CL Honors Fonzio, #1 Batter in April
Friday, May 1st, 2093: Seasoned by several years of professional experience, 30-year-old Romano Fonzio put together a solid offensive month for St Louis and was crowned April's top batter in the Continental League.

He batted .298 with 7 home runs, 21 RBIs and 20 runs scored.


RL's #1 Batter Announced
Friday, May 1st, 2093: His solid numbers speak for themselves. That's why Randy Noel of the Las Vegas Wildcats was named the Republic League's best batter in April.

The Las Vegas first baseman starred with a .422 batting average, 3 home runs and 15 RBIs.

CL Selects Yi April's Best Starter
Friday, May 1st, 2093: Sang-hyuk Yi nailed down April's Continental League Pitcher of the Month award today, adding pressure on St Louis to get a deal done before the 32-year-old becomes a free agent.

Yi seems unfazed by the talk. "We get a deal done or we don't," he told reporters, "I'm not worrying about next year. Worrying about next year isn't what wins awards, you know?"

He fashioned a 5-1 record, reeled off 27 strikeouts, worked 35.2 innings and held batters to a .200 average for the month as he posted a 1.77 ERA.


Kim Named Top RL Hurler
Friday, May 1st, 2093: Jian-guo Kim is at the zenith of his career and today he was selected as the Republic League Pitcher of the Month for April.

He made 11 relief appearances for Spring last month, throwing 15 innings and collecting 4 saves, a 4-1 record, 19 strikeouts and a 3.60 ERA.

Friday, May 1st, 2093: Felipe Costello sizzled last month as he put together a successful bid for the Continental League Rookie of the Month.

In April the Havana Banana Sluggers right fielder banged out 14 hits and 2 home runs for a solid .350 average. He also scored 5 runs and drove in 16.


Republic League Names Rookie of Month
Friday, May 1st, 2093: Palmer Walters earned April's Rookie of the Month honors in the Republic League for last month's performance. The boyish New York designated hitter might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level.

Walters hit .250 with 5 home runs, 19 RBIs and 14 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award.

Hubbard Takes Home CL Top Batter Award
Monday, June 1st, 2093: Emerson Hubbard battered Continental League pitchers all May and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award.

"I've been around FOOL-X long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 30-year-old Hubbard told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."

In 27 games, Hubbard hit .333 with 8 home runs, 29 RBIs and scored 21 runs.

Posting a .285 batting average to date, Hubbard has 11 home runs and 45 RBIs.


Walters Takes Best Bat Trophy in May
Monday, June 1st, 2093: May's outstanding offensive player in the Republic League has been picked and the honor goes to the New York designated hitter Palmer Walters.

He won the award by batting .360, hitting 11 home runs, knocking in 29 runs and scoring 24 times.

Walters is currently batting .315 with 16 home runs and 48 RBIs.

May's Pitcher of the Month Goes to Knight
Monday, June 1st, 2093: Veteran Derril Knight put together quite a successful stretch in May for the Havana Banana Sluggers, earning himself the Continental League Pitcher of the Month award.

Knight racked up a 5-1 record in 5 starts, posting a 2.23 ERA over 40.1 innings and striking out 31.

This year Knight has worked 69.1 innings with 56 strikeouts en route to a 8-1 record and 2.99 ERA.


Soreni Cops #1 Pitcher Award in May
Monday, June 1st, 2093: Ruggiero Soreni hated to see May turn to June.
And who could blame him?
The 32-year-old hurler piled up 5 wins and no losses for the Wolverines last month and won the Republic League Pitcher of the Month award for his efforts.

Soreni stymied opposing batters on 33 base hits and a .239 batting average. He rang up 19 strikeouts in 35.2 innings of work, surrendered 14 walks and fashioned a sparkling 3.03 ERA.

In 10 starts this season Soreni has chalked up a 8-1 record and a 3.21 ERA.

CL Selects Rookie Star of the Month
Monday, June 1st, 2093: Ernesto Jijón is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest Continental League Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers.

