Cincinnati, OH -- Aroldis Chapman's first save opportunity of the 2013 season didn't go as planned as he gave up 6 earned runs in the 9th inning and blew a 3 run lead as the Angels beat the Reds 9-6.
The Reds bats were very active in the first inning as the jumped all over Angels start C.J. Wilson for 6 runs in the first inning, including home runs by Brandon Phillips, Jay Bruce, Todd Frazier, and Ryan Ludwick. The first inning would be all the offense that the Reds would get as they got runners into scoring position but could not capitalize with runners in scoring postion.
Reds starter Mat Latos pitched 6 innings giving up 2 runs, both solo shots to Josh Hamilton and Chris Iannetta. The Bullpen would pitched 2 shut out innings before Chapman surrendered the 6 runs to the Halos in the top of the 9th.
Jay Bruce hits a 2 run home run in the 1st inning
Iannetta is named Player of the Game

Cincinnati, OH -- The Reds bounced back to take the series finale from the Angels 6-5. Reds Starter Bronson Arroyo would settle down after giving up a 2 run home run to Albert Pujols in the top of the first inning. He ended up pitching 6 innings giving up 3 runs on 4 hits while striking out 5. He left with a no decision. Angels starter Tommy Hanson left in the 3rd inning with what was later determined to be a strained leg muscle, he is day to day.
The Reds would score 1 run in innings 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 9. Cincinnati got home runs by Shin-Soo Choo and Todd Frazier, who hit his 2nd home run of the season. Brandon Phillips had 2 doubles on the day and Ryan Ludwick picked up 2 RBI in the win, including the walk off single in the 9th.
Hamilton can't hang on to a ball hit by Phillips
Pujols hits a 2 run home run in the 1st inning
Shin-Soo Choo ties it up in the 5th
Frazier watches his go ahead home run in the 6th
Todd Frazier is named Player of the Game

Cincinnati, OH -- Homer Bailey turned in a 3 hit shutout in a Reds 3-0 win on Friday night at Great American Ball Park. Bailey was dominant throughout the game only allowing 3 hits while striking out 5.
In a game that was a pitcher's duel, both Bailey and Nationals starter Dan Haren dominated opposing batters as both only allowed 1 hit through 6 innings. The Reds would break through in the 7th however. After Brandon Phillips walked to lead off the inning, Joey Votto hit a one hopper over the right field fence for a ground rule double, holding Phillips at 3rd. Haren would be relieved at that point by reliever Henry Rodriguez. With the infield in and nobody out, Jay Bruce lined up the middle for a 2 run single. In the 7th, the Reds added another run as Shin-Soo Choo hit a solo shot to right field. The home run was Choo's second of the season.
