Add me to the list of people who immediately thought an arcade like angle with that opening monologue. I'm guessing EA finally decided that after lack luster sales and a die hard community they just can't or won't please (myself included) that it's time to try and lure in a different type of gamer.

My thoughts.. and yet I'll still buy it because I love hockey more than any other sport by a HUGE margin.

Boo. If it's arcadey, I have more reason to stay away.

I don't even understand this direction (if it is the direction). When was the game a full simulation?

Definitely disappointing. Hopefully EA proves me wrong this year, but I think getting hyped up for NHL to release every year and then getting a game with the same problems and same features is getting a bit old... But hey, at least they have mouth guards hanging out of a player's mouth now!

I think a movie back to a slightly more arcade-y style of play could be what this series needs. As of now, it's stuck in the mud.
