Good Morning San Diego: Padres Franchise (MLB the Show 17)

Introduction
After a disappointing end to my previous Franchise mode with the Reds I have decided to stay in the National League again for another Franchise. I feel like with doing a National League team you are forced to create a better overall roster including your bench so you can use the double switch as well. So I’ve decided to go with the San Diego Padres a team that has still not one a World Series since their creation in 1969 and I’m looking to change that as soon as possible. Even though the Padres have had greats like Tony Gwynn, Dave Winfield and Trevor Hoffman they were unable to win a World Series with the Padres. This San Diego team has some talent that can escalate this team to a power house in the MLB. Talent like Manuel Margot, Hunter Renfroe, Will Myers and Anderson Espinoza. I am hoping veterans like Erick Aybar, Jared Weaver and Clayton Richard can lead this team with their veteran presence. And I this will allow Margot, Renfroe, Myers and Espinoza to lead this team and guide others to make this team one of the best team in baseball in the future. My plan this season is to develop some of the young Padres prospects and not to rush any of them to the MLB and hinder their development. This rebuilding process is most likely going to take a few years as we develop our youngsters and build through the MLB draft system. The Padres this season are going to have a high pick and with this year’s draft going to look to snag some young pitchers to lead our rotation and bullpen in the future. The squad we have this season I’m looking to at least post a 61-101 record.

Re: Good Morning San Diego: Padres Franchise (MLB the Show 17)

Opening Day 2017

The San Diego Padres have announced that Jared Weaver will start opening day and his 8th in his career. Though it will be his first in San Diego after leaving his hometown and hometown team Los Angeles Angels. Weaver on Opening Day holds a record of 3-3 and this year will be facing off against the Dodgers and their Ace Clayton Kershaw who holds a record of 4-0 and has faced the Padres in 3 of 6 of his opening day matchups. The Padres will be on the road for Opening Day at Dodger Stadium and will be wearing the Alternate Road jerseys while the Dodgers wear the classic whites. A rainy day in LA while the Dodger host the Padres with the lineups as follow Padres starting lineup: CF Margot, 2B Solarte, 1B Myers, RF Renfroe, LF Jankowski, SS Aybar, 3B Schimpf, C Austin Hedges, P Weaver. While the Dodgers lineup is: RF Puig, 3B Turner, SS Seager, LF Gutierrez, 1B Gonzalez, CF Pederson, C Grandal, 2B Forsythe, P Kershaw. The final score would be 1-6 to the Dodgers and Weaver would struggle this game giving up 4 ER with 3 homeruns given up while Kershaw would dominate with 11 k’s and one ER. The Dodgers power would show with 5 homeruns with 1 from Grandal, 1 from Gutierrez and 3 from Joc Pederosn. While Ryan Schimpf would get the only RBI for the Padres and Quackenbush would pitch 2 innings and give up 2 ER, Cosart and Butcher would finish the last two innings with no runs given up. As Kershaw would get the win and Weaver the lose

Re: Good Morning San Diego: Padres Franchise (MLB the Show 17)

Padres GM A.J. Preller in an interview stated that he will be shopping his team this season and looking to make some moves. Though it’s also to be noted that he is being watched by the team owners as they may be about done with all the moves he’s made during his tenure especially when he acquired Matt Kemp, Craig Kimbrel, Justin Upton and signed James Shields and the Padres still struggled. Preller stated that he has a few players on his shortlist of players he is wanting to trade for but stated that he will keep those undisclosed until he makes a deal so nothing among the team changes.

Manager Andy Green stated:
“I’ve heard nothing about any trades or any deals that have been made. I’m here to win games for this team and nothing else. If we do make any deals then our team will adapt and continue to do our best to win games.”

Re: Good Morning San Diego: Padres Franchise (MLB the Show 17)

April 2017 Review
In the month of April the Padres have struggled through but it’s no surprise as this team wasn’t expected to contend or push for the postseason. They finish April with a record of 8-19 and stand in last place of the National League East and are 10 games back of the first place Arizona Diamondbacks.

Padres Player of the Month: CF Manuel Margot
In the first month of the season and in his rookie season Manuel Margot is awarded as the Padres player of the month for April. He’s batting .278 in the leadoff spot with 4 homeruns and 8 runs batted in. He has also snagged 2 stolen bases but has been caught 3 times. He’s also has done well in CF playing every day so far this season getting 39 putouts with 0 errors and being very reliable in the outfield in 193 innings in Center.

Re: Good Morning San Diego: Padres Franchise (MLB the Show 17)

I'm also giving the Padres a run. Wanted to take the worst NL team with no titles.

I fully expect to have to resort to calling up Anderson Espinoza by the end of June. Rotation might be brutal.

I do like the up the middle of Solarte at second and Margot in center.

Actually going to shift Solarte to third and have Spangenberg play second against LHP. Schimpf is bad vs lefties per his ratings so he'll sit on those days, at least to start the game.
