Lozano April's Best Bat Choice
Saturday, May 1st, 2088: Ramón Lozano has a lot going for him. The Washington first baseman just broke into the majors this year and now the Continental League has just picked him as its top hitter for April.

In 20 games last month, this outstanding rookie batted .378 with 4 home runs, 24 RBIs and 13 runs scored.


She Wins Best Bat Trophy in April
Saturday, May 1st, 2088: Hui-ying She really put on a show in April, earning the Batter of the Month Award in the Republic League!

The Portland right fielder batted .366 with 9 home runs, 33 RBIs, 18 runs scored, along with 3 walks to compile a .383 on-base percentage.

Grierson Wins CL Top Pitcher Award
Saturday, May 1st, 2088: Rudy Grierson has been around the league long enough to know that relievers are often overlooked. That has never stopped him from doing what he does best -- and he did it extremely well in April and stole away with the Continental League Pitcher of the Month award.

The Raindrops bullpen ace collected 10 saves and 21 strikeouts in 15 innings, holding the opposition to a .161 average and posting a 0.60 ERA and a 2-1 record.


Legends Starter Named April's Premier Pitcher
Saturday, May 1st, 2088: In April, Bartolo Delgado tore through the Republic League like a seasoned veteran -- quite impressive for a player only 22 years old.

The young New York starter posted a 5-0 mark and an ERA of 1.43 to earn the Pitcher of the Month award. In 44 innings he collected 47 strikeouts while limiting the opposition to a .199 average.

CL Selects Rookie Star of the Month
Saturday, May 1st, 2088: Ramón Lozano earned April's Rookie of the Month honors in the Continental League for last month's performance. The boyish Washington first baseman might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level.

Lozano hit .378 with 4 home runs, 24 RBIs and 13 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award.


Delgado Chosen RL's Best Newcomer
Saturday, May 1st, 2088: Yes, Bartolo Delgado is just a rookie. But he is a special rookie. Today the 22-year-old New York starter was awarded the Republic League Rookie of the Month trophy for his standout performance in April.

He dominated the rookie class, registering 5 wins and no losses in 6 starts with 47 strikeouts in 44 innings and a 1.43 ERA.

Not bad for a first-year man.

Longoria Awarded May's CL Top Bat Prize
Tuesday, June 1st, 2088: In May, Manuel Longoria swung a sweet bat and put together a solid month to win the Continental League Batter of the Month.

The St Cloud center fielder batted .423 with 4 home runs, 23 RBIs and 26 runs scored.

This year Longoria is hitting .382 with 5 home runs and 30 RBIs in 53 games played. He also boasts an OBP of .468 with 32 walks and 37 runs scored.


López Wins RL's Best Bat Award
Tuesday, June 1st, 2088: Seasoned by several years of professional experience, 27-year-old Juan López put together a solid offensive month for New York and was crowned May's top batter in the Republic League.

He batted .414 with 7 home runs, 29 RBIs and 27 runs scored.



So far this season López is hitting .365 with 12 home runs.

Continental League Selects #1 Starter in May
Tuesday, June 1st, 2088: A standout performance in May earned Raúl Peña the Pitcher of the Month Award in the Continental League. When his name was penciled in to start by the Washington skipper, it meant trouble for opposing teams. For the month the Freedom star racked up 3 wins and no losses.

In 33 innings of work, Peña limited opposing batters to 21 base hits and a .186 batting average. He notched 22 strikeouts, issued 6 walks and had a 0.55 ERA.

Presently Peña has a 6-0 mark in 10 starts with a 2.10 ERA. He has given up 46 hits in 60 innings, struck out 38 and issued 15 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .216 batting average against him.


Denúñez Chosen May's Best RL Hurler
Tuesday, June 1st, 2088: When Juan Denúñez takes the mound, a Cleveland victory is usually the result. At least that's the way it was in May.

He excelled with a 4-1 mark and a 1.99 ERA in 7 starts, tossed 40.2 innings, fanned 36 and held opposing batters to a .224 average.

