St Louis's Kim Winner, CL Best Hitter in April
Thursday, May 1st, 2092: Seasoned by several years of professional experience, 28-year-old Jung-wan Kim put together a solid offensive month for St Louis and was crowned April's top batter in the Continental League.

He batted .348 with 3 home runs, 13 RBIs and 12 runs scored.


Langman Earns April's Top Batter Prize in RL
Thursday, May 1st, 2092: Anthony Langman battered Republic League pitchers all April and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award.

"I've been around FOOL-X long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 26-year-old Langman told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."

In 22 games, Langman hit .429 with 6 home runs, 24 RBIs and scored 20 runs.

Continental League Names #1 Pitcher in April
Thursday, May 1st, 2092: Despite the number of years he's been in the league, Joe Pugh still gets excited when he puts together a quality stretch like he had in April. The 29-year-old starter for Washington was named Continental League Pitcher of the Month earlier today.

He collected 4 wins and no losses with 24 strikeouts in his 4 starts, putting up a fine 1.32 ERA in 27.1 innings of work.


Wildcats Padilla April's #1 Pitcher
Thursday, May 1st, 2092: Manny Padilla is at the zenith of his career and today he was selected as the Republic League Pitcher of the Month for April.

He made 10 relief appearances for Las Vegas last month, throwing 24.1 innings and collecting no saves, a 4-1 record, 13 strikeouts and a 2.59 ERA.

CL Selects Rookie Star of the Month
Thursday, May 1st, 2092: Youngster Soetsu Suzuki emerged as the latest Continental League Rookie of the Month today. The young man from St Cloud deserved the honor, batting .161 with 3 home runs and 5 RBI. Is the month of April a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Suzuki enjoy the limelight.


Republic League Names Rookie of Month
Thursday, May 1st, 2092: Bob Graves was toddling around on his tricycle when some of the guys he's playing against were in their prime, but the 24-year-old right fielder definitely knows how to get to first, second or beyond. Today he was chosen April's Republic League Rookie of the Month for his remarkable month of hitting.

In 17 games Graves batted .397 for Las Vegas, slapping 23 hits in 58 at-bats with 6 home runs, drove in 15 runs and scored 10 times.

CL's Top Hitter Named
Sunday, June 1st, 2092: Tokaji Sekine feasted on Continental League pitching in May and today he walked off with the Batter of the Month award.

The Plantana right fielder rapped out a .377 batting average while collecting 40 hits, 7 home runs, 22 RBIs and 28 runs scored.

So far this season Sekine is hitting .314 with 10 home runs.


Hewitt Garners RL Batter of the Month Award
Sunday, June 1st, 2092: Robby Hewitt of the Maricopa Rattlers stood out in May with a .297 batting average against Republic League pitchers to land him the Batter of the Month award.

The 29-year-old left fielder totaled 14 home runs, 37 RBIs and 25 runs scored. He also chipped in 9 walks for a .364 on-base percentage.

Currently Hewitt is hitting .280 and has collected 17 home runs, 52 RBIs and scored 37 times, while playing in 50 games.

CL Pick for Top Pitcher in May is Olarte
Sunday, June 1st, 2092: Luis Olarte has been around the league long enough to know that relievers are often overlooked. That has never stopped him from doing what he does best -- and he did it extremely well in May and stole away with the Continental League Pitcher of the Month award.

The Pirates bullpen ace collected 3 saves and 25 strikeouts in 19.2 innings, holding the opposition to a .216 average and posting a 1.37 ERA and a 4-1 record.

To this point in the season he has had 8 saves. Olarte has made 28 relief appearances, tossed 36.2 innings and struck out 48 with a record of 5 wins and 3 losses.


Romero Grabs RL Top Pitcher Trophy
Sunday, June 1st, 2092: Júlio Romero was the anchor in the Cleveland bullpen last month and snatched up the Republic League Pitcher of the Month honors for May. The 31-year-old is in the prime of his career and pitching like he intends to stay around baseball for quite some time to come.

