Hathaway Named CL Batter of the Month
Saturday, May 1st, 2151: Mike Hathaway battered Continental League pitchers all April and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award.

"I've been around Front Office Offseason League long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 27-year-old Hathaway told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."

In 23 games, Hathaway hit .394 with 8 home runs, 30 RBIs and scored 14 runs.


Hammersmith's Spencer Collects April Batting Honor
Saturday, May 1st, 2151: Today Hammersmith's Bobby Spencer was named Republic League Batter of the Month for April. He slammed opposing pitching hard all month long, bashing out 44 hits in 112 at-bats.

With a .393 batting average, 5 home runs, 22 RBIs and 16 runs scored, he was a solid choice.

Saturday, May 1st, 2151: Charles Collins certainly found a groove in April. The Brooklyn starter posted 4 wins last month to easily claim the Continental League Pitcher of the Month.

During the month Collins was 4-0 with a 1.13 ERA. He made 5 starts, tossed 39.2 innings and had 37 strikeouts.


April's Starter of the Month Goes to Ricci
Saturday, May 1st, 2151: Cândido Ricci has made fans throughout Front Office Offseason League take notice over the past month with an exceptional 5-0 record. No pitcher in the Republic League threw better in April, garnering him the Pitcher of the Month award today.

In 5 starts Ricci compiled a 2.41 ERA, putting up a 5-0 record, striking out 38 and tossing 37.1 innings.

Saturday, May 1st, 2151: Dave Dean earned April's Rookie of the Month honors in the Continental League for last month's performance. The boyish Baltimore center fielder might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level.

Dean hit .256 with 6 home runs, 19 RBIs and 12 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award.


April's Best Newcomer Named by RL
Saturday, May 1st, 2151: Hartford has a new rising star.
His name is Cândido Ricci and he is April's Rookie of the Month in the Republic League. This standout first-year pitcher wowed fans, peers and sportswriters with a fabulous performance over the last month.

In 5 starts he chalked up 5 wins and no losses with a 2.41 ERA, notched 38 strikeouts in 37.1 innings and held other clubs to a .216 average.

Gómez Crowned Batter of the Month in May
Tuesday, June 1st, 2151: When León Gómez stepped up to the plate in May, he did it with confidence and today he was honored with the Continental League Batter of the Month award.

The young Tokyo center fielder posted a .344 batting average with 5 home runs, 23 RBIs and scored 20 runs. Gómez also worked pitchers for 12 walks to post a .446 on-base percentage.

Currently Gómez has 10 home runs and a .293 batting average.


RL's #1 Batter Chosen
Tuesday, June 1st, 2151: Seasoned by several years of professional experience, 29-year-old Gerardo Torrez put together a solid offensive month for Ann Arbor and was crowned May's top batter in the Republic League.

He batted .346 with 8 home runs, 27 RBIs and 17 runs scored.



This season Torrez has hit at a .337 clip and produced 44 RBI, 15 home runs and 30 runs.

May's #1 Hurler Announced: Randín Wins Award
Tuesday, June 1st, 2151: Anastasio Randín is at the zenith of his career and today he was selected as the Continental League Pitcher of the Month for May.

He made 12 relief appearances for Apex last month, throwing 15.1 innings and collecting 5 saves, a 4-0 record, 13 strikeouts and a 0.00 ERA.

During this season Randín has delivered 11 saves. In 25 relief appearances, he has 26 strikeouts in 28.1 innings with a 0.64 ERA and 5 wins and no losses.


Rancheros Hurler Named RL's Best Starter
Tuesday, June 1st, 2151: Alonso Pérez took home the Republic League Pitcher of the Month honors in May. After all these years playing ball, the 35-year-old veteran still enjoys the game as though he'd just broken camp for the first time a month ago. He's a bit older now with a few more aches and pains, but the old man has reason to celebrate, having gone 5-0 for Colorado last month and claiming the Pitcher of the Month award.

He tacked up a 3.57 ERA in his 5 starts, tossing 35.1 innings and striking out 17.

Pérez has made 10 starts, tossed 64 innings, struck out 34 batters and walked 10. His record is 7-1 with a 5.06 ERA and he has limited other teams to a .316 batting average.

CL Selects Rookie Star of the Month
Tuesday, June 1st, 2151: A veritable toddler to the Continental League, Juan Gutiérrez just sewed up the Rookie of the Month trophy for May.

Over the past month the 24-year-old left fielder for Apex hit .312 with 24 hits, 2 home runs and 16 RBI. He also logged 12 walks and compiled a .404 on-base percentage.

On the season, Gutiérrez is batting .322 with 3 home runs and 28 RBIs. He has played in 47 games.