That's why the Naps starter was honored today as the Pitcher of the Month by the Republic League.

This year Denúñez has 5 wins and 2 losses and a 2.92 ERA.

Manchester Rookie Biggest Vote-Getter in CL
Tuesday, June 1st, 2088: Eduardo Moreno put up some real solid numbers to sew up the Continental League Rookie of the Month honors this month.

In May he chalked up 35 hits, 10 home runs and drove in 27 runs. The Manchester left fielder compiled a .318 average and a .386 OBP as he worked opposing pitchers for 14 walks.

This season in 51 games, Moreno has hit at a .291 clip with 60 hits, 12 home runs, 36 RBIs and 28 runs scored.


Republic League Names Rookie of Month
Tuesday, June 1st, 2088: Joe Stevens is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest Republic League Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers.

In May the Cleveland hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .336 average with 37 hits, 5 home runs and 21 RBIs.

So far in 2088 Stevens is batting .325 with 11 home runs, 36 RBIs and 30 runs scored. He has 63 hits in 194 at-bats and a .377 OBP.

Super Month Nets Salamanca #1 Batter Prize in CL
Thursday, July 1st, 2088: To survive in the bigs, you've got to be a scrapper like Claudio Salamanca. It never pays to take a day off from the batting cages or to shrug off the advice of the hitting coach. It all paid off today as Manchester's shortstop pinned down the Continental League Batter of the Month trophy today.

He hit .319 in June collecting 9 home runs, 29 RBIs and 19 runs scored.

Presently Salamanca is batting .312 and has collected 18 home runs, 62 RBIs, .424 OBP and scored 52 runs.


RL's Best Batter Picked
Thursday, July 1st, 2088: Juan López battered Republic League pitchers all June and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award.

"I've been around FOOL-X long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 27-year-old López told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."

In 27 games, López hit .337 with 10 home runs, 26 RBIs and scored 19 runs.

This year López is batting .356 with 22 home runs and 77 RBIs. In 80 games he has scored 61 times.

June's Best Hurler in CL Is Olarte
Thursday, July 1st, 2088: Luis Olarte is at the zenith of his career and today he was selected as the Continental League Pitcher of the Month for June.

He made 14 relief appearances for Plantana last month, throwing 18.1 innings and collecting 5 saves, a 3-0 record, 28 strikeouts and a 1.47 ERA.

This season Olarte has made 34 relief appearances with 15 saves. His won-lost record is 5-5 with a 3.23 ERA.


RL Top Pitcher for June Picked
Thursday, July 1st, 2088: The Republic League hitters didn't have a chance in June when the Portland Axemen manager wrote "Ayala" on the lineup card. Outing after outing, Juan Ayala held teams in check and usually got a win.

He excelled with a 4-0 mark and 2.51 ERA in 5 starts. The talented Axemen star pitched 32.1 innings, fanned 44 and held opposing teams to a .208 average.

For his superb mound work Ayala was named the RL Pitcher of the Month by the baseball writers.

Checking out his stats for the year, Ayala has racked up 6 wins and 6 losses in 16 starts, 4.68 ERA and struck out 102 batters in 92.1 innings.

June's #1 Newcomer Named by CL
Thursday, July 1st, 2088: Washington's Ramón Lozano created quite a buzz around town today when he was presented June's Continental League Rookie of the Month trophy.

The standout rookie first baseman took the award by connecting for 31 hits in 91 at-bats for a .341 batting average. During the month he collected 2 home runs, drove in 15 runs and scored 16 times.

For the season Lozano has produced 94 hits in 271 at-bats for a .347 average with 7 home runs and gotten on base at a .381 clip.


Williams Selected RL's #1 Rookie
Thursday, July 1st, 2088: Daniel Williams was toddling around on his tricycle when some of the guys he's playing against were in their prime, but the 24-year-old right fielder definitely knows how to get to first, second or beyond. Today he was chosen June's Republic League Rookie of the Month for his remarkable month of hitting.

In 27 games Williams batted .379 for Las Vegas, slapping 44 hits in 116 at-bats with 5 home runs, drove in 15 runs and scored 23 times.