In May the London hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .319 average with 29 hits, 3 home runs and 11 RBIs.

This season Jijón is batting .295 with 44 hits, 5 home runs, 18 RBIs, .344 OBP and has scored 22 runs.


May's #1 Rookie Named by RL
Monday, June 1st, 2093: A veritable toddler to the Republic League, Palmer Walters just sewed up the Rookie of the Month trophy for May.

Over the past month the 23-year-old designated hitter for New York hit .360 with 31 hits, 11 home runs and 29 RBI. He also logged 17 walks and compiled a .466 on-base percentage.

Thus far in 2093 Walters is hitting .315 with 16 home runs, 48 RBIs, 38 runs scored and has compiled a .426 OBP.

Red-Hot June Lands Ford Batting Prize in CL
Wednesday, July 1st, 2093: To survive in the bigs, you've got to be a scrapper like Chester Ford. It never pays to take a day off from the batting cages or to shrug off the advice of the hitting coach. It all paid off today as Manchester's third baseman pinned down the Continental League Batter of the Month trophy today.

He hit .424 in June collecting 3 home runs, 19 RBIs and 23 runs scored.

A look at his season totals shows Ford with 8 home runs, .306 BA, .411 OBP, 42 RBIs and 50 runs scored.


Trevino Crowned Batter of the Month in June
Wednesday, July 1st, 2093: Though his face is weathered and his hands are calloused, Roberto Trevino can still get it done in FOOL-X. In fact, the 31-year-old catcher for Waikiki was named the Republic League Batter of the Month today after putting up an impressive performance at the plate.

In June he batted .361 with 9 home runs, 32 RBIs and 24 runs scored.

In the 2093 season Trevino is hitting .258 with 16 home runs.

Hops Miller Named CL's Best Pitcher
Wednesday, July 1st, 2093: Jimmy Miller was the anchor in the St Louis bullpen last month and snatched up the Continental League Pitcher of the Month honors for June. The 32-year-old is in the prime of his career and pitching like he intends to stay around baseball for quite some time to come.

He threw 20 innings over 17 relief appearances and collected a 6-1 record with 27 strikeouts and 1 save while etching his 2.25 ERA.

So far this season, Miller has a 9-2 won-lost record with 2 saves. He has made 49 relief appearances, logged 51.2 innings and fanned 74 batters while fashioning a 3.31 ERA and allowing the opposition a .220 batting average.


Delgado Takes RL #1 Pitcher Trophy
Wednesday, July 1st, 2093: Despite the number of years he's been in the league, Bartolo Delgado still gets excited when he puts together a quality stretch like he had in June. The 27-year-old starter for New York was named Republic League Pitcher of the Month earlier today.

He collected 5 wins and 1 loss with 31 strikeouts in his 7 starts, putting up a fine 2.95 ERA in 39.2 innings of work.

So far this year Delgado has made 19 starts, tossed 120.1 innings, struck out 104 batters and walked 27. His record is 12-3 with a 2.92 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .247 batting average.

Newcomer Honored by Continental League
Wednesday, July 1st, 2093: Ernesto Jijón's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young London first baseman has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month.

In June he was voted the Rookie of the Month Award.

During the month he hit .220 with 6 doubles, no triples and 7 home runs. Jijón also scored 11 times and drove in 24 runs.

This year Jijón is hitting .267 with 12 home runs and 42 RBIs to his credit. He has gotten on base at a .322 clip and scored 33 runs.


Rookie Honored by Republic League
Wednesday, July 1st, 2093: Mauro Sandoval was toddling around on his tricycle when some of the guys he's playing against were in their prime, but the 23-year-old left fielder definitely knows how to get to first, second or beyond. Today he was chosen June's Republic League Rookie of the Month for his remarkable month of hitting.

In 28 games Sandoval batted .343 for New York, slapping 36 hits in 105 at-bats with 3 home runs, drove in 18 runs and scored 18 times.

So far this season, Sandoval has recorded a .305 batting average with 92 hits, 7 home runs, 44 RBIs, 45 runs scored and a .384 OBP.

