Princeton Blows Past Harvard to Earn 13th Win of the Season

2/22/08 @ Harvard (1-23)

Final: 72-58

Pretty much everybody picked Princeton in this one. Harvard was 1-23 and 0-8 in Ivy League play whereas Princeton was 12-10 and 5-2 in conference. As expected, Princeton led at the half by a score of 35-29 and went on to outscore Harvard by eight points in the second half to score a 14 point win giving the Princeton Tigers their 13th win of the season. The main key to the game was turnovers, where Princeton only turned the ball over six times to Harvard's 13. "We took good care of the ball and played a good ball game," Coach Frizzell commented. "We didn't look past Harvard even though they were 1-23, because we know these type of games can turn out to be trap games. We played well and happily earned the victory." Lincoln Gunn came off the bench to once again step it up to another level as he scored 20 points in the victory. "Lincoln has been playing great," commented Coach Frizzell. "If he can develop some consistency in his game, he can be quite a force in future years, as he is only a sophomore."

Princeton Key Players
M. Schoeder - 9 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists, 3 steals
K. Koncz - 14 points, 5 rebounds
L. Gunn - 20 points, 4 rebounds, 5/9 3pt. FG

Harvard Key Players
T. Carey - 10 points, 5 rebounds
E. Harris - 15 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals

Princeton improves to 13-10 (6-2) after the win. They will face off against Dartmouth (11-11) tomorrow.

Princeton Wins Huge Road Game at Dartmouth With Tough Defense

2/23/08 @ Dartmouth (11-11)

Final: 60-44

From the opening tip-off, Princeton's defense was intensely stubborn. Princeton took an early lead because of the great defense, but their offense would stutter as they would only hold a slim three point edge at halftime with the score at 26-23. In the second half, it was more of the same, as Princeton continued to play phenomenal defense as the Tigers pulled away from the Big Green for the huge 16 point win. Princeton's defense held Dartmouth to only 37% shooting, 23% from three point range, and also forced 17 turnovers. "We once again played great defense," commented Coach Frizzell. "I think that has been the key to our late winning streak is that we have been sound on the defensive end, which has let us win more ballgames, since our offense is always pretty good. If we continue to do this, we will be in very good position to win the Ivy League." The only Princeton player to go into double figures was Michael Strittmatter, who scored 16 points in the game. Princeton's star shooting guard, Kyle Koncz, was defended well in the game as he only scored seven points off of just 2/11 shooting and 0/3 from downtown. "They defended me really well," Koncz explained. "I was just out of sync as well. I was left wide open for a couple of threes which I missed. Usually I would make those, but tonight I was just off, I guess."

Princeton Key Players
M. Strittmatter - 16 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals
Z. Woolridge - 9 points, 12 rebounds
L. Gunn - 9 points, 2 rebounds, 4 steals

Dartmouth Key Players
D. Mosley - 10 points
M. Chisick - 10 points, 10 rebounds

Princeton improves to 14-10 (7-2). They will face Brown (8-16) next Friday, February 29th, in their next game.
