Re: SHOCK THE WORLD - A Wichita State Dynasty (Ch2k8)
ECU leaves AAC, spot for Shockers?
East Carolina announced today that they would be leaving the American Conference to go to the Atlantic 10 today. The Pirates have finished near last ever season in the AAC, and are reportedly making the move to try and be more competitive. The question for Shocker fans - will the AAC try to replace ECU and remain at 11 teams or stay with 10? If they replace ECU, WSU would likely be a candidate. However, with Wichita State losing Fred VanVleet and Ron Baker this year, there are questions of how they will bounce back.

WSU completes historic move to AAC
Wichita State AD Darron Boatright announced today that Wichita State will move to the American Athletic Conference beginning in the '16-'17 season. The Shockers lost 2 of their best ever players last year, however they bring in many talents including redshirt freshman Landry Shamet to try and replace them. It will be interesting to see how WSU competes in the new conference, as they will begin play next year.

Shockers ranked #21 in preseason poll
Wichita State was ranked #21 in the recently released AP Top 25 poll. The voters had high praise for the Shockers who lost 2 great seniors in Fred VanVleet and Ron Baker last season. Kansas led the field at #1, followed by Duke and Kentucky. UCLA, lead by Lonzo Ball, came in at #12. It's unclear what Wichita State's schedule will look like, however it is very likely they play at least a few of these teams.

Highlights include a battle with rival #22 Creighton in Omaha, a neutral site game vs #1 Kansas, and participating in the Polar Bear Tip-Off Classic. It will be on of the top schedules in the country, and a very challenging one for the inexperienced Shockers.
