Why in the world is Al Dean not comp eligible? I offered him 2M over what he asks for and still refuses and then OOTP messes him up completely.

Now he is asking for less then I offered him same years. This screws me.

Sorry to see you had trouble with this, hyde. I have seen this sort of thing before, too. Well, not so much the pay him more than he wants and he doesn't accept extension offer (was there maybe some other change you included he might have not liked?), but I have seen players ask for less--even a lot less--in free agency then what they asked for for an extension. It's actually fairly common, and I don't know why. Something, no doubt, relating to available free agent money and the scarcity of similar players/positions in the market in the free agency period versus the "market" deal determined with cimilar player contracts of record prior to free agency.

Only thing I changed was the last year being a player option. It gave him an out if he thought the money wasn't enough for him at the time.

It's stupid, but that might have been it. I know they changed how things are viewed when it comes to showing options in the last year for either oOTP10 or 11, how that contract is valued. It should be very pertinent that it's a player option, of course, but it's not like Markus has always developed perfect algorithms for everything. It's possible his formula doesn't specify the type of option or puts too little weight on it in comparison to the AI viewing that last deal as "optional".

Heck, it could also have just been one of those 1 in a 100 things. You know, that small chance programmers will work into algorithms that the player will do something that is very unlikely, but not impossible, like signing with the Phillies for less overall money than the Rangers or Yankees.

Only you know what he asked for before FA and what you offered him. If you had it to offer, then you probably have the space to still offer it now. And since his demands have dropped, he's even more likely to accept. So I would offer him the same deal or at least the original deal he was asking for to extend.

Thanks for taking the time to give your opinion chief. I have made a few offers that last year being a player option and usually it works as intended. But also I made offers in the other sims for exactly what he was asking for and still he didn't accept. I don't have much problem with him not taking the offer as much as I have a problem with the fact for some reason he isn't comp eligible. That doesn't make any sense at all.

I offered Dean a deal that would pay him 49M over 4 years with that 4th year being a player option. I guess he just didn't like me. I got Sweeney though so goodbye to Mr. "I don't have a clue what loyalty with money is" Dean.

Hey guys.

I should probably let you know that I've had more than one complication getting my computer back up and running. One of them was the loss of OOTP11 for a while. I'll still be running my team in FOOL, but for now it breaks my heart to say that I'm stepping down from running the Raindrops. Maybe people will hate my name so much, that they'll stay away long enough for me to come back and run them at some point in the future...but knowing how great this league is, I doubt you'll have problems finding someone to take my place.

Is there a "Keep Teach in FOOLX" Charitable Fund? Because if so, I, too, would like to donate.

Hey hey hey....none of this "I'm leaving because of computer problems" nonsense! You know you have tech savvy people on here that would be more than happy to help out. If Hyde can't figure it out, I'll give it a shot.

Sorry Teach that I went away tonight. I had my brother show up in a surprise for the holiday. Guys if anyone wants to help figure it out here is where we are at. We have her game licensed and we have her league folder setup. What I can't seem to figure out is why she is getting a message says she can't load the league. What can I be missing?

Make sure the gm settings file is in the correct location. that should allow it to pull down the file correctly.

I'm not computer savvy, so I don't know that I can help with a specific fix, but I figured this question will eventually come from one of the others: what is the exact message the game is giving when it says it can't load the league? A particular error code or how the error message is worded might be a clue as to what the issue is.

I know this is basic but have you totally take 11 off your computer and reinstalled it?

Ive never used my second game code or whatever it is they give us so if you happen to need that as well just ask. Although someone would have to show me where to find it HAHA.

Yes, Teach if you can give the error message you are receiving that would help. I was under the impression you were having problems downloading and loading the league file. I did not know you couldn't even open the initial file.

That could be something as simple as the league file is not manually extracted to the right location on the computer so the game can't find the world.dat file

I guess that's possible, but I did everything step-by-step exactly as Hyde told me (and had been doing the same thing for days before that on my own).

I just want to be clear that FOOLX does load with the right date and I can move things around and make changes to my team, but I can't export them and I can't load the online league file.

That was part of the problem, but Hyde saved me. I appreciate the willingness to help though! You're great!

Awww, thank you SO much! Next time my computer explodes (and it will) you'll be the first to know! (And I don't know much, obviously, but I think the second game code is the same as the first one.)

Ok, that goes back to the settings file that I had sent previously. What directory did you put that in? (Full path name).. or perhaps I accidently sent you the wrong file, what is the name of the file I sent you?

Awesome. Alan, Teach's issue reminded me of that time a few months back after the last OOTP11 patch, when the FTP settings wouldn't work for me. You eventually got a fix that I downloaded that got it working. I was wondering if it might have been that, but it seems not. Glad you guys got it working--FOOL (in any form) is not FOOL without Teach.

Hmmm... so I guess it would be a massive miss for the ratings system if it's not me versus hyde for the CL tomorrow. Heh... (although I seem to recall a few C's and even a D rating in the past end up in the playoffs).

As usual, I am not as confident in my team as the ratings system seems to be.
