Marino RL's #1 Pitcher in August
Thursday, September 1st, 2072: Sancho Marino nailed down August's Republic League Pitcher of the Month award today, adding pressure on Las Vegas to get a deal done before the 29-year-old becomes a free agent.

Marino seems unfazed by the talk. "We get a deal done or we don't," he told reporters, "I'm not worrying about next year. Worrying about next year isn't what wins awards, you know?"

He fashioned a 4-1 record, reeled off 26 strikeouts, worked 43 innings and held batters to a .192 average for the month as he posted a 2.30 ERA.

Presently Marino has a 8-9 mark in 26 starts with a 3.37 ERA. He has given up 140 hits in 171 innings, struck out 107 and issued 73 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .224 batting average against him.


Best Pitcher Picked by Continental League
Thursday, September 1st, 2072: In August, when the name of Sergio Rodríguez appeared on the Stafford lineup card it was a virtual lock on a victory. He started 6 times and chalked up 5 wins and no losses. With those stats it was a also a virtual lock that he would be named the Continental League Pitcher of the Month.

Rodríguez shackled opposing batters on 24 base hits and a .147 batting average. He rang up 46 strikeouts in 46.2 innings of work, surrendered 10 walks and fashioned a sparkling 1.35 ERA.

Checking out his stats for the year, Rodríguez has racked up 11 wins and 8 losses in 27 starts, 3.44 ERA and struck out 171 batters in 183.1 innings.

Wright Claims RL Batter of the Month Award
Thursday, September 1st, 2072: Jake Wright, the New York Legends right fielder, certainly made his name known to Republic League hurlers over the last month. He consistently introduced himself with hit after hit and came away with August's Republic League Batter of the Month award.

He slashed and bashed his way to a .340 batting average while tallying up 6 home runs, 21 RBIs and 20 runs scored. He also worked RL pitchers for 18 walks and a .437 on-base percentage.

This season in 133 games Wright is batting .317 with 25 home runs, 87 RBIs and has scored 89 times.


Molina Wins CL's Best Bat Trophy
Thursday, September 1st, 2072: August was a very productive month for Rafael Molina and today the Oshawa catcher was awarded the Continental League Batter of the Month trophy.

He clobbered enemy hurlers for a .342 average, 9 home runs, 23 RBIs and scored 15 runs.

Currently Molina is batting .247 with 20 home runs and 79 RBIs.

New York Rookie Reels in Reward in August
Thursday, September 1st, 2072: Red-hot Iván Ramírez of the New York Legends went on a rampage against Republic League pitching and claimed the Rookie of the Month award for August.

He batted .313 and collected 35 hits, 4 home runs, 17 RBIs and scored 15 runs.

Ramírez is currently batting .272 with 15 home runs and 73 RBIs.

August's Best Newcomer Named by CL
Thursday, September 1st, 2072: In August, Roosevelt Brown knocked Continental League pitchers all over the ballpark all month long and put up numbers good enough to be voted the Rookie of the Month.

Last month the 28-year-old St Louis left fielder played in 25 games and hit .323 with 7 doubles, 1 triple and 2 home runs. Brown also scored 17 times and drove in 15 runs.

This season Brown is batting .268 with 8 home runs. He has scored 44 runs and driven in 53.

Connor Booms 400th Homer
Friday, September 9th, 2072: It was an historic day in the life of Ben Connor. The 37-year-old Stafford left fielder recorded the 400th homer of his career in the Terriers 7-3 triumph over the Oshawa Mullets.

In the clubhouse after the game, Connor told BNN, "I was just looking for a ball to drive... and I got one."

His lifetime stats show that Connor has hit .292 and connected for 400 home runs.

Mullets Cox Tames Stafford
Saturday, September 10th, 2072: Will Cox held the Terriers to 2 harmless hits as the Oshawa Mullets whitewashed Stafford by the score of 3-0. Cox had no walks and 6 strikeouts in the win.

This season Cox has worked 168.1 innings with 120 strikeouts en route to a 9-11 record and a 3.96 ERA.
