Really team? You're THAT bad? Apparently I need to spend the summer seriously revising my strategy (or adopting one).

Marlies to Honor Carl Ward in 2121
Carl Ward's number 35 will be placed on the outfield wall of Toronto stadium this season, honoring one of the greatest pitchers to walk on a FOOL field. Carl "Iron Horse" Ward pitched 2050 to 2068. Almost a lifetime ago to you youngsters out there. Ward began his career with the New York Heroes 70 years ago. He packed up with the team and moved north of the border in 2064, where Toronto fans got to enjoy him for 5 years. Ward made 10 all-star teams, won 3 Gabriel Prado awards, and led the league in 51 statistical categories over his 18 year career. Ward never won a FOOL championship, despite reaching the Classic 3 times. He won 273 games, struck out 3092 batters and was elected into the hall of fame in 2083. The spry looking 92 year old, who looks like he could still play, took a page out of the Ty Cobb book when talking about this honor. I asked him how many wins he would get playing against today's bigger and stronger players. "Oh, I don't know, it was a different era back then. I'd probably be good for 11 or 12 wins, but don't forget, I'm 92 years old!!!"

Some big hitters left in FA. A shame. I have 47 players in my majors right now.

Hall of Fame Welcomes Santvario
Monday, March 31st, 2121: Pedro Santvario was inducted into the Front Office Offseason League Hall of Fame today. Present at his induction ceremony were several former managers who had glowing words to say about baseball's newest immortal. "He is the only man I've ever seen pitch a shutout on a day when he had absolutely nothing." "Pedro pitched as well as he had to. He didn't worry about his ERA. He pitched to win. He was businesslike and he reacted to the score, so he didn't mind giving up a run or two. When it got close, he was tougher." "To be a successful manager, you have to have faith in God above and a Pedro Santvario on the mound." During his fabulous career he put up a 270-186 won-lost record with 3129 strikeouts in 4114.2 innings and compiled an impressive 3.32 ERA. |

Luis Marés Joins the Hall of Fame
Monday, March 31st, 2121: The way Luis Marés played baseball made the word "superstar" seem inadequate. He played the game at an even higher level and that's why he is now one of the immortals in the Front Office Offseason League Hall of Fame. Marés played in 2420 games with a .268 lifetime batting average. Among his 2340 hits were 531 doubles, 84 triples and 614 home runs. He also scored 1794 runs and drove in 1927 runs. One of his teammates described the talented right fielder this way: "The greatness of Luis Marés was something that had to be seen... and to see him was to remember him forever." Luis Marés was inducted into the Hall of Fame today after being elected by the Baseball Writers Association. The new Hall of Famer told the audience, "I just went out and did my job every day... and I guess I must have done it pretty well. Thank you for the honor you have given me today."