In his season totals, Williams has 11 home runs, .336 BA, .368 OBP, 44 RBIs and 55 runs scored. He has played in 79 games.

Sánchez Snares CL Top Batter Award in July
Sunday, August 1st, 2088: Esteban Sánchez earned July's Batter of the Month honors in the Continental League by reeling off a .359 average, going 23 for 64 with 10 home runs, 21 RBIs and 21 runs scored.

The soon-to-be free agent was hitting with great urgency in an effort to bolster his asking price in the Washington clubhouse and around the rest of the league.

Sunday, August 1st, 2088: When guys like Cleveland's António Mercado win Batter of the Month awards, it just makes you feel good. In a productive July, the longtime Republic League veteran toyed with opposing pitchers all month long, collecting 40 hits in 102 at-bats.

The veteran left fielder hit for a .392 batting average and collected 7 home runs, 12 RBIs and 18 runs scored.

Havana Reliever Named CL #1 Pitcher
Sunday, August 1st, 2088: Havana's Colin Graves hated to see July end. It was one of the single greatest months the reliever has posted, and the 35-year-old reliever did so well that he garnered enough votes for the Continental League Pitcher of the Month trophy.

Graves held the opposition to a .200 batting average in 14 relief appearances. He worked 13.1 innings, collected 9 saves, sat down 14 on strikes and posted a 2-0 record and a 0.68 ERA.

This year Graves has 26 saves, totaled 55.1 innings, allowed 48 base hits and fashioned a 1.95 ERA while racking up 70 strikeouts and a record of 4 wins and 3 losses.


RL Pick for Top Pitcher in July is Delgado
Sunday, August 1st, 2088: Capping off a whirlwind month in which he went 4-0 with a 1.86 ERA, Bartolo Delgado was selected as July's Republic League Pitcher of the Month today. Reporters caught up with the elated New York starter as he left the clubhouse.

"I know it's difficult for pitchers -- when you have a bad start or two, people start wondering if you've lost it. Then you ride stretches like this one for all you can. You find it easier to come to the park every day because know you're contributing to the club, not just waiting for your turn in the rotation to make up for your last start."

Bartolo Delgado definitely contributed to the club. He had 6 starts, throwing 38.2 innings, striking out 47, and holding the opposition to a .208 average.

In 25 starts this season, Delgado has recorded 15 wins and absorbed 6 losses. He has pitched 160 innings, allowed 144 hits, struck out 165 and has a 3.32 ERA.

CL Names Rookie of the Month
Sunday, August 1st, 2088: Eduardo Moreno certainly had a lot to crow about in the Continental League in July. The rookie left fielder for Manchester tagged opposing pitchers for a .347 batting average and was the top votegetter for the Rookie of the Month trophy.

He won it by going 35-101 in 25 games with 5 home runs, 26 RBIs and 15 runs scored.

Currently Moreno is hitting .294 and has collected 23 home runs, 80 RBIs and scored 64 times, while playing in 103 games.


Williams Wins RL Rookie Award
Sunday, August 1st, 2088: A veritable toddler to the Republic League, Daniel Williams just sewed up the Rookie of the Month trophy for July.

Over the past month the 24-year-old right fielder for Las Vegas hit .388 with 38 hits, 2 home runs and 13 runs batted in. He also logged 6 walks and compiled a .411 on-base percentage.

Williams is presently hitting at a .348 pace with 13 home runs, 57 RBIs and has scored 73 times.

St Louis's Estrada Top CL Batter in August
Wednesday, September 1st, 2088: Ángel Estrada of the St Louis Hops stood out in August with a .351 batting average against Continental League pitchers to land him the Batter of the Month award.

The 31-year-old first baseman totaled 7 home runs, 40 RBIs and 28 runs scored. He also chipped in 16 walks for a .433 on-base percentage.

Estrada is currently batting .273 with 22 home runs and 104 RBIs.


