Why is button response so slow online?

Whenever I try to counter punch, my fighter never throws the punch when i push the button. But for some reason it seems like my opponent is getting all of there punches off clean. I have a cable modem.

Does anyone know why this is?

Button response is never as quick online as it is offline. You just have to get used to it and deal. This is true of all games, all connections.