He threw 21.2 innings over 17 relief appearances and collected a 3-1 record with 21 strikeouts and 5 saves while etching his 0.42 ERA.

This season Romero has crafted a 4-3 won-lost mark, pitched in 25 relief appearances and rung up 6 saves. He has a 2.08 ERA and has allowed 20 hits over his 30.1 innings of work, struck out 31 batters and walked 7.

May's Best Rookie Named by CL
Sunday, June 1st, 2092: In May Manchester catcher Tse-tung Ma was named Rookie of the Month in the Continental League.

Last month Ma posted a .192 average with 19 hits, no home runs and 10 RBIs.

This season in 49 games, Ma has hit at a .169 clip with 30 hits, no home runs, 18 RBIs and 8 runs scored.


Rookie Wiz Gets May Award in RL
Sunday, June 1st, 2092: A veritable toddler to the Republic League, Ignacio Valdéz just sewed up the Rookie of the Month trophy for May.

Over the past month the 22-year-old left fielder for Spring hit .333 with 33 hits, 1 home run and 17 runs batted in. He also logged 11 walks and compiled a .421 on-base percentage.

For the season, Valdéz is hitting at a .325 clip with 2 home runs, 27 RBIs and has scored 23 runs. He has 55 hits, 16 walks and a .397 on-base percentage.

Tuesday, July 1st, 2092: When guys like Havana's Vincent Bungay win Batter of the Month awards, it just makes you feel good. In a productive June, the longtime Continental League veteran toyed with opposing pitchers all month long, collecting 34 hits in 96 at-bats.

The veteran third baseman hit for a .354 batting average and collected 2 home runs, 11 RBIs and 18 runs scored.

This year Bungay has hit 3 home runs and posted a .287 batting average.


Trevino Picks Up Best RL Batter Honors for June
Tuesday, July 1st, 2092: The premier hitter in the Republic League in June was Waikiki first baseman Roberto Trevino. For his standout play, he was voted the Batter of the Month.

Tuesday, July 1st, 2092: Phil Conboy of the London Bishops strung a bunch of high quality starts together in June to earn the Continental League Pitcher of the Month trophy.

For the month he finished with a superlative 4 wins and 1 loss and a 1.60 ERA. The London star started 6 games, pitched 39.1 innings and struck out 44.

This year Conboy has posted a 5-7 mark in 16 starts and has a 3.02 ERA.


Legends Delgado Chosen June's Best in RL
Tuesday, July 1st, 2092: The #1 pitcher this past month in the Republic League was Bartolo Delgado of the New York Legends. He worked the hitters over real good, finishing June with a superb 4-1 record and a 1.90 ERA.

The Legends star made 7 starts and surrendered 19 hits in 47.1 innings. He struck out 60 and walked 6.

Tuesday, July 1st, 2092: It was an trophy-winning month for Carlos Meléndez of the Manchester Terriers. He started 7 games and came away with 4 wins and the Continental League Rookie of the Month award.

For the month of June the 27-year-old Meléndez recorded a 4-1 won-lost mark with a 2.05 ERA and 27 strikeouts in 44 innings.

Continental League Picks July's Best Batter
Friday, August 1st, 2092: Tokaji Sekine has been the model of consistency over the past month and has been a tough out, claiming the Continental League Batter of the Month trophy for July.

The Plantana right fielder hit .398 with 7 home runs, 27 RBIs and 20 runs scored. He was also walked 8 times and posted a .438 on-base percentage.

This season Sekine has delivered 136 hits in 402 at-bats for a .338 average with 22 home runs. He is getting on base at a .413 clip and his totals also include 79 RBIs and 77 runs scored. This year Sekine has played in 103 games.


RL Announces Best Batter Award
Friday, August 1st, 2092: José Guilléin, the Cleveland catcher, had a productive month in July. He put up some solid numbers with a .395 batting average (30 for 76), 10 home runs, 16 RBIs and 21 runs scored.

