Create helmetless players

It's such a shame we can't create players without helmets. With many helmetless legends missing from the game like Bobby Orr, Bobby Hull, Phil Esposito, Guy Lafleur etc it sucks we can't create them accurately. Imagine the vintage rosters we could create if we could just get this option added, along with allowing vintage goalie masks for created goalies. There's a thread over at EA NHL forums with this request. If you want this option added to the game, please head over to the thread linked below and make a comment. The more people adding to it the more likely EA will listen. In November it was the top thread in the Game suggestions section. Thanks!

Hi im a long time NHL game player and just seen this Forum.

I also agree that we NEED to be able to create players without helmets for offline modes like Season and Franchise.
There's so many alumni players added to the game and it would be nice to be able to create them accurately with proper equipment.
I hope this option gets added by NHL 23.
With Roster Sharing now available many players like to use older rosters and adding this creation option would enhance this experience.

Some Alumni like Bobby Orr will never allow their likness to be in the game so of we could just create him properly without a helmet then it wouldn't matter.

Another fun option for offline creating is too allow more props on player face; glasses, black eyes, teeth missing etc. Things like that to just make the game more fun.
How fun would it be to have the guys from the movie SlapShot created accurately in NHL 22 Or NHL 23.

On this topic I would request if we could take a picture of our created player and add that to their player profile pic? Gets annoying when there's always that blank grey face for created players.

Could not agree more. They previously had the 70's type goalie masks available but removed them several years ago. There also was a work around to remove helmets but that hasn't worked in the last two years. Seems like such easy things to add???

I couldn't agree more! For the last 3 years I've posted a request for helmetless create a player ability only to be disappointed each year. It's so frustrating when we see players within the game who aren't wearing helmets on the Alumni Legends teams. They've even included goalies with no helmets or face masks. There was a glitch before NHL 22 that would enable the helmetless player option so there isn't some magical thing they have to do nor is there some NHL rule re: prohibiting it. Otherwise the helmetless players wouldn't be in the game as is! It's a fantasy simulation so nobody is getting hurt. We need vintage goalie masks too!! It's so frustrating to see fans wearing the masks with logos that we can't even add to our created goalies! I'm starting to feel like EA is playing a cruel joke on us all. I know one thing for certain, if 2K was still making NHL games, these posts wouldn't exist because they'd have done it years ago in order to remain competitive. Are you listening 2K? Come back! Please!!

Guy Lafleur is already in the game.For years he's been in the game.

He's not in NHL 22.

The game is much improved but do they ever think things out ? Stop removing things like vintage goalie masks and older gear or dont waste time add stars of the helmetless era . So why even try to create incredible old time hockey . They need to do roster share like mlb the sham where you can DL individuals. Well at least it's a start and I can do some 1990s era season , we will see .

That would be fun also. The creating helmetless players would give us the ability to make players from the formation of the NHL aswell
