Can anything be done about FIFA matchmaking and lag?

I primarily play seasons mode and I'd guess that about 30% of my games have severe lagging or stuttering. Mostly it's that thing where it hiccups for about 1 second every 5-10 seconds.

Last night I quit out of 5 laggy games just to play 2 smooth ones. Normally, it's not that bad but it shouldn't ever be THAT bad. Other games play fine and FIFA is smooth on drop in games and clubs, but that 1v1 connection is seasons is iffy at best.

I hope this is much improved for 18.

I have never had success with anything online in FIFA. I pretty much just avoid it.