That standout offense earned him the Republic League Batter of the Month Trophy.

Thus far this year Guilléin is hitting .312 with 31 home runs, 79 RBIs and 63 runs scored.

CL Selects Conboy July's Best Pitcher
Friday, August 1st, 2092: The Pitcher of the Month Award has been announced and the Continental League winner is London hurler, Phil Conboy. For his fine efforts in July he has been named the league's #1 pitcher.

During the month, Conboy excelled with a 2.27 ERA and 4 wins and no losses. In 31.2 innings he struck out 40 and gave up 25 hits and 12 walks.

In 21 starts this season Conboy has fashioned a 9-7 record and a 2.83 ERA.


Legends Méndez July's #1 Pitcher
Friday, August 1st, 2092: When Ramiro Méndez takes the hill, there's a good chance for a New York victory. At least that's the way it was in May.

He excelled with a 5-1 mark and a 2.92 ERA in 6 starts, tossed 37 innings, fanned 33, and held enemy hitters to a .234 average.

That's why the Legends star was honored today as the Pitcher of the Month by the Republic League.

Season-to-date Méndez has rung up 11 wins and 8 losses in 25 appearances. He has an ERA of 4.77 and has fanned 108 batters in 134 innings.

Suzuki Voted July's #1 Newcomer
Friday, August 1st, 2092: Soetsu Suzuki is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest Continental League Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers.

In July the St Cloud hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .311 average with 32 hits, 4 home runs and 10 RBIs.

For the year Suzuki is hitting .225 with 12 home runs. His stats include 36 runs batted in and 49 runs scored.


Top Rookie of the Month Named by RL
Friday, August 1st, 2092: Ignacio Valdéz's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young Spring left fielder has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month.

In July he was voted the Rookie of the Month Award.

During the month he hit .329 with 6 doubles, no triples and 3 home runs. Valdéz also scored 11 times and drove in 12 runs.

González Snags CL Batting Honor in August
Monday, September 1st, 2092: Javier González let his bat do the talking in August and the Continental League heard him loud and clear. He made plenty of noise as he put together a .388 batting average and was named the top hitter of the month.

González's month to remember saw him accumulate 45 hits, 3 home runs, 19 RBI, 20 runs, 13 walks and a .446 on-base percentage.

González is hitting .302 for the season with 10 home runs, 40 RBIs and 74 runs scored. He has 156 hits in 517 at-bats and played in 130 games.


Bradley Takes Home RL Top Batter Award
Monday, September 1st, 2092: The Republic League has given Ben Bradley the Batter of the Month Award.

In August, the Ann Arbor right fielder starred with a .330 batting average, 11 home runs and 30 RBIs. Bradley also had 11 walks, posted a .386 on-base percentage and scored 21 times.

Bradley on the season is hitting .281 with 40 home runs. His stats include 126 RBIs and 80 runs scored.

Sánchez Voted Best CL Pitcher in August
Monday, September 1st, 2092: The hottest hurler in the Continental League last month was Roberto Sánchez of the Manchester Terriers. He caught the attention of everybody in the league with some eye-catching stats, good enough to win the CL Pitcher of the Month.

In August, Sánchez starred with an impressive 5-1 record. In 8 starts he gave up 49 base hits and struck out 30 in 52.2 innings with a 3.08 ERA.

Up to now Sánchez has recorded a record of 13-10. In 30 starts he has fanned 125 batters in 195.1 innings with a 3.82 ERA.


Torres Takes RL Top Starter Trophy
Monday, September 1st, 2092: As Carlos Torres hoisted up the Republic League Pitcher of the Month trophy for August, rumors have already begun to swirl about whether he will leave Las Vegas once his contract is up at the end of the season.

Torres put pressure on the Wildcats to keep him around by posting a 6-0 record and an ERA of 1.86 over 38.2 innings last month. He also rolled up 32 strikeouts, increasing his value both to Las Vegas and to every other team in the league.

