Should have kneeled at the 1 instead of give LSU 39 seconds. Almost bit them in the ass.

Speaking of games where they could have kneeled at the 1 with about 30 seconds to go..

Two things, Holy shit, that Notre Dame QB scramble on 4th and 16 (got 17),

and the craziest play of the year was today in the UCF-Baylor game, that extended the game (but UCF weren't close enough to hit the field goal)

Shit. Never want to see that. (the injury, not necessarily the fumble)

Yeah good win after last weeks loss to Ohio State but that was a bad looking injury to the Duke QB.

Just a random thought: With the new rules about fair catches inside the 25 on kickoffs going to the 25, just get rid of the kickoff entirely. Make 4th and 20 or something the new onside kick.

I'm wondering who people in the thread would vote #1 at this point if you could, basing it on this season only - I get the 'Georgia should be there until they lose' mentality but if they go undefeated they're in the playoff anyway.

I would say Texas. Mostly this year strikes me as a sizable amount of quite good teams, but probably none that are great. Which could be interesting.

This will get a few catch-of-the-year votes. The photographer was tracking the right cornerback on the play.

It'll be even more awkward if Tucker wins in court and gets his job back. That would be high comedy.

(I don't think he wins, even though I do think he was setup, and was simply dumb enough to fall for it)

I just feel so bad for him and his family. Cancer sucks.
Edit: It does look like he has a good chance of recovery at least. When you hear brain cancer, you expect the worse, but it looks like this one is survivable as long as it hasn't spread.

No chance Tucker gets his job back, this is just a negotiation for how much of his contract he'll get. And I'm guessing there will be a settlement - not sure on the heels of Nassar MSU can afford FOIA requests and the thorny questions of who knew what when and possibly who leaked her name.

Kyle McCord is such a step down from recent Ohio State QBs it is hard to watch. Maybe he just needs experience but it looks like he's running through progressions way too fast and somehow still late on most throws.

Maryland should be up 2 scores but tied at halftime.

I’ve only been watching the second half, but it seems like the Texas o-line is getting away with blatant holding on almost every play.

I guess he got the experience he needed at halftime again. Or, he just stopped over analyzing things and remembered to throw it to MH Jr.

Do they even do background checks there? Shoot they even just had a professor who was arrested for running a meth lab whose disguise was apparently just using his first initial and middle name. 403 Forbidden

Tez Walker situation was ridiculous the whole time. I'm all for cracking down on double undergraduate transfers but they didn't even have football when he was at the first school during the Covid year, he came back to NC to be near his sick grandmother, both prior schools had written in support of him getting a waiver. Glad he can play, nice to see the NCAA still trying to blame UNC for not giving them the information that was widely publicly known, sounds like Stein threatening an antitrust lawsuit may have actually been the difference.

Oklahoma/Texas has been a classic, what a way to kick off the slate. (And sounds like LSU is playing one just like last week too, how does LSU of all places not have any decent DB's?!? ) Some epic timeout mismanagement too because it's a college game in 2023.

OU-Texas turned out to be one of the best games in quite a while. Texas didn't have the benefit of playing against a mannequin at quarterback like they did last year in this game. Most likely, these two will meet again in the Big 12 championship game.

Given the time and field position situation combined with where the ball hits the defender this might be the worst Pick 6 throw I've ever seen.

Am I wrong in thinking that desperation pass from the end zone hit a defender, and thus shouldn’t have been intentional grounding?

From referee dot com

Quote:
The rule specifies “an area not occupied by an eligible offensive receiver.” That’s to make a distinction with defensive players, who are all eligible. Thus, a pass thrown only near a defensive player does not excuse intentional grounding. Of course, if the pass is intercepted, a penalty for intentional grounding would be declined unless it was fourth down and the penalty with loss of down would yield better field position.

I can only assume that the "officials" in the Ole Miss-Arkansas game have money on the Hogs. That's about a blatantly corrupt fucking officiating as I've seen in a single series.

How the SEC ended up with what is now by far the worst officials in the fucking country is a mystery but it's consistent week in and week out, a combination of incompetence and downright crooked.

The amount of money they must pocket off betting has got to be incredible.

And Van Dyke tried hard to do it AGAIN.

He's throwing like he's playing without his contact lenses in or something.
