Re: 40 Year Old Virgins - Mariners Franchise

Martin dominant as Mariner's stop home skid

Seattle - Cody Martin went 6.2 innings of shutout baseball for the Mariners as their two run second inning was enough to put away the Royals 2-1. Taylor Motter and Boog Powell had the RBI's for the M's, who got good bullpen work out of Steve Cishek, and Edwin Diaz as well who got his fifth save of the season. The Mariners hope to continue this momentum into tomorrow as we have a battle of two of the best pitchers of the early season on tap as Chris Sale (1-1, 2.54 ERA) will take the hill to battle David Price (3-1, 2.17 ERA). First pitch will be at 7:10 pm.

Re: 40 Year Old Virgins - Mariners Franchise

Price outduels Sale as Royals get win

Seattle - The Royals banged out nine hits off of Chris Sale, and sixteen overall as they got a 7-2 win at Safeco Field. Sale was effective striking out eight over just six innings while only giving up three runs, but David Price was just better lasting 8.1 innings giving up just two runs before finally turning it over to the bullpen in the ninth. The Mariner's bullpen could not keep them in it, as Ryan Cook and Steve Cishek were both tagged by the Royals. Mike Moustakas, and Jorge Soler had the homers in the game doing the big damage. The two teams will conclude the series tomorrow afternoon when Felix Hernandez (1-1, 5.56 ERA) looks to get back on track against Danny Duffy (2-1, 2.63 ERA). First pitch is at 1:10 pm.

Re: 40 Year Old Virgins - Mariners Franchise

Felix sharp, bats cold as Mariner's drop series to Royals

Seattle - Felix Hernandez was on his game going seven innings striking out six, but the Mariner's bats couldn't help him out mustering just one run on four hits as the Royals got the 2-1 win over Seattle. Jorge Soler homered for Kansas City who danced around walks and errors all day as the M's couldn't get the hits with runners on base. The loss dropped Seattle to an abysmal 3-10 record at home this season, with three more to play with Houston before going back on the road. There will be a day off before play resumes Friday when James Paxton (1-0, 3.60 ERA) will face Francis Martes (2-0, 3.13 ERA). First pitch will be at 7:10 pm.

Re: 40 Year Old Virgins - Mariners Franchise

Paxton dominates Astros as Mariners get win

Seattle - James Paxton was as dominant as any Mariner pitcher has looked this year going eight innings and striking out ten, as the Mariners got a much needed 3-1 win over the Houston Astros. Jean Segura homered for the first time this season providing the boom for the Mariners, who's bats are still looking to break out, but did enough in this one to secure the win. Robinson Cano had two hits and an RBI as well. Seattle will look to get a series win at home for the first time this year tomorrow when they send Ervin Santana (1-3, 5.63 ERA) to the mound to face off against Lance McCullers (2-2, 3.14 ERA). First pitch will be at 1:10 pm.

Re: 40 Year Old Virgins - Mariners Franchise

Cruz slams Mariners to win

Seattle - Nelson Cruz smacked two home runs, including a grand slam in the fifth inning, as the Mariners got a 5-3 win over the Houston Astros. Cruz's bombs accounted for all five of Seattle's runs on the day, as it was plenty of support for Ervin Santana, who went seven innings in the win. It continued a great run of starting pitching for the Mariners recently that is starting to translate into wins, as Seattle has taken three of five now. Seattle will look for a series sweep of the Astros tomorrow when they send Cody Martin (3-1, 2.96 ERA) to the mound to face Colin McHugh (1-1, 2.67 ERA). First pitch will be at 1:10 pm.
