So Discord users constantly commenting but this site is near dead
Why is there little to no interest after the latest patch on the forum yet Discord never seems to stop tweeting and posting comments so why bother here we may as well all move over to Discord.Tags: None -
Re: So Discord users constantly commenting but this site is near dead
I find it funny, because it's the total opposite. Everyone on the Discord constantly pokes fun at the absolute inability of people on this forum to take their blinders off. The community killed this site and moved it to Discord.Comment

Re: So Discord users constantly commenting but this site is near dead
Message boards have been on the decline for years now across all kinds of communities. Games, music, sports, you name it. Most people have moved on to Twitter, Reddit, Discord, or even (shudder) Facebook.
Don't get me wrong, I like message boards. Been using them since I was a kid in the late 90's. But at this point they're basically a pre-social media relic.Comment

While true, they're still often a far better vehicle for meaningful and organized discussion. Disc is active, and I jump in to answer questions and give tips often enough, but I don't have the kind of in-depth talks there that I have had here.
Long posts don't get read, and conversations are lost in chaos. Forums like this are still a valuable tool in my mind.Comment

But that’s not the case for the other games on this site. The Madden/2k/The Show forums are just as alive as they always have been here.
It has more to do with this part of the community and their behavior over the past few years (justified or not). I’ve stopped regularly posting here but the discord has nothing to do with it.

Re: So Discord users constantly commenting but this site is near dead
One thing that probably hurt the forums is that a lot of the contributive members became GameChangers and they have their own fancy forums where they can speak to devs more directly so there's less of an incentive to post here.¯\_(ツ)_/¯Comment

Browsing thro the forum, is pretty obvious that this forum is a place for cults who only wish to carter the UFC game experience to their own chessy play style so gameplay balance and quality control can be thrown out of the windows. and they got exactly what they wanted, so grats.
reddit users view this game overwhelmly unfavorable, and official UFC 4 forum ban anyone who has different opinions, so even less users there. and those few left commenting here? lol! the typical "da gam iz fine brah" dudes.Comment

Re: So Discord users constantly commenting but this site is near dead
As someone who has run multiple forums and been part of them non stop for many years, I can definitely say that forums are a dying platform. I think it's a shame because I love forums, and the in depth discussions made possible by forums are far superior to that of Discord.
However, platforms such as discord are much more convenient for most people, and I also believe that society has largely shifted in its attitudes. People like instant messaging as opposed to emails for a reason. People are obsessed with instant gratification and responses. People hate to wait these days. And on a forum, everything moves much slower than it does in a chat room of sorts.
It's good to see that some forums are still thriving. But overall, it's hard to argue that forums haven't been slowly dying off for a good many years now, with more people favouring platforms such as Discord or even Facebook.
It also doesn't help when specific communities are a **** show. This one isn't exactly great. That only contributes to the forum aspect of the community dying faster. It's way easier to split into a bunch of little cliques in different Discord servers than it is to do the same thing on a forum.
In my experience, people are also more inclined to offer up opinions or just generally engage in a chat room like discord than they are on a forum. It's kinda like the difference between having a casual conversation with someone versus asking them to prepare and present a 5 minute argument on a specific subject. Most people would rather just chit chat and generally discuss things rather than write out long posts.Comment

I'd disagree with this. The vast majority of people who were posting on these boards wanted more of an authentic "sim" experience building off UFC 3's high points. Instead, many of us thought the game took a big step back in a lot of ways, and some didn't even bother with a purchase, myself included.Browsing thro the forum, is pretty obvious that this forum is a place for cults who only wish to carter the UFC game experience to their own chessy play style so gameplay balance and quality control can be thrown out of the windows. and they got exactly what they wanted, so grats.

It only makes sense that the bulk of the people still actively commentating on the game are the ones who are actually playing it and trying to get the most out of their current experience. But for the most part, the bulk of the OS fanbase was not in favor of UFC 4's direction, and before tapping out entirely on it, had been quite critical.Comment

OS seems to be the only place dead. Discord, reddit, official ea forums all are more active.
This used to the main hub with access to the devs. Now devs post less and the regulars are mostly gone.Comment

Well, that's the exact problem with game's direction, this Dev team doesn't have a firm vision of the gameplay balance of their own and aren't confident in their own system of the game but choose to make adjustment according to simple minded fools who asking only for what they wanted without think about the consequence and balance on meta scale.
Ironically, these fools always get what they wanted and ruin the balance vastly further. Funny enough, after the adjustment, this UFC team ended up pissed off both requester and their original player base. The meta score went down from 3.5 to 1.5 during the patch period.
I remember it's either in 2nd or 3rd patch, EA removed defense gauge by 100% after a few airheads on this board complained about "bla!! too much defense! guard is overpowered!!" and now we have it, a jab & stright take off 80% guade to open doors to all kind exploits.
Not saying every posting member here are a cult member, but most threads here are "giv me dis!! giv me da" typeComment

Very active? yes, only because most players there are pissed off players who view this game overwhelmly unfavorable. Try say something nice about UFC 4 on reddit and see what happens
The toxic discord & OS are the places where EA's Dev team got their "genius" patch ideas that degenerate their meta score from 3.5/10 to 1.5/10Comment
