Reggie Jackson on a hot seat out of the Detroit?
17 November, 2016 | by Steve Vasquez
It's barely the second half of November and numerous trade rumours are out in the wild. Truly a great time to be a news reporter, isn't it?

Unconfirmed sources have told Bleacher Report that a Point Guard from Detroit Pistons - Reggie Jackson might be heading out of the Motor Town amidst discussions about his wonky knee and whether he is the right fit for the core of Pistons organization.

Jackson is averaging 13 points and 9 assists in 12 games of the season. His production in the scoring column is already taken over by Drummond, Harris and Caldwell-Pope. His assist totals are great, he's just 1 shy from setting up a double-double for himself.

Last season Jackson scored a respectable 19 points and 7 assists and it seems that he has changed his explosive, slashing and attacking game to a more pass oriented. The same unconfirmed source is saying that the reason for trade consideration is Jackson's poor knee, which has seemingly affected his explosiveness and scoring ability.

By watching Detroit this year, we definitely don't see Reggie's quick shuffles to the basket or rapid changes of direction, which could confirm the unsettling rumors and explain why the team which should have a winning record is currently 5 - 7.

If the assumption is correct and Reggie indeed has a bad knee, then which team would be the most suitable landing spot for him? We truly don't know and now it's up to a duo of Van Gundy and Bower to start making calls. Only time will tell.

Drummond puts up a career high, downs Cavs in an unlikely upset

Making a trade just a day before and bringing Elfrid Payton in obviously did not hurt team chemistry for Pistons as they were playing a great uptempo basketball for nearly whole game.

Drummond scored a career high of 37 points and 20 boards to go together with that. Newly acquired Payton managed to provide major impact to the game by putting up a double double with 24 points and 13 assists. Van Gundy commended Elfrid Payton after the game in the press conference.
"What can I say? The kid is great! Exactly what we wanted to see from him. He played great defense against one of the top guards in this league. I would want to take most of the praise here for making this move, but I really can't take it away from Elfrid, he was on fire tonight and we expect him to flourish here in Detroit."
Indeed, Payton was pestering Kyrie Irving for most of the game and most of the scoring came only when Payton switched off Kyrie or was on the bench taking a breather. It is clear as day that Payton fits in the Detroit's system and it seems that he has no trouble adapting to the new surroundings.

Liking that Reggie Jackson trade; Payton is a player I like, he just lacks a consistent outside shot, but maybe SVG can teach him that. Seems like he's fitting in nicely -- Jeff Green isn't a bad pickup either, will be a nice bench scorer, a decent combo 3/4 to stretch the floor for the second unit.

League Recap - November 2016
November 21, 2016 | by Hang Time
__________________________________________________
First month of the fresh season is almost over and we have gathered top 5 stories which were the most impactful over the course of November.

1. Reggie Jackson to Orlando. Stan Van Gundy was the first one to pop the cherry of this season's trade carousel. Elfrid Payton and Jeff Green found a new home in Detroit, however Green's contract is expiring, so it's probably a good idea to leave the bags packed, just in case. Payton showed up big time in the first two games in Pistons' jersey. One fluke and that is against the strong Rockets team.
Jackson had a similar outing and managed to surprise many in his first game in Orlando, however 1-16 shooting in his second one has many fans wondering whether the move was right. I am sure Van Gundy and Bower are very happy for the acquisition.
Unfortunately, Detroit has yet to find their winning combination and currently struggles to a 3rd worst record in the East.

2. Okafor to Pacers. Unfortunate news hit the Pacers' camp during November as we learned that Myles Turner had a season ending injury and unfortunately will have to miss this year with a ruptured achilles. Pacers were quick to pull the trigger and offer Lavoy Allen and a top 5 protected 1st rounder to 76ers for Jahlil Okafor, who struggles to find his rhytm behind Embiid (who by all means will be Rookie of the Year). In addition we have off-court issues with Okafor, which did not stop Pacers offering a generous first round pick. It's definitely win-now time in Indiana.

3. Nets taking a chance on Sullinger. Sullinger started this season as a free agent, however it took only 21 day for teams to show interest in him and he inked a hefty 2 year deal with Brooklyn Nets. Once highely regarded player, will probably have to struggle alongside Brook Lopez in the rebuilding Nets. However, their record this season is rather surprising and they are holding on to the 10th seat in the East. Can Sullinger solidify his position as an impactful center? Tenure with Nets will definitely show it.

4. Russell Bestbrook, I mean Westbrook. You can call him the man, the myth or the legend. Westbrook is averaging a triple double already with Thunder propelling them to a great start in the young season with 11-3. This comes as a large surprise after Durant's departure to Golden State this summer. It seems that "the decision" propelled Russell to new heights and it seems that Thunder will rely heavily on his production to have a strong season.

5. Joel Embiid, you mean the rookie? Joel Embiid has entered the NBA already a few seasons ago, but he's still a rookie - crazy right? The rook is averaging an amazing 23 point and 8 board per game stat line, complementing it with... wait for it... 3.5 blocks per game. It's scary to imagine what the Philly will be able to do in a few years, but one thing for sure - race for the ROTY will be nowhere close if Embiid can continue producing at the rate of an NBA star.

Yes, he feels great for me. I enjoy playing with him in the games I actually play and he doesn't seem to be completely worthless in simmed games as well. The record at the moment for me is 6-9 and this opens more need for change in the roster, which is great in terms of my rebuild.

Carmelo leaves New York for Clippers in a surprising trade
December 03, 2016 | by NBA News
__________________________________________________
League Office has confirmed that a 3 team trade involving Carmelo Anthony (NYK), Paul Pierce (LAC) and Jamal Crawford (LAC) has been executed late in the evening of 3rd December.
  • Knicks send Carmelo Anthony and Sasha Vujacic to Los Angeles Clippers.
  • Clippers send Jamal Crawford and Wesley Johnson to New York Knicks and Paul Pierce to Boston Celtics.
  • Boston Celtics send Jordan Mickey to Los Angeles Clippers.
  • 3 additional 2nd round picks and cash considerations are distributed between New York and Boston.
New York Knicks have started this season in an unsettling manner with the 2nd worst record in the East and in the league. Phil Jackson has voiced his opinion regarding Anthony multiple times during the start of the season, however Melo did not budge and was rather calm. It appears that he would have agreed to waive his no-trade-clause only if he would be traded to a legitimate contender. Los Angeles Clippers are currently battling in the middle of Western conference, but are still considered a major contender.

Jamal Crawford returns to New York together with Wesley Johnson to provide additional assistance in, now for certain, rebuilding Knicks team.

It is a puzzling move that leaves many of New York fans flabberghasted and social media has been calling for #TradePhil. We hope to see what the mastermind of this move has planned, because currently Carmelo has been sent away with nearly no returns.

Major thing to note - Crawford hasn't confirmed whether he's going to play next season or not. If he does then 15 mil contract of Crawford is a huge hit for a potential FA signing this off-season.