Hartford First Baseman May's Best Rookie
Tuesday, June 1st, 2151: Youngster Jack Ratcliffe emerged as the latest Republic League Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Hartford deserved the honor, batting .298 with 6 home runs and 19 RBI. Is the month of May a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Ratcliffe enjoy the limelight.

A look at his season totals shows Ratcliffe with 10 home runs, .276 BA, .302 OBP, 31 RBIs and 36 runs scored.

Thursday, July 1st, 2151: Carlos Manuel of the Noblesville Millers was named the Continental League's best batter for his fine performance in June.

He compiled a .434 batting average and .482 on-base percentage during the month. In 26 games he piled up 43 hits, 9 home runs, 30 RBIs and 21 runs scored.

This season Manuel is batting .367 with 20 home runs.


Torrid June Gets Spencer RL #1 Batter Trophy
Thursday, July 1st, 2151: The hard-hitting shortstop from Hammersmith, Bobby Spencer, wielded a big bat in June and was hailed as the Republic League Batter of the Month.

He hit a healthy .375 with 7 home runs, 17 RBIs and 23 runs scored.

Thursday, July 1st, 2151: Frank Jones has been around the league long enough to know that relievers are often overlooked. That has never stopped him from doing what he does best -- and he did it extremely well in June and stole away with the Continental League Pitcher of the Month award.

The Gothams bullpen ace collected 8 saves and 16 strikeouts in 16.1 innings, holding the opposition to a .183 average and posting a 0.00 ERA and a 0-0 record.

This season Jones has earned 20 saves, tossed 49.1 innings, made 39 relief appearances, fanned 45 hitters and posted an ERA of 2.37. Teams are hitting .243 against him.


RL Selects Medina June's #1 Pitcher
Thursday, July 1st, 2151: Ánibal Medina's been around the league long enough to appreciate the honor he received today. After going 5-0 in June, the 34-year-old Hammersmith hurler has been named Republic League Pitcher of the Month.

He fanned 23 in 40 innings, logged an ERA of 1.80 and allowed opponents to hit .226 against him.

In 15 starts this season Medina has compiled a 8-3 record and a 3.84 ERA.

Thursday, July 1st, 2151: Jorge Flores is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest Continental League Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers.

In June the Noblesville hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .395 average with 32 hits, 2 home runs and 8 RBIs.

So far this season Flores has gotten 66 hits in 218 at-bats for a .303 batting average with 10 home runs. His stats include 28 RBIs and 43 runs scored. He has played in 67 games.

Thursday, July 1st, 2151: José Rodríguez's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young Toronto third baseman has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month.

Gómez Brings Home CL Batter of Month Honor
Sunday, August 1st, 2151: León Gómez feasted on Continental League pitching in July and today he walked off with the Batter of the Month award.

The Tokyo center fielder rapped out a .330 batting average while collecting 31 hits, 8 home runs, 18 RBIs and 23 runs scored.

So far this season Gómez is batting .301 with 26 home runs, 73 RBIs and 69 runs scored. He has 113 hits in 375 at-bats, 29 walks and a .390 OBP. Gómez has played in 102 games.

Today he was chosen July's Continental League Rookie of the Month for his remarkable month of hitting.

In 23 games Flores batted .368 for Noblesville, slapping 25 hits in 68 at-bats with 6 home runs, drove in 14 runs and scored 17 times.

Jones Chosen August's Best CL Hurler
Wednesday, September 1st, 2151: What Frank Jones of the Baltimore Gothams did to Continental League hitters in August was criminal. He assaulted them, broke them and walked off leaving them lifeless and lost as he stole away with the Pitcher of the Month award for his barbaric behavior.

"Jones was truly dominant out there," an opposing hitter said to reporters. "He really made hitters miserable."

The 29-year-old reliever threw 20.1 innings in 15 relief appearances as he registered 5 saves, 22 strikeouts, and notched a 3-1 record and 2.66 ERA for the month.

Wednesday, September 1st, 2151: It is a rare occurrence, but it happened in August. A reliever, Félix Torres, has been named the Pitcher of the Month in the Republic League.

CL Best Hitter Award to Noblesville's Mike Hathaway
Friday, October 1st, 2151: Mike Hathaway battered Continental League pitchers all September and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award.

"I've been around Front Office Offseason League long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 27-year-old Hathaway told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."

In 25 games, Hathaway hit .365 with 13 home runs, 40 RBIs and scored 20 runs.

This season Hathaway is batting .294 with 46 home runs.


Los Angeles's Jones Acclaimed Best RL Hitter
Friday, October 1st, 2151: Today Los Angeles's Royce Jones was named Republic League Batter of the Month for September. He slammed opposing pitching hard all month long, bashing out 38 hits in 106 at-bats.
