Re: Worth the late buy?

Sold mine day 2 for a few dollars off full price, and my friend just finally sold his. I'd say probably not.

It's not perfect.. but what console sports game is?

I played two full seasons and now I'm playing playoff mode. With some slider tweaks, it plays a good game of hockey, IMHO of course.

Re: Worth the late buy?

I would say no also.....each time i watch a real NHL game and head over to EA NHL to get my hockey fix, I am constantly let down by the lack of realism and play variety

Not to mention the stars do no seperate themselves on the ice and demonstrate individualism and different play styles

It's like ice ping pong with less control....There's no real ebb and flow like in real hockey

I think 2K did a better job of creating the NHL realism way back in the 2K series 2K3, 2K5, 2K7, and 2K8

I'm jumping on the no bandwagon as well, to add some, if the playoffs have you excited you will be disappointed since there is NO playoff atmosphere at all in this game. Last gen did a much better job with presentation and atmosphere. As others have said, NHL 17 is dull and repetitive, everyone team and player plays the same. And if you are in to be a gm you will feel like you are completely cut off from the rest of the league, menus are terrible, can't even look at scores in other games on the schedule.

Re: Worth the late buy?

I really think they need to focus on these few things for Franchise next year:

Add the ability to PLAY any teams games (also be able to have a multi controlled franchise mode)

Add badges/or key attributes for certain players to give them distinction and add variety to the different players

Add alot more variety to the animations in the game to have players twisting/contorting/stumbling/hustling/scrappy shoving and fighting for positioning in front of the net.

Add a much better stick control system on defense to allow players to move the stick independently around like sweeping in the NHL 2K series did

Also work on the sense of overall control and positioning. The game does a terrible job of giving you control. I always feel like Im switching my players to bring them back in the play as they always are out of position and always to quick to leave the zone when the puck is loose
