    NHL 19- Frostbite Engine

Will NHL 19 be getting the Frostbite Engine treatment next year, when it comes out?

It may have frostbite but i wouldn't expect big things from it.

Yeah, if it has frostbite, there won't be any other upgrades to the game unfortunately.

Might be worse than that. Could be a stripped down lazy attempt at the game... Oh wait lol

Joking aside, that was the case with NHL15. It not only took two years to get out on the Next-Gen consoles, but it came out missing the majority of things that NHL15 on last-gen had.

I worry about EA moving forward with this series. They've shown no real desire to make big changes outside of HUT and online...

If they're going to make the switch, I'd much rather them take a year off, perfect it (or at least optimize it) and then come back with NHL 20.

They had several spots open for hire on the NHL team recently. I suspect they're adding bodies to help the transition.

                    Re: NHL 19- Frostbite Engine

Most likely, but usually when they do this, they have already started it last year. This is the way it's usually done, a portion of the dev team most likely began on this before NHL 17 was even released, while the rest worked on NHL 18 (which explains a lot, if you think about it). It's not like they did NHL 18 and will begin on 19, it's not how it works. They are no doubt knee deep in NHL 19 using Frostbite and have been for at least a year, if not two.

The other good news is, most of the stuff from the other games (Fifa, Madden, etc) will be able to be easily brought over to NHL since it uses the same code base (similar to how engines work on the PC, Unreal Engine, Quake Engine, they have very deep and developer friendly tools and importing abilities). So I expect a massive upgrade to NHL 19, in all facets of the game.
