The Ultimate NCAA Tournament Bracket of the 2000s
I was wondering if anyone would be interested in participating in this. I think it could help get some discussion going on an otherwise dead board in the middle of summer.
I put together a 68 team bracket of every Final Four Team in the millennium. So every Final Four team from 2001 to 2017. I made it into 4 regions ( Coach K Region, Williams Region, Calhoun Region and Donovan Region). The 4 with the most titles in the 2000s.
I tried to come up with the easiest way to seed so I did the following:
1. The 17 National Champions were the 1st 17 seeds in the tournament.
2. Then I sorted them by their tournament seed that year.
3. Then I took a guess on what 1 seed champion was better, 2 seed champion, etc to rank them 1 to 17 for the bracket.
4. I repeated the same process for the other 51 Final Four teams. So the ones in the play in games were the teams who had the lowest seeds ( 11 seed Syracuse, VCU, etc).
If enough people are interested, I thought it could be a fun thing to vote on and see what teams make the Final Four and who we ultimately deem the best team of the millennium. We could figure out a voting deadline for matchups, etc.
I'll post one of the regions in the next post so we can see how it looks.
