Re: MLB's Newest General Manager-The Career and Legacy of Robert Osmond

Following embarrassing 4-0, 3 hit loss to Orioles in first game of Spring Training, Tigers continue rebuild via another blockbuster trade with the team that just beat them, the Orioles. Tigers trade 1B Miguel Cabrera (Age 33, 91OVR, A Potential)and RP Alex Wilson (Age 30, 76OVR, C Potential) to the Orioles for 1B Chris Davis (Age 31, 81OVR, B Potential), 1B Trey Mancini (Age 25, 74OVR, A Potential), and RP Michael Givens (Age 26, 83OVR, B Potential).

"Getting Mancini and Givens was the key to this trade. Davis was added in to offset the salaries being swapped. In Mancini we are getting a top 50 prospect who could end up being our next long-term answer at first baseball. Mancini will have the opportunity this Spring to win the everyday starting job at first base. In Givens we continue to add young pitchers with upside to our bullpen. Davis will slot in and become the team's everyday DH. Also 1B/DH Victor Martinez is the next likeliest candidate to be traded as we wish to open first base job to Mancini and DH job to Davis."-Statement from Tigers' GM Robert Osmond following the trade.

Re: MLB's Newest General Manager-The Career and Legacy of Robert Osmond

Following another embarrassing loss in game two of Spring Training, this time a 2-0 loss to the Astro, Tigers strike another trade this time with Mets. Tigers trade SS Jose Iglesias (Age 27, 83OVR, B Potential), LF Steven Moya (Age 25, 72OVR, B Potential), and CF Anthony Gose (Age 26, 70OVR, B Potential) to the Mets for SS Gavin Cecchini (Age 23, 70OVR, A Potential) and LF Brandon Nimmo (Age 24, 70OVR, A Potential).

"In Cecchini and Nimmo we have just acquired two more top 50 prospects. Them joining with Trey Mancini now gives us three top 50 prospects in which we can attempt to build our future around. More trades are expected to come. On a further note we are having difficulty finding a trading partner for 1B/DH Victor Martinez and are still currently searching for one and an acceptable trade."-Statement from Tigers' GM Robert Osmond

Tigers' GM makes statement regarding future potential trades

"We are currently attempting to trade SP Justin Verlander, SP Jordan Zimmermann, SP Anibal Sanchez, and 1B/DH Victor Martinez. However, we are finding difficulty finding a team to offer us a deal that we feel is fair for both sides, us and them. We will continue to work on trading these players throughout the rest of Spring Training and/or the regular season if necessary"-Statement from Tigers' GM Robert Osmond

Tigers' front office focused on making trades, furthering rebuild. Tigers' coaches and players, amid trades, trade rumors, and the rebuild, focus solely on winning games and preparing for regular season, look ahead to Spring Training game three versus Mets.

Re: MLB's Newest General Manager-The Career and Legacy of Robert Osmond

Tigers embarrassed yet again in 1-9 loss against the Mets, but, they finally manage to score first run of Spring Training. GM Robert Osmond makes statement regarding state of the team.

"Scoring only one run in three games is completely unacceptable, as is giving up fifteen runs in three games time. We understand that while going through a rebuild such as we are undertaking, there will be struggles and difficulty but getting outscored 15-1 in three games time is unacceptable as is the .135 team batting average and 5.19 team earned run average. Should the offensive and pitching struggles continue changes could be made to the coaching staff. We will give hitting coach, Mike Sherak, and pitching coach, Eli Simmons, every opportunity to turn things around but if they can't, then, changes will have to be made. Finally, we are still engaging in trade talks with several teams around league regarding some of other players."-Statement from Tigers' GM Robert Osmond
