Re: Good Morning San Diego: Padres Franchise (MLB the Show 17)
May 2017 Review In the month of May the Padres go 12-16 making their overall record 20-36 and still sits them in last places in the NLW 14.5 games back of the leading LA Dodgers. The team still sits last in AVG in the league with a .225 team average, last in runs with 168 and 3rd last in ERA with a team 4.65. Though their was a bright side of May as pitcher Carter Capps returned to the team but only for Craig Stammen to go down with a dislocated shoulder. We also sign OF free agent Wladimer Balentien to a 2yr/1.2M contract to start as our everyday RF. This came as an result of Hunter Renfroe struggling with the bat and in his time so far Wladimer has batted .275 with 2 HR’s and 10 RBI’s in 69 AB’s. In other news Padres GM Preller has shown interest in Italian free agent Aelx Liddi and Japanese infielder Ryosuke Kikuchi. Preller says he wants to look to bring players in from around the world to spread the Padres franchise names. Padres Player of the Month: RF Wladimir Balentien In the month of May the Padres struggled throughout the lineup and pitching rotation. Though they did have one shimmer of good as recently signed Wladimer Balentien played well batting .275 with 2 HR’s, 10 RBI’s in 69 AB’s. Wladimir has also been very reliable in RF with 40 putouts, 1 assist and only 1 error.

Re: Good Morning San Diego: Padres Franchise (MLB the Show 17)
May 2017 Review In the month of June the Padres finished 10-15 which has been the best month of the season so far. The Padres lineup has been hitting better but the pitching is still struggling to get anything going. The Padres currently sit at the bottom of the NL West and are 24 games back of the division leading Dodgers who have a 4.5 game lead of the Giants. Padres Player of the Month: 3B Ryan Schimpf
Spoiler
After struggling to hit over .200 in the start of the month Schimpf has brought some life to this lineup. He has lifted his average to .231 and in the month of June he's batted .421 with 2 HR's and 12 RBI's batting in the #4 spot.
Spoiler
P Tyrell Jenkins
In the month of June Jenkins has dominated Triple-A as a starting pitcher. He posted a 0.96 ERA and punching out 24 batters in 28 innings and shown the club he may have what it takes in the MLB. P Cal Quantrill Another starter that dominated the month of June with a 1.17 ERA in 38.1 and had 31 strikeouts in Double-A. This was good enough to have Cal get a promotion to Triple-A and to earn a spot in the bullpen. LF Hunter Renfroe After being optioned down to Triple-A after struggling the in the MLB he caught fire. He had an average of .305 in 82 AB’s and drove in 13 runs. Though Renfroe would tear a calf doing a game and will keep him out of action for 1-2 months.
Spoiler
Round 1: LF Jesus Anaya , L/R, 19, Dominican Republic, MLB ETA: 2018, MLB Comp: Bryce Harper
A complete player we got in Anaya as he has the speed, contact, arm and power. Anaya 5’7 is a shooter man and weighs in at 191. Though if he is able to put some more weight in muscle and grow a bit he can get more power in his bat. Round 2: P Michael Wilcox, R/R, 18, Boston College, MLB ETA: 2020, MLB Comp: Yordano Ventura A pitcher that most likely will fit into a starting rotation as he has the stamina to go the full game. He also has the velocity to throw the ball past batters and hit triple digits on the guns. Though he will have control problem and that may be his down fall and giving up the homerun ball will be his struggle. Though he has five pitches in a 4 seam, changeup, running fastball, sinker and curveball. Round 3: C Jose Zavala, R/R 19, Mexico, MLB ETA: 2021, MLB Comp: Yadier Molina Zavala is a very good defensive catcher but lacks a lot in the hitting side of the game. Though if he can learn to get the bat on the ball he can surly make his way into the future of this Padres team. Round 4: P Brian Kern, S/R, 22, Florida State University, MLB ETA: 2021, MLB Comp: Andrew Miler Kern stands at 6’5 and has very good velocity but his age already being 22 may hurt his chance of developing as much as some of the younger guys can. Though if he can impress early in the next season he may get the call up. Round 5: IF Reid Hoffman: S/R, 18, Texas A&M, MLB ETA: ??? An average player in the draft that will be mostly organizational depth in the team. Round 6: P Andres Alonso, R/R, 20, Colombia, MLB ETA: ??? Round 7: P Aiden Bayliss: unsigned Transactions 6/12 Activated LF Alex Dickerson from 60-Day DL and assigned to Triple-A El Paso 6/16 Activated P Zach Lee from 60-Day DL and optioned to Triple-A El Paso 6/19 Activated P Robbie Erlin from 60-Day DL and assigned him to MLB 6/19 Removed P Buddy Bauman from 40-Man roster 6/21 Padres trade P Ryan Butcher and Cash to Orioles for C Austin Wynns and SS Ryan Mountcastle 6/21 Assign C Austin Wynns to Double-A San Antonio and SS Ryan Mountcastle to Double-A San Antonio 6/25 Add P Carter Capps to 10-Day DL with pulled hamstring 6/26 Recall P/C Christian Bethancourt from Triple-A El Paso 6/28 Option CF Allen Cordoba to Triple-A El Paso 6/28 Recall LF Alex Dickerson from Triple-A El Paso
