Re: 40 Year Old Virgins - Mariners Franchise

Phillies bullpen shutsdown Mariners in extras

Philadelphia - The Mariners only managed two hits in eight innings off of the Philadelphia bullpen, and finally couldn't hang on in the fourteenth inning as Andrew Knapp's homer finally walked it off. The Mariners held a 2-0 lead after Kyle Seager hit his tenth home run of the year, but James Paxton couldn't hang onto the lead although he pitched well into the eighth inning. The Mariners bats simply could not bail him out on this night. The M's will look to rebound tomorrow when they send Ariel Miranda (2-2, 2.48 ERA) to the mound to face Jeremy Hellickson (1-2, 5.59 ERA). That game will start with a first pitch at 10:05 am.

Re: 40 Year Old Virgins - Mariners Franchise

Cano delivers in 9th as M's avoid sweep

Philadelphia - Jeremy Hellickson baffled the Mariners for 7.1 innings, and Pat Neshek shut them down in the eighth, but closer Jeanmar Gomez continued to have his struggles this season, as Robinson Cano was able to deliver a two run blast in the ninth inning that put Seattle in front. Edwin Diaz was able to escape the ninth inning stranding Michael Saunders at third, and the Mariners earned a split in the short two game series. Ariel Miranda pitched well but walks doomed the young rookie starter and he finally had to be pulled in the sixth inning. Seattle now heads across the border to Toronto for a four game weekend series with the Blue Jays. Yovani Gallardo (2-3, 4.93 ERA) will go in the opener opposite Francisco Liriano (1-1, 5.18 ERA). First pitch is at 4:07 pm.

Re: 40 Year Old Virgins - Mariners Franchise

Mariners defeat Blue Jays 8-3

Toronto - Nelson Cruz, and Jean Segura both homered, and Kyle Seager tacked on another RBI as the Mariners chased Francisco Liriano in just two innings, and secured an 8-3 victory. Yovani Gallardo was excellent for the Mariners going 7.1 innings just giving up two runs before Nick Hagadone came in to end the game. Seattle now looks to secure at least a split in the series by sending Felix Hernandez (3-3, 4.03 ERA) to the mound against Aaron Sancez (3-1, 4.87 ERA). First pitch is at 4:07 pm.

Re: 40 Year Old Virgins - Mariners Franchise

Felix struggles as Blue Jays batter M's

Toronto - Felix Hernandez's early season struggles continued, as he was battered for six runs over just 4.1 innings, including two home runs by Jose Bautista, and the Blue Jays coasted to a 11-0 win behind a complete game three hitter by Aaron Sanchez. Seattle will look to get back on track tomorrow when they send Hisashi Iwakuma (4-3, 3.77 ERA) to the mound to face Marco Estrada (2-1, 4.11 ERA). That games first pitch is at 10:07 pm.

Re: 40 Year Old Virgins - Mariners Franchise

Cano's career day lifts Mariners to huge win

Toronto - Robinson Cano had a career day at the dish going 5-6, including a grand slam to finish with nine total RBI's as the M's hung thirteen runs on the Blue Jays in a win. Jarrod Dyson was also huge in this one going 4-4, scoring three runs and stealing two bases. Hisashi Iwakuma gave up just two earned runs, but couldn't last through the sixth inning before giving it to the bullpen, who put it away. The Mariners will look for the series win tomorrow when they send James Paxton (4-0, 2.17 ERA) to the mound to face Francisco Liriano (1-2, 6.49 ERA). The first pitch tomorrow morning will be at 10:07 am.

Re: 40 Year Old Virgins - Mariners Franchise

Zunino's 3 RBI day leads the way as Mariners get series win

Toronto - Mike Zunino had three RBi's on a double, and the rest of the lineup all chipped in with timely hitting, as the Mariners kept up their high run production with a 9-5 win. The Mariners had the game in hand most of the day, but late in the ninth the Blue Jays started to rally, helped by a Mariner error, that finally forced Scott Servais to insert Edwin Diaz to secure his fourteenth save, and the win for the M's. Who now are 23-15 on the season. Seattle will look to widen their lead in the AL West starting tomorrow night back at Safeco Field against the Oakland Athletics. The Mariners will send Ariel Miranda (2-2, 2.36 ERA) to the mound to face Andrew Triggs (1-3, 5.40 ERA). First pitch is at 7:10 pm tomorrow.

Re: 40 Year Old Virgins - Mariners Franchise

A's batter Miranda for six runs in opener

Seattle - Ariel Miranda learned the tough rookie lesson, that once there is tape on you and teams get their second looks, it is tougher to get the job done. The A's battered Miranda, who had been solid so far this year, and the M's bats only mustered five hits as the A's got a 6-2 win to kick off the series. Jesse Hahn was all Oakland needed out of the bullpen as he shut the Mariners down through the final four innings to pick up an unusal save. The two teams are back at it again tomorrow when Seattle sends Yovani Gallardo (3-3, 4.50 ERA) to the mound to go up against Raul Alcantara (3-0, 2.79 ERA). That game will start at 7:10 pm.
