saves. In 77.1 innings he has dished out 93 strikeouts and walked 6 with a 4-3 mark and a 0.70 ERA.


Valdéz Voted Best RL Pitcher in September
Thursday, October 1st, 2082: The best pitcher in the Republic League this month was Las Vegas Wildcats reliever Alberto Valdéz. He won the league's Top Pitcher Award for September by saving 10 games in 10 save opportunities.

Over the period Valdéz also had 2 wins and no losses. The Wildcats bullpen ace had 23 strikeouts and no walks in 14.2 innings, surrendered 8 base hits and registered a 0.61 ERA.

This season Valdéz has rung up 31 saves. He is carrying a 6-8 record with a 2.69 ERA in 93.2 innings pitched.

But he was, telling BNN reporters, "I just put the bat on the ball a lot and a lot of them fell in. It was just my month to shine."