July's Premier Batter Announced
Saturday, August 1st, 2093: In the last year of his deal with Washington, Emerson Hubbard has created some waves by winning July's Continental League Batter of the Month title today.

He put up a solid .348 batting average with 9 home runs, 27 RBIs and 20 runs scored. He also worked CL pitchers for 10 walks and a .410 on-base percentage.

If he keeps churning out numbers like these, the 30-year-old is sure to draw some attention, when contract time rolls around.

This season Hubbard is batting .283 with 27 home runs.


Williams Named RL Batter of the Month
Saturday, August 1st, 2093: The Republic League Batter of the Month has been chosen for July and the trophy was presented to Daniel Williams of the Waikiki Beach Boys.

He stood out this month with a .410 batting average, 43 hits and 3 home runs, along with 20 RBIs and 21 runs scored.

Posting a .352 batting average to date, Williams has 9 home runs and 53 RBIs.

Raindrops Hurler Named CL's Best Starter
Saturday, August 1st, 2093: This month when the St Cloud manager wrote the name "Maldonado" on the lineup card, he was pretty confident that he would get a good start out of him. Outing after outing in July César Maldonado took command and usually got the win.

He dominated with a 4-1 mark and 3.08 ERA in 5 starts, piling up 38 innings and 34 strikeouts and holding opposing teams to a .222 average.

For his superb performance Maldonado was named the Continental League Pitcher of the Month by the baseball writers.

His record this season is 9-4 in 20 starts and Maldonado has a 2.54 ERA.


Storey Earns RL's Best Pitcher Honor
Saturday, August 1st, 2093: Chris Storey of Las Vegas had an award-winning July as he took home the Republic League Pitcher of the Month award.

"He told me once people used to make fun of the way he pitches," Storey's pitching coach told reporters. "There wasn't anybody laughing in July except for Chris."

Storey was all business when he took the mound though, collecting a 4-0 record in 5 starts. He struck out 39 batters in 31.2 innings and kept opponents to a .168 batting average.

This season Storey has compiled a 11-4 record with a 2.56 ERA.

Rookie Wiz Gets July Award in CL
Saturday, August 1st, 2093: Youngster Ernesto Jijón emerged as the latest Continental League Rookie of the Month today. The young man from London deserved the honor, batting .324 with 2 home runs and 9 RBI. Is the month of July a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Jijón enjoy the limelight.

Thus far in 2093 Jijón is hitting .280 with 14 home runs, 51 RBIs, 44 runs scored and has compiled a .330 OBP.


Hamilton Honored by Republic League
Saturday, August 1st, 2093: In July Brett Hamilton swatted his way to the Rookie of the Month Award in the Republic League by putting up a .407 batting average.

The Waikiki Beach Boys right fielder also racked up 22 hits, 2 home runs, 9 RBIs and scored 6 runs.

So far this season Hamilton is hitting .278 with 8 home runs, 34 RBIs and 29 runs scored. He has 66 hits in 237 at-bats and a .310 OBP.

Sekine Top Hitter in CL in August
Tuesday, September 1st, 2093: Tokaji Sekine of the Plantana Pirates had a field day with Continental League pitchers last month and was crowned the Batter of the Month as a result.

During August he compiled a .339 batting average, drove in 24 runs and scored 16 times. He also managed to pick up 7 walks to post a .374 on-base percentage.

In the current season, Sekine has put up a .305 batting average with 159 hits, 25 home runs, 79 RBI and scored 80 runs.


New York's Walters Snags August Batting Title
Tuesday, September 1st, 2093: The Republic League Batter of the Month has been picked for August and the honor goes to the New York Legends Palmer Walters.

He compiled a .356 batting average with 31 hits and 12 home runs, along with 28 RBIs and 25 runs scored.

For the year Walters is batting .315 with 32 home runs.

Mullets Tadeo August's Top Hurler
Tuesday, September 1st, 2093: Gabriel Tadeo's been around the league long enough to appreciate the honor he received today. After going 5-1 in August, the 34-year-old Oshawa hurler has been named Continental League Pitcher of the Month.