RL Batter of the Month Honors to Sisson
Wednesday, September 1st, 2088: For the month of August, Greg Sisson of the Maricopa Rattlers has really worn out the sweet spot on his bat. He has assaulted, used and abused Republic League pitchers to the tune of a .284 batting average and was honored as the hottest hitter of the month today.

Sisson went 31 for 109 last month with 11 walks. The center fielder tallied 11 home runs, 29 RBIs, 22 runs scored and compiled a .350 on-base percentage.

Currently Sisson has 34 home runs and a .249 batting average.

Nieves CL Winner, Top Hurler in August
Wednesday, September 1st, 2088: It doesn't happen often, but it did in August. A reliever, Francisco Nieves, is the recipient of the Continental League Pitcher of the Month award.

The Hops bullpen ace starred with 7 saves in 15 relief appearances with a 1-0 record, logging 18.1 innings, 21 strikeouts, 1 walk and a 0.98 ERA.

For the season Nieves has made 63 relief appearances, recorded 32 saves and compiled a 2-5 won-lost mark and a 2.24 ERA. In pitching 72.1 innings, he has totaled 96 strikeouts and 16 walks.


Silva Nets RL #1 Pitcher Award
Wednesday, September 1st, 2088: The Pitcher of the Month Award has been announced and the Republic League winner is Ann Arbor hurler, Claudio Silva. For his standout performances in August he has been named the league's best pitcher.

During the month, Silva excelled with a 1.70 ERA and 4 wins and no losses. In 42.1 innings he struck out 31 and gave up 37 hits and 9 walks.

Over the season Silva has thrown 176.1 innings and dished out 113 strikeouts with a 11-9 mark and a 3.22 ERA.

Moreno Heads the Rookie Class
Wednesday, September 1st, 2088: The whole town is celebrating today in Manchester as Eduardo Moreno has just been awarded August's Continental League Rookie of the Month trophy.

The standout rookie left fielder took the award by rapping out 43 hits in 114 at-bats for a .377 batting average. During the month he collected 7 home runs, drove in 24 runs and scored 15 times.

Moreno is hitting .312 this year with 30 home runs and 104 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .375, 53 walks and scored 79 times.


August's Top RL Rookie Named

Durán CL Outstanding Batter of the Month
Friday, October 1st, 2088: The Continental League has made it official -- Orlando Durán is the winner of the Batter of the Month trophy.

In September, the Havana second baseman starred with a .337 batting average, 5 home runs and 17 RBIs. Durán also had 25 walks, posted a .465 on-base percentage and scored 29 times.

Durán is hitting at a .307 mark this season. His stats show 21 home runs, 86 RBIs and 121 runs scored. He has played 159 games for the Banana Sluggers.


Hollis Picks Up Best RL Batter Honors for September
Friday, October 1st, 2088: The premier hitter in the Republic League in September was Portland center fielder Jon Hollis. For his standout play, he was voted the Batter of the Month.

Hollis was selected after batting .319, hitting 7 home runs, scoring 18 runs and driving in 20.

On the year Hollis is hitting .261 with 174 hits, 24 home runs, 85 RBIs, .297 OBP and has scored 85 runs.

CL Top Pitcher Award for September to Kawamura
Friday, October 1st, 2088: It's a rarity when someone out of the pen gets recognition as the Continental League Pitcher of the Month, but that's exactly what happened today as St Louis reliever, Ryushi Kawamura, earned September's title.

He tossed 33.2 innings, posting a 4-0 mark, 1.60 ERA, sitting down 17 on strikes and also nailing down no saves in his no relief appearances.

To date this year Kawamura has saved 0 games while tossing 187.2 innings. He has a 3.40 ERA, fanned 94 batters and made no relief appearances.


RL's Premier Starter is Hope
Friday, October 1st, 2088: Silvino Hope's been around the league long enough to appreciate the honor he received today. After going 5-0 in September, the 28-year-old Ann Arbor hurler has been named Republic League Pitcher of the Month.

He fanned 22 in 33 innings, logged an ERA of 2.45 and allowed opponents to hit .228 against him.

In 32 starts this year Hope has crafted a 14-10 record and a 3.96 ERA.
