How do u hold someone on the ground?

Seems like I take someone to the ground and it's just click on L3 and he's up. He gets me on the ground and I'm taking elbows and fists to the face trying to get up or get into full guard or I just can't get him off me. How is he holding me down? What are all the aspects involved with that? Thanks.

r2 and right stick down to deny a get up. r2 and right stick left to deny a transition to the defenders left, R2 and right stick right to deny a transition to the defenders right, Defender does not mean top por bottom postion, only means the person that wants to stop the transition.

I can keep people on the ground for entire rounds. Guess that's why I get so many quitters... No matter who I pick.

How do you block the sweep from half guard to mount?

There is no sweep from half, only full. But to block the full guard sweep, like any other transition, r2 and right stick the direction they move, righr or left.

Thanks Matt, yes I was referring to full guard. I think my problem is I have a tendency to block that sweep the wrong direction.

No Problem, depending on ratings, you have bigger and smaller windows to defend depending on who has the advantage, but you can take a quick look at which way they are moving, then react and shut it down, but If they have high passing and you have low control, you aren't gonna have much time to react.

There are always ways to get off the ground people just aren't doing it right IMO.

can explain how you decipher the left right trasition block. Instead of telling us how sweet you are at this game

I find if I dont guess the right way before they even go for a transition I wont get it

Honestly, just practice. Instead of panicing on the ground, watch when they move the animations are different when they move left or right. I can't stop every one, but I can keep my eye on the way they move. Now I might be right and just react too late. To me the hardest one to read is the side control sweep, bucause they are moving inside, but looks like they are miving outside.
