This blows - you can't even see the ball cuz of the snow, even though it's yellow.

At least on the wide shots.

Yeah, I'm not confident at all. The snow is a grand equalizer but I'm betting it gets crazy before it's over.

Take a shot Clint. Grrrr.

Conditions so bad you might get a fumbled save and an easy goal.

I will say that I like Gomez/Dempsey/Zusi backing Altidore up top. I could see some real space opening up and some guys who will shoot and put pressure on the keeper.

Agreed. I like Gomez a lot, and Zusi has some skills.

Running out of patience with the whole Altidore thing though. Not 100% sure it's his thought - he does fine in Holland so I think he has ability, but something about him with the national team just hasn't worked (Can't really analyze why right now).

Hey look - a goal!

Good thing it deflected to Dempsey - Altidore's initial shot was going to go hella embarrassingly wide.

Wow, i can't even see the ball anymore. Why don't they have an orange ball?

PS - I can't help but thinking if this happened outside the US, all the US fans would be complaining about the 3rd world conditions.

The slower play certainly helps out back line. These guys look gassed. I can't imagine the combination of the snow, the little slips trying to keep your balance, and the altitude. These guys are going to be a wreck going to Mexico City in a couple days.

Many props to the Costa Rica Players for agreeing to continue to play, and the Sam's Army and American Outlaws for providing that environment.

A lot of the Costa Rican players play professionally for Scandinavian teams.

The exactly type of super-ugly win you need in CONCACAF world cup qualification. I will remember that game for a long time.

Thought the entire backline looked great, Beasley looked 5 years younger out there.

Costa Rica is filing a protest. They are also saying that if it hadn't snowed they would have won.

If the US didn't have to play in sweltering humidity on terrible surfaces they'd never lose in Central America.

Was thinking this too during the game. U.S. might be the worst team in the hex. Still don't think they will qualify.

Landon Donovan is really taking this break seriously.

It's not really Donovan. In case you were worried.

hah, I just read an article about that and that's a small town in West Wales that my grandma lived when I was really young. From what i remember there's absolutely nothing to do there, so it kinda makes sense.

The guy is now getting flown out to some soccer expo in Dubai, getting put up in a suite in a five star hotel and getting paid $200 a day to show off his skills. Great story.

It's on! Of course, I'm pessimistic. I would be happy with a close game, and a good showing, even if we lose tonight. A 1-1, or 0-0 would be a win. Very scared with the back line. But maybe we will find a diamond in the rough back there.