He fanned 42 in 40 innings, logged an ERA of 0.90 and allowed opponents to hit .203 against him.

Tadeo has started 26 times this year, pitched 168 innings, fanned 163 batters and walked 38. His current record is 9 wins and 8 losses with a 2.41 ERA.


New York's Delgado Chosen August's Best in RL
Tuesday, September 1st, 2093: August's elite pitcher was Bartolo Delgado of New York. He silenced Republic League hitters the entire month and claimed the Pitcher of the Month award with 4 wins and 1 loss in 6 starts.

Delgado restricted opposing hitters to a .220 batting average. He rang up 35 strikeouts in 42 innings of work, surrendered 9 walks and crafted a 2.36 ERA.

Tuesday, September 1st, 2093: The outstanding Continental League rookie in August was Plantana's catcher Arthur Brannon.

Last month he played in 27 games and hit .310 with 7 doubles, no triples, and 2 home runs. Brannon also scored 9 times and drove in 10 runs.

Brannon has collected 95 hits for the Pirates this year, 12 of them home runs. He has also netted 45 RBIs and scored 49 runs while batting .208.


Walters Selected RL's #1 Newcomer
Tuesday, September 1st, 2093: First-year man Palmer Walters really swung a mean bat for the last thirty days in the Republic League and has been picked as the Rookie of the Month.

During the month he hit .356 with 5 doubles, 1 triple and 12 home runs. Walters also scored 25 times and drove in 28 runs.

This season Walters is batting .315 with 106 RBIs, 95 runs scored and 32 home runs.

Oshawa's Flores Collects September Batting Honor
Thursday, October 1st, 2093: When guys like Oshawa's Raúl Flores win Batter of the Month awards, it just makes you feel good. In a productive September, the longtime Continental League veteran toyed with opposing pitchers all month long, collecting 41 hits in 108 at-bats.

The veteran first baseman hit for a .380 batting average and collected 3 home runs, 18 RBIs and 22 runs scored.

Flores has a .344 average and a .452 on-base percentage for the year. He has picked up 204 hits, 11 home runs and driven in 83 runs.


RL Best Hitter Trophy Goes to Graves
Thursday, October 1st, 2093: The premier hitter in the Republic League in September was Las Vegas right fielder Bob Graves. For his standout play, he was voted the Batter of the Month.

Graves was selected after batting .393, hitting 11 home runs, scoring 22 runs and driving in 29.

For the season Graves has hit .313 with 41 home runs and 124 RBIs. He has played in 135 games and scored 85 times.

McGinnis Is CL's Best Pitcher in September
Thursday, October 1st, 2093: Ed McGinnis of the Plantana Pirates is the Continental League Pitcher of the Month.
In September he sparkled and shined on the mound with 4 wins and 1 loss in 5 starts.

McGinnis checked opposing batters on 26 base hits and a .184 batting average. He rang up 30 strikeouts in 39.2 innings of work, surrendered 13 walks and fashioned a 0.68 ERA.

In 31 starts this season McGinnis has recorded a 14-14 record and a 3.00 ERA.


Delgado Best RL Starter in September
Thursday, October 1st, 2093: A standout performance in September earned Bartolo Delgado the Pitcher of the Month Award in the Republic League. When his name was penciled in to start by the New York skipper, it meant trouble for opposing teams. For the month the Legends star racked up 5 wins and 1 loss.

In 47.2 innings of work, Delgado limited opposing batters to 35 base hits and a .207 batting average. He notched 51 strikeouts, issued 8 walks and had a 2.08 ERA.

For the season Delgado has compiled a 23-7 record with a 3.16 ERA.

Thursday, October 1st, 2093: It was an excellent month for Ernesto Jijón. He really swung into action! The first baseman for the London Bishops was named September's best newcomer in the Continental League.

He captured the honor by hitting .378 with 28 hits, 4 home runs, 12 RBIs and 7 runs scored.

Jijón is currently hitting at a .292 pace with 20 home runs and 70 RBIs.
