    A Birds' Franchise.....

Well, I hate to bombard the baseball dynasty thread with another Blue Jays franchise, but I am almost a month into the 2015 season and I'm not starting over lol.

For this franchise I will be using:
    Sliders: TNK V2
    Rosters: OS V1
Difficulty: All Star (Pitching & Hitting)
30 team control - w/ trades off until start of the 4th week in June (to limit trades) but I will not be vetoing any of them. What the CPU does, I'm rolling with it.

Also, whatever the 40 man were after Spring training, it will be. No adjusting of the rosters for every team.

I will be playing every game, I just can't sim even if I tried to. I'm not great at making this dynasty thread all colorful and attractive looking. You will probably see your basic screenshots and table generators with some write up, rumors, team news etc.

I chose the Blue Jays because they are in the AL. I alternate leagues every year. I like their mixture of young, veteran, aging, players. I think this team can be a powerhouse if the right moves are made. There are players on this team that can be moved and get something in return. There are players on this team that it's kind of up in the air as to what I think I should do with them, whether trade now, let them walk, resign. All in all, I think the challenge that the Blue Jays roster presents seems challenging to me.

Hope to get some followers and I will do my best to make this as interesting as possible.

    Re: A Birds' Franchise.....

As we head into the 2015 baseball season, you can say there is a bit of urgency and high hopes in Canada. It’s been a while that the Toronto Blue Jays have sat atop the AL East division. Although the Blue Jays have young talent on the team, is it enough to compete with an aging and declining Jose Reyes? Let’s not leave out two starters on the rotation, Mark Buerhle and RA Dickey, who are 36 & 41 respectively. Last but not least, how much more are the Blue Jays going to get out of Jose Batista? Will Batista be that poker chip that gets the Blue Jays what they need in return? Let’s take a look at the Blue Jays outlook position by position.

    Catcher:
With the signing of Russell Martin, Dioner Navarro is likely to move to the bench as the backup catcher to Martin. Even after Navarro’s better than expected season last year, the hefty contract of Martin will put him atop the depth chart. Look for Navarro to split the DH role

Towards the future: Max Pentecost will be the future if he can excel in the minors. If not, look for the Blue Jays to rely on scouting for a catcher.

    1st Base:
At 32, and still producing, Edwin has made it clear he would like to DH. That would mean Justin Smoak would assume the first base position, thus leaving Navarro to come off the bench instead of DH’ing. It would be silly to take at bats away from Encarnacion when he has proved his big bat is a must in this Blue Jay lineup.

Towards the future: Don’t be surprised if the Blue Jays are out of contention and a team in desperate need of a big bat calls the front office to inquire about Edwin Encarnacion

    2nd Base:
This position seems to have been a carousel for this franchise. Veteran Maicer Izturis would seem like the most likely candidate for second base. But with a young talent in Devon Travis, the Blue Jays seem to be leaning towards the youngster to start the season at second.

Towards the future: Look for Devon Travis to hover second base for years to come if he can live up to his potential.

    Shortstop:
His $22 million dollar salary say one thing and his on field production say another thing. But neither compensate each other. Add the strings of injury and the shortstop position might as well be a huge question mark for the Blue Jays. Jose Reyes owns the postion as of now and likely to start the season there but one thing is for sure, Reyes has struggled to be that promising player again, both on the basepaths and fielding.

Towards the future: It’s very unclear whether Toronto will attempt to trade Reyes or just let his contract play out.

    3rd Base:
After giving up quite a bit for Josh Donaldson, it seems like dividends have paid off. Selected to his first all star game last year and only 28 years old, Donaldson should see third base everyday and bat fifth behind Encarnacion.

Towards the future: With Donaldson being safe at third for the time being, the Blue Jays will be looking to evaluate talent in the minors.

    Left Field:
Michael Saunders will be the regular here, possibly platooning with someone else. Nothing concrete here

Towards the future: Players in minors will be evaluated and scouts will be working the draft.

    Center Field:
For now Dalton Pompey and Kevin Pillar will be splitting time in center. Their play will be evaluated with the less productive player possibly being sent down to AAA.

Towards the future: There’s a lot to still prove for Pillar and Pompey. Both with upside. Tightly going to evaluate draft prospects.

    Right Field:
Probably the most secured player at position on this team, Jose Bautista. He gets the everyday start at right and locked in as the #3 hitter. But there have been rumors the Jays will listen to offers for him. He is in the final year w/ the option in the Blue Jays hands. And at 34, what kind of contract could the Jays offer him.

Towards the future: Most of it depends on Bautista and what the Jays will do with him. I suspect the Toronto will scout heavy to replace Joey Bats.

    Rotation/Bullpen/Closer:
Well, if pitching wins then winning is a huge question mark. Jays will be going with Burhle, Dickey, Stroman, Hutchinson, Aaron Sanchez in the rotation. Leaving Norris and Estrada to come out the pen. But don’t be surprised if Norris finds his way to the starting rotation. The pen seems to be average at best. AAA ball will be monitored closely and the ballclub has instilled confidence in Miguel Castro to be the teams closer for 2015.

Towards the future: It all depends on how the present performs. With trading chips across the board, pitching should not be an obstacle.

We opened up at Yankee Stadium and besides the eight hits, which were scattered, not much production other than Buerhle pitching effective but taking the loss.

The Jays bats woke up, atleast on this day. All 5 runs coming by way of homeruns. Texiera added a couple of hits for the Yankees to give him 5 and 2 homers in the first two games. Brett Cecil with some nice relief work for the hold and striking out 5 of the 6 batters he faced.

Sanchez and Sabathia dueled for 7 innings, each allowing only one run. Neither factored into the decision. Loup gave up the go-ahead run scoring double in the 8th. Sanchez got no help at the plate and the Blue Jays were only able to squeeze out 4 hits and come up on the short end of this opening series.

Blue Jays head to Baltimore for a 3 game series.

                      Re: A Birds' Franchise.....

Alright, so being that I do not have the time I have switched up how I approach my franchise. I will be playing every game, sort of. I forgot who mentioned it in one of their threads but I will be alternating each game. one game I will only pitch and sim the at bats and the next game I will bat and sim the pitching. I forget who's idea it was but I'm stealing it lol. I won't be posting every game like I wanted to. I will do it by series.

I will post team stats, player stats, league leaders etc at the end of each month. I also switched to Dynamic Difficulty, I feel that it is more of a challenge for me personally.

Sorry for the stall, I really enjoy reading other dynasties here.