This season Torres has compiled a 14-6 record with a 2.91 ERA in 25 starts.

Red-Hot St Cloud Rookie Rated CL's Best
Monday, September 1st, 2092: St Cloud's Soetsu Suzuki put the wraps on an excellent month today, topping it off with the Continental League Rookie of the Month award.

Last month the 23-year-old St Cloud left fielder played in 27 games and hit .282 with 3 doubles, no triples and 7 home runs. Suzuki also scored 14 times and drove in 18 runs.

This season Suzuki is hitting .236 with 19 home runs.


Guzmán Voted August's Best RL Rookie
Monday, September 1st, 2092: The whole town is celebrating today in Las Vegas as Sergio Guzmán has just been awarded August's Republic League Rookie of the Month trophy.

The standout rookie catcher took the award by rapping out 29 hits in 93 at-bats for a .312 batting average. During the month he collected 2 home runs, drove in 11 runs and scored 11 times.

This year Guzmán is hitting .265 with 7 home runs and 52 RBIs to his credit. He has gotten on base at a .295 clip and scored 50 runs.

September's Premier Batter Announced
Wednesday, October 1st, 2092: On the heels of a very productive September, Vincent Bungay received Continental League Batter of the Month recognition today.

The battle-tested second baseman hit .345 for the Havana Banana Sluggers and racked up 3 home runs, 19 RBIs and 24 runs scored.

This year Bungay has hit 12 home runs and posted a .309 batting average.


Super Month Nets Iverson #1 Batter Prize in RL
Wednesday, October 1st, 2092: In the month of September Dan Iverson thumped the ball with authority, earning Republic League Batter of the Month honors in the process.

Spring's third baseman hit .348 with 12 home runs, 26 RBIs and scored 24 runs.

Currently Iverson is batting .296 with 198 hits and 34 home runs. He has knocked in 108 runs and scored 106 times.

Hope Earns CL's Best Pitcher Honor
Wednesday, October 1st, 2092: Veteran Silvino Hope put together quite a successful stretch in September for the St Louis Hops, earning himself the Continental League Pitcher of the Month award.

Hope racked up a 5-0 record in 6 starts, posting a 1.61 ERA over 44.2 innings and striking out 51.

This year Hope has compiled a 18-6 record with a 2.90 ERA in 31 starts.


RL's Premier Starter is Delgado
Wednesday, October 1st, 2092: In September New York starter, Bartolo Delgado really put the strong arm on the other Republic League teams and hauled in the Pitcher of the Month trophy. He did it with an impressive 4 wins and 1 loss.

In 7 starts and 50.1 innings of work, Delgado limited opposing batters to 33 base hits and a .183 batting average. He fanned 57, issued 8 walks and had a 0.89 ERA.

This season Delgado has a 15-11 record with a 2.40 ERA in 38 starts.

Rookie Reels In Continental League Award
Wednesday, October 1st, 2092: For a man of advanced years in baseball terms, Bernard Deschênes is defying all logic by wading through his first Continental League season. Nonetheless, Deschênes is proving a formidable performer for Oshawa, at least as far as this past September is concerned. Today he was hailed as the Continental League Rookie of the Month.

He put up a .321 average with no home runs, 15 RBIs and 7 runs scored.

This year Deschênes is batting .305 with no home runs. He has scored 27 runs and driven in 46.


Terry Voted September's #1 Newcomer
Wednesday, October 1st, 2092: Steven Terry was toddling around on his tricycle when some of the guys he's playing against were in their prime, but the 24-year-old first baseman definitely knows how to get to first, second or beyond. Today he was chosen September's Republic League Rookie of the Month for his remarkable month of hitting.

In 27 games Terry batted .296 for Waikiki, slapping 29 hits in 98 at-bats with 7 home runs, drove in 18 runs and scored 16 times.

Thus far this year Terry has hit .267 with 22 home runs and 79 RBIs.
