2007 Season Thread
Well, even with the extra day, this week has found me extremely busy. I may be a minute or two late.

Don't we have until 1 a.m.?
I am close to finishing now, but that's the time I had in the back of my mind. Don't tell me that was a once (or twice) thing only?

Well, I've exported, but if nobody grabs it for a bit I'd like to play with strategy some.

Yeah, I'm thinking about it. If we really have a few more hours, that'll help me think some.

Valdosta has clinched a playoff berth for the 4th straight year.
Meanwhile, Atlanta and Brooklyn are duking it out for the CL wild card, with the RL race boiled down as usual to Colorado and Boston. Baltimore has an outside shot at the CL, with some strong play down the stretch. |

Man it sucks so bad to fall short by one game. Looking at the file it would appear out of anyone in the CL you matchup best with the beast that is Valdosta this year. Also looking at the file there were some very noteworthy accomplishments that occurred this year. GL to both of you in the playoffs, lets keep the trophy in the CL again this year.

Wow if someone would have told me I would finish 5 games out of the playoff spot before the season I would have said they were full of shit. We faded down the stretch. Congrats to Chief, Alan, Gstelmack, and Buck on fine seasons.

Wasnt this your first full season with them? I think after a few drafts and FA periods, where you can get the guys you want in there youll be fine and back to being in the thick of things Last edited by muns : 02-14-2009 at 08:47 AM. |

With 3 starters, a reliever, and 5 hitters on the All-Star roster, I'm glad we turned it around after our midseason slump and got back to the playoffs. Now to see if we can figure out Compton and finally make a Classic.

Well I have no clue what I'm doing apparently. Color me disappointed, I thought this team had much more in it than 86 wins. The RL was a pure dogfight, and I think I brought a Yorkie or something.

I'm really happy with the way this season turned out. I'm glad we were able to win the regular season RL title and prove that last year was not a fluke.
Last year Boston owned Compton in the regular season and we were able to handle them pretty easily in the playoffs. This year we had the advantage in the regular season, so perhaps Boston will pay us back for last season's early exit. I'm expecting a hard fought 7 game series. Best of luck to the playoff teams. Congratulations to Valdosta for a sickening 112 wins, Boston for making the playoffs yet again, Baltimore for showing a marked improvement, and everybody else for a great season! Prediction: Compton v Valdosta in the Classic and a 5 game sweep for the Brothers |

Yeah, pretty stunning to me to see how much Valdosta lit it up against the CL, and yet, only broke even with me. And yet I struggled with the rest of the CL as much as anyone else. Still, I'll take it. I have a chance, although I have a well-documented history of failing miserably in pretty much every series I have with Alan, even when all statistical signs point to me being a favorite, much less now, when I am significantly less than a favorite.

I am exported tonight. Good luck to Atlanta, Compton and Boston.

I didn't do anything to that particular one, but the one you'll see tonight has more players added to it.

I just noticed that my second baseman Emil Glas has a hit in 27 straight games and only needs one hit in game 1 of the playoffs to move into a tie for number 5 on the list of all time hit streaks.
As a side note, Valdosta's first baseman Antonio Arias had a 36 game hit streak this season. That's the second longest streak in FOOL history. So if I hadn't traded Arias to Valdosta before the season started, Compton could have seen two of the top ten hit streaks in the same year! Definitely missed out on a good marketing opportunity there ::EDIT:: I made a mistake, Arias' streak was last year. Disregard all this psycho babel. I have to admit, knowing I won so much less games than Alan, but also knowing there were some things my team did good against him (and acknowledging that his park, FWIW, is actually a very good park for my hitters, except for the POW dump) makes this a compelling matchup for me. Also, since I am so obviously the underdog here, I can do it without pressure. I am expected to lose (as I should be) to a 112 win team, so the pressure's off, and it has given me freedom to try some much more radical things in this series, at least for me.
I will be very curious how it all plays out.
