Playable with default roster?

Seems a big complaint is with the DB AI in this game so I'm just curious if you were to pick up the game and use the default rosters, what would you need to tweak, slider-wise to get the best results from the game ... or is it just not worth it until I get what I need for updated rosters?

With the default rosters you can get a pretty decent game, IMO. I used the Bill Harris Sliders that are posted in the slider section and then made a few tweaks here and there to better match my skill and style, and it plays pretty well. It isn't nearly as polished as APF gameplay wise, but it can be a fun game without too many wtf moments with just some slider tweaks.

Those sliders you recommended are good, Jackal. I had to bump up Hum tackling, though. I couldn't bring anyone down with it at zero.

Do you leave coverage at default or do you bump that up, too?

If you're talking about Bill's sliders, I personally bump up the CPU coverage by 2, and bump Human coverage down by 2.

Glad you picked up the game and are enjoying it. I think it's the best hands down the best sports game value today...99 cents for a game this good is just ridiculous.

Off the top of my head, the sliders I've used, which I based off of Bill's are:

Passing: 0/40
Running: 15/40
Catching: 40/40
Blocking: 20/40
Coverage: 4/30
Tackling: 0/40
Pursuit: 2/8
Fatigue: 15/15
Injury: 20
Fumble: 20
Int: 0

I'm still tweaking them to play just right, but I've got to say that Bill's sliders saved this game for me. Out of the box this game is a mess, but it seems that's often the case with sports games.

I guess I really need to practice my D because I just can't seem to bring anyone down with the tackle slider at 0. Guys break 3-4 tackles a play on me.

Other than that the sliders have a great feel to them. I tried playing on default Legend but man, there was a lot of funky stuff going on.

I cant believe im seeing someone ask if the greatest football game of all time is "playable" with default, or any rosters for that matter.
